🇫🇷 Street Walk Cayenne - French Guyana - 4K
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cayenne
Cayenne (/keɪˈɛn/;[4] French pronunciation: [kajɛn] (listen); Guianese Creole French: Kayenn) is the capital city of French Guiana, an overseas region and department of France located in South America. The city stands on a former island at the mouth of the Cayenne River on the Atlantic coast. The city's motto is "fert aurum industria", which means "work brings wealth".[5] Cayenne is the largest francophone city of the South American continent.
In the 2019 census, there were 147,943 inhabitants in the metropolitan area of Cayenne (as defined by INSEE),[3] 65,493 of whom lived in the city (commune) of Cayenne proper.[6]

26:28 Finally a Brazilian car !!! This video really confirms the results of a recent survey that shows a quite interesting fact : out of 2000 cars that cross the Franco-Brazilian Binational Bridge monthly only 5 are from Brazil. And at the end of the day, this is all due to the fact that we (Brazilians) gotta have a visa (which we can't come by so easily) and we also have to pay around 700 BRL in taxes and international insurance to cross the bridge by car. Meanwhile, the French people can easily cross the Brazilian border by only paying a small insurance fee. Tbh that kinda makes me feel like we're not really welcome in French Guiana (don't get me wrong, it's not about the locals, but rather the French government) and that all of these hindrances that prevents us from visiting it were designed to keep French Guiana out of Brazil's cultural influence... It sucks that things are like this.

Well, it's indeed beneficial to maintain a distinct French Guianese culture. Don't misunderstand me - your culture is incredibly diverse and fantastic. However, preserving the uniqueness of French Guiana's culture holds greater significance. Brazil boasts a vast population of 214 million people, whereas French Guiana is home to just 294 thousand individuals. Simplifying access for Brazilians could potentially alter French Guiana's culture and linguistic identity entirely.

@@nanananana4373 7 months later and I must admit that I completely changed my views on this topic and I completely agree with what you just said. It's a matter of protecting the culture and the traditions of a small population, which already holds the disadvantage of being located so far away from the 'mainland France'. It has nothing to do with showing disregard for the Brazilian culture or something like that, which's what the more close-minded me from 7 months ago used to think 🤦♂️

The walk takes place in the city center of Cayenne. In this area, there are only one or two traffic lights, and as many streets are one-way, priority on the right is sufficient to manage traffic. There are a few more traffic lights outside this area, but also, as always in France, a lot of roundabouts, but outside the downtown.
Thanks for the walking tour👍🚶♂️🃏

Now, I saw that Air France also propose one flight per week to Belem, maybe that allows a better connection with a Brazilian airlines which works with Air France.

@@tttdilminha8669There was a process at the end of WW2 and they decided to stay French, part of France. They could have asked for a autonomous or semi autonomous status, but decided to be fully a region of France, at the same level than Normandy. They have the social health care, and almost free / cheap university etc. They are receiving much more money from the state than what they contribute. And they also have a unique culture and mix of people that is totally different than brasil. You need to acknowledge the will of the local people. It is their will that matters. Doubt it. They have a culture and a mix of people that is different form brasil. They never recognized any brasilian feeling (even less US 😅). The debate after WW2 was whether they wanted independence, or not. And if they stayed French, what status they would have (autonomous/ semi autonomous/ fully part of France ). They choosed the latter : to become a region of France (same than Burgondy or Normandy). I would also add that they receive much more money from the state and the EU than what they contribute. They have healthcare system, cheap university, social help etc. They can go wherever they want in the EU. The costs and risks to become independant would be huge and there is no local support for it. I don’t mention being a US state or brasilian state because they would NEVER acknowledge as US or Brazil citizens. That is a ludicrous idea for them. Their culture and their past is too different.😅😂

Life is suppose to be relaxing. Just because a country is “poor” doesn’t make it bad. Humans weren’t put on earth with mansions built out of thin air, there was nothing but trees and grass. Most of the world isn’t part of the weird “work to live, live to work” hustle culture of American society. The reason America is like that is because their capitalist system is built on the foundation of slavery.

African people are most populous on the eastern ends of the Americas and the Caribbean due to the fact that millions of them arrived and settled hundreds of years before Columbus.
