Stress, Trauma, and the Brain: Insights for Educators--How Stress Impacts the Brain

Stress is a natural part of life and we experience it daily. However, we don’t often think about what stress does to our brain, our ability to learn new concepts, get along with others, or recall information. Dr. Perry discusses the impact of stress on students and teachers, and explains how creating a safe, secure environment is critical to allowing students to reach their full potential.

Very crucial message. A person under pressure lost his thinking ability.

This is very interesting! But I think we can apply it in so many circumstances, right? What if a person doesn't feel safe/wanted at home, or work? What if there is constant trauma in the home? It sounds like the longer it continues, the harder it is to make conscious decisions! Thank you so very much for this important topic! Because the person struggling often can't grasp what actually happened, so they can add to their stress by self deprecating!

I'm on the second video of this series. Good content but the audio is only coming from one side of the stereo headset.

Is this also applicable outside of childhood? I’d imagine trauma and stress in early adulthood and beyond could have similar cognitive effects?

There is no sound when he is speaking. The music plays fine but then when he talks it is silent.

Not an opinion. We are innately social & creatures (evolution proves this). If you think someone is not, it is because that has been developed through some form of trauma.
