    starrider1900 It is more expensive to maintain but that doesn't mean this motorcycle isn't awesome. I'm just cheap but if I ever get a euro bike I'd probably get an Aprilia Tuono.

    CycleCruza you should get a GSX-S1000 ABS on a deal for $4k off @ $7K then customize it for $4k (BAZZAZ Unit, TwoBros Exhaust, Air Filter, Nitron Shock, Fork Kit, M7RR Tires, Brake Pads & Lines, Levers, High Viz powder coat the wheels, change the Mirrors...) then you will have a bike better the the FZ10 and on par with the Tuono for less money because you love to save money whenever u can.

    I once had the Superduke and, after a couple of other motorbikes, I now own the Tuono. You are spot on. The Tuono is the best naked bike on the market hands down. Only thing is I would also give the Superduke engine a 10 in both performances and character.

    +cedric070 BMW s1000 r is faster and lighter - Better to live with daily (more comfortable) - generates more power over more of the rev range - noticeably cheaper (where i live) - better looking (subjective but atleast they did more than aprilla to differentiate the models). Some good metrics you have there to objectively determine which bike is better.

  • @ShamanWS6

    @ShamanWS6

    8 жыл бұрын

    True but the Ohlins is more oriented to the track. While the Ohlins kit definitely gives you more feel, the single-rubber forks do not take kindly to botched wheelies or very rough/dusty roads. I have a RF and had a Factory, and you can expect to put seals in the forks probably twice as often for this reason. This is the price you pay for top-end track oriented stuff... high end racing teams do very little to the Aprilia-spec Ohlins forks because they are so good right out of the factory for racing.

    Ok so I briefly read your four cylinder street fighter shootout. I'm not sure I understand what exactly I missed here. These bikes in this test are 4 cylinder and twin cylinder. So obviously this isn' based on that. What's more confusing is that you chose the KTM "Bike of the Year" , yet it came in second place in this test. And what do you mean by this test being a "bracket-style tournament"?

  • @alexserban2513

    Strange fact: if you compare the performance sheet vs the rider subjective impressions sheet you will see some major inconsistencies all the way. Based on the performance sheet suzuki would get the highest score but on the driver impresion I see a lot of bias towards Aprilia. This is not to say that Tuono is not a fantastic bike. For instance on braking KTM scores the lowest on the facts sheet but the highest on the rider impression. In torque Duke has the highest number but lacks in character or power in rider impression...how's that? It's obvious the whole driver impression sheet is a copy of the final point "Bike of choice" with some minor changes in the areas where one of the bike features really stands out. too bad!

  • @ShamanWS6

    Engine torque and wheel torque are two different things. This is why bikes like the Hayabusa and 1199 do not just run away from everything else, gearing plays a big part in how much thrust the motor can generate to the ground. A bike with 40% more rev range but 30% less torque (say, the S1000RR or RSV4 vs. 1299S) making the same power can be geared up a corresponding 40% at the wheel to provide the same road speed but higher torque to the ground. There is more to know about bikes than just engine specs - always.

    T is GREAT bike! But comfort? NO. KTM. I have owned 3 super dukes--and currently a 1290. Also owned one Tuono 1000--and ridden a T 1100. I am getting past track-weapon as street bike and want the option of riding it lots--in a relaxed manner until I crack it open. The KTM--especially with Rottweiler box Akra full-system and a tune STOMPS right off from 3000-RPMs. Easily accessible street thrills. But yeah--The T WILL RULE on track or technical twisty road. It sounds are the best in motorcycling. It IS a lot better than the old 1000. And it would be tough to pass on it at a relative bargain price (My KTM dealer just automatically hacks $1200 off list for me--helping somewhat). Ride them both and decide. Heck--I'd like to OWN them both. And maybe I will--because Aprillia marks down so aggressively year-old new stock--it may be THE bargain in of all motorcycling by next spring. And THEN you killed on depreciation if you have one to sell against the new-old stock..

  • @AkumuX

    @AkumuX

    +Tom Traynor The nice thing about the Tuono is the options you have in the aftermarket to make it more comfortable/streetable. Aprilia Mana Bar Risers (1" up & 1" back), AF1 1" peg lowerers (and/or Sato lowering rearsets on the 1000), an MRA or Aprilia touring screen and a 15T sprocket on the 1000. Congrats your Tuono is ergonomically 90% as comfortable as a 1290 Super Duke...with a better stock seat, better wind management, due it not being a 'true' naked, and a windscreen. Sounds a lot like my sport touring FZ1, man... I love the Super Duke, but not being able to put a windscreen on without getting head shake, when I do 400 mile 1 day rides kinda rules it out for me. (Super Duke GT looks all kinds of awesome, other than looks, though.)
