I’ve been in self imposed exile and came out of my cave to have a listen …I always come back to you Corey to be humbled by your proficiency with your instrument and to hear the essence of so many wonderful songs you select to interpret and serve up acoustically and present it anew. I am not insinuating you are attempting to sound like the original recording or artist at hand. In converse actually to that notion, it’s just you’ve a very natural way of expressing these songs with integrity and more than anything, its revealing of the immense respect and love for each song you choose to offer up to your listeners, myself included. I realize KZread is at best another platform for folks to present their thing and with an knowable number out there, you stand out and thus why I’m writing all this. Not for your ego ( as you have zero, which is gold in my book) but for my own personal enjoyment and reasons. Likes, popularity and everything after are fleeting motivations . Encouragement, affirmation and validation are intangible things, but are paramount to continue on. You’ve those in spades. I hope somehow these words from a stranger find you well and that you perhaps may serve us something up afresh in your way. If you ever start to get discouraged in respect to music, come back and read this unsolicited comment. I wouldn’t expect something like this to be written about myself, nor do I find myself writing things as such to others at large. Listening to you over the last two years, our common ground for me, is every single artist you interpret, I dig too, a lot. If you decided to perform John Prine, Mellencamp exclusively, hot damn, so be it. Keep doing whatever you’re doing is all I’m attempting to say, because people are listening and authenticity is such a force multiplier . Now more than ever, the world needs love…Stay Gold, Corey.

PS: as a caveat to the John Prine Mellencamp nod above, I’ve a request, artist choice of course, but I’ve found that guys of that ilk are but second cousins to band and lyricist like REM, The Smithereens, Lone Justice and say the Counting Crowes. I’m going to guess that they aren’t unfamiliar, yet that’d be pretty cool to hear your take on some of these bands. It’s all hipbilly, midwest, small town blues punk and soul with a fiddle, mandolin in tandem with a electric jangling guitar and an occasional accordion solo.
