    I had a couple of these SMF's back when you could easily buy one any day for about $450. They are now very hard to find and way overpriced. The Hinderer XM-24 is a vastly superior knife in every way and if you want something even more HD look to Hoback. Buying an SMF at above $500 or so is ridiculous.

    I love the design of the SMF and SNG, like the SNG size better. 4-5 years ago, a kid working in a knife shop was selling his own SNG cheap. It had bad lock stick and if I remember right the lock geometry looked off. He had trouble with even contacting Strider but finally sent it to be fixed. Got it back 6 (?) weeks later with no change. That made me leery of forking up the money for one. Plus, I hate the idea of chasing around these hard to find knives. The Chinese (Reate, WE etc) seen to do a better job with frame locks them US made.

    They definitely are doing a great job, meaning Reate and WE, and many more, but there are some great usa made companies that do outstanding framelocks, but strider and Emerson can be hit or miss i think when it comes to lock stick

    1. The hole is for a lanyard. It's a known issue but Mick has made it clear it won't be changed. I'm not a lanyard user so it doesn't bother me. Most people that use a lanyard put it through only one hole. 2. The knife was initially designed for the MARSOC Det 1 detachment in the early days of the Iraq War. The clip is not meant to be deep as there's no need to conceal a knife in combat, and Mick designed it to be easy to grab. 3. The coating is either black oxide or the natural black color that occurs from heat treat (depends on steel type) that has been blasted away to make the stripes, that's why there is a little bit of friction in the pivot. As you use the knife it will smooth out over time. 4. The sound you are hearing when closing isn't the washers, it's probably the detent ball rubbing on the blade. 5. You voided the warranty on the knife you polished the washers on. Messing with the pivot components at all will void the warranty. Strider will still fix the issues if you need warranty type work, but it won't be for free IF the issue is pivot related/caused by modification.

  • @NeevesKnives

    @NeevesKnives

    3 жыл бұрын

    Well i wouldnt say i took it apart if it did need warranty, and most companies that ive been told that wont take care of you after you take the knife apart, has always been fine as long as you dont modify it, and cleaning the washers is a normal thing when cleaning your knife, also i dont mind a deep carry or non deep carry, but i like my knife to not hang an inch from the pocket, esp since i have no issues getting a knife from my pocket very fast even with the deepest carry, and i dont mind carrying this knife, but i would prefer the clip to be a little deeper than it is. And i understand in war, with gloves and other things its probably preferred

    Hello! This is bit of a long post. And a new sub. This is a call for help for info and people more in the know. I have been looking around for 2 months now trying to find custom parts for some knives. But I’m really struggling. I’m wanting a few things for my knives, Deep carry clips (Spyderco wire styled ones and the “spoon” styled ones and Benchmade.) Custom metal scales (mostly for the spyderco’s with no liners.) And custom thumb studs (for the Benchmade as I fell their are too short.) Is it possible to get custom liners? I would like to get replacement liners for he 940 as the jimping on it is just to fine and it doesn’t grip my skin. And I would like one of those bolt on wave attachments, but preferably metal. Any idea where I could get those things from? I’m also not in North America unfortunately. (I also seen custom metal scales for a SAK and they looked nice, and Star Wars themed ones but again can’t find any for sale.) Also can you get a deep carry clip for pens and flashlights? And preferably I would like them to be USA made. Any help is much appreciated!

    The new ones are much smoother and thinner bte - they’re marked M. Strider instead of Strider, FYI. Only place to get a new one is directly from Strider and Monkey Edge’s website. Folllow Strider Knives on Instagram and they give notices for their drops. Great knives once you let them break in. Hard to beat for people that actually like to use their knives.

    The newer ones are much better and they’re marked M. Strider on the blade. The whole key to a Strider is to let them break in naturally - great user knives. Strider’s are not fidget toys. They’re made to work. You put the lanyard through one hole (whichever side you prefer) and it doesn’t get cut.
