STREETS on SMASH (NYC Graffiti) (Bombing) (2023) 4K
Old New York is coming back and exploding with graffiti. Film recorded between November 2022 and January 2023 in the area of downtown Manhattan (14th street and below). I was always fascinated with this particular part of the city for its bombing scene. To me it seemed like a meeting point of writers from the borrows and beyond. The objective of this project is to document the bombing scene. It is so quick to come and go, meaning fills don’t stay around for long - either getting ragged, cleaned up or damaged. Observing NYC graffiti for years, my memory recorded many dope throw-ups which I can not even find flicks of today. All that should have been documented. So now we start.

Love the commitment. Cool video. But I gotta say- The throwie scene speaks of this day in age. Any body can bomb, just takes nerve. Everyone wants to be someone but not everyone was meant to do what others know how to do. Goes for many aspects of our modern Society. Look at social media… Waaaaay to many kids with cans. Throws are rad, but if that’s all you know, you don’t know talent….now you know. Graffiti takes talent with balance and versatility

Has every classic bombing legend always done a perfect throwup? Please look into that. Here you see work done by writers with fire in their hearts while holding bags of racked paint cans in their hands and looking over their shoulder, high on life. This is not Montana can work under an abandoned bridge. This is the city. I really do see todays NY bombing scene as a living and breathing entity, while documenting it as it appears with out sugar coating. That being said - I am taking into consideration all the criticism I receive while working on new material. Thank you for your feedback.

I felt the same way, I'm from Modesto CA and maybe it's bcuz I'm from here but our throwie styles are way cleaner, but still respect to all the ones getting up still, and every writer starts out this way
