I was brought up on Sesame Street (along with our own home grown kids programming, which in the mid 70s was also fantastic) in my rural village in the UK. I adored Sesame Street in spite of the NYC setting being so totally alien to me. I loved the Muppets, I loved the human characters, I loved the warmth and honesty and fundamental lack of cynicism of it. I loved how lots of the people in it didn't look like me or sound like me, but that nobody batted an eyelid and it was as normal as could be. I'm excited to see this documentary, it looks like it'll do the show justice.
These Furry friends always listened to kids, adults don't. Oscar was more truthful than you get to be as a kid. There wasn't one I didn't adore.

I loved Oscar the Grouch which worried my mom a bit; I guess she thought he taught kids to be nasty. However, his saltiness helped balance out the show perfectly👌.

Only one I didn't like was Rosita and her annoying voice, plus Spanish was my first language so I didn't care for what I already knew.
I’m so thankful for this. Sesame Street was a huge influential part of my childhood. Being an 80’s kid from Queens, NY, even some of my grade school classmates made it on the show at the time. This show was such a heartwarming beat of my young life that I needed. And I’m also thankful to HBO for making available all the past episodes, laughing at skits and singing songs decades later I forgot I loved and remembered. 🙏🏽

I was born in '64, and was part of that first generation watching this amazing program....truth be told, I still watched it into my teens because the creativity and characters still fascinated me. I grew up in a rural area, so those glimpses of what city life could be like, how close a neighborhood could be, was so different from what I knew. It was, and still is, such a gift to all children....helping through good and bad times, teaching, entertaining, and giving us so much more ❤️
Saw this at Sundance, it really is something special. I can’t wait to rewatch it and for everyone to see it

Oh phew I'm glad. Don't know how it couldn't be good though! It's magical what they were doing behind the scenes to create the illusion of characters I still think of as "real".
The enduring power of Sesame Street is unmatched. I watched it as a 90s kid. I loved it. Literally when a politician gets into a fight with Big Bird just weeks ago you know you’ve got something special. I hope that many more generations of children get to enjoy this magnificent and still VERY relevant show.

I remember sitting on a foot stool next to great grandma holding her hand while she sat in her wheelchair as we sang along to Sesame street with all our friends on the show. Memories I’ll cherish forever. Thank you Sesame Street.
Growing up in the Bronx in the 70s & now living in farm land of North western NJ, it’s really is a big difference & Sesame Street was a huge part of my childhood, along with Electric Company & Mr. Rodgers. Thank you to all who made me laugh, smile & broadened my imagination as a child growing up. Forever treasured!
I was born in '72, and I watched Sesame Street religiously when I was kneehigh to a grasshopper. This is what we need now, more than ever. I can't wait. Peace and love to one and all.
The comments has me tearing up as much as the trailer. I love reading how Sesame Street touched young hearts across generations and borders. I don’t know of many things that has that sort of reach ❤️ The brilliance of Sesame Street.
Puppets, often disregarded as a joke, are so incredibly important and influential to how we tell stories and relate to each other.
Born in 1972....this was my childhood in the 70's and 80's....man, the feels from this trailer are real :D
I grew up in Dublin, Ireland and I distinctly remember watching Sesame Street constantly as a kid. There was this one VHS tape that had a few episodes on it and my mam put it on a loop for me when I was very young, still in my high chair. I remember being captivated by it, such a perfect show. ❤️
The epic version of the Sesame Street theme that played sent actual chills down my spine
The fact that these characters still mean so much to us in our adulthood just proves how much of an impact this show left on our childhood. 💙
This show raised generations of us children to be curious, kind, respectful of differences and committed to community. We're better for it ❤

Sesame street was a huge part of my childhood growing up. Jim Henson really has influenced all of our lives in a positive way with his love of art and people. From sesame street, to the dark crystal, to Yoda in star wars, hes been a part of our life, helping us find the good in the world, whether we've noticed or not.
I know this show was a part of my childhood, maybe not as influential on me personally as Mr. Roger's Neighborhood was, but one thing I remember from Sesame Street as an adult was the musical skits. I wasn't allowed to listen to secular music until I was older (and by "allowed" I mean old enough to sneak around and download it off the late 90's internet), so Sesame Street was basically my introduction to all manner of genres, including pop. It is appreciated.
The documentary we want.
I'm so grateful to have watched Sesame Street in the 70's in real time, as I'm a year older. So while my mother was listening to albums by Buffy Saint Marie, I was watching her on S st. As a mother and now a Nana, the lessons taught, the exposure to differences is truly invaluable. Sesame Street changes lives.
Maria, David, Gordon, Linda and everyone else- they were my family when my own family faltered greatly as a child. I am soo fortunate to have been "raised" by this show and Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.

this is such a great documentary ! Jim Henson and Frank Oz were such a amazing team , watching how the whole story play out . there are some once in a life people who connected who all of them basically change the way we all learned .
Sesame St was one of my favourite things about my childhood. In the Philippines. Grateful to the local network execs who thought it was an excellent idea to air it. It always cheered me up especially on bad days.
This is like remembering your childhood and seeing it all flash before your eyes
"This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and even it can inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise, it's nothing but wires and lights in a box. There is a great and perhaps decisive battle to be fought against ignorance, intolerance and indifference. This weapon of television could be useful." - Edward R. Murrow

God knows Sesame Street is needed now more than ever. I remember watching it so early in my life, it never occurred to me to see colour. It was just people working and playing and being friends with the muppet characters and helping them to understand some things. What could be a simpler lesson for what life is about.
Growing up in rural Virginia a kid from a broken home no father figure welfare Sesame street opened my eyes to a world of possibilities and exposed me to all walks of life different ethnic backgrounds and experiences it was transformative and educational for a poor kid with little perspective in an insular community. Just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for showing me how to get to Sesame Street.
Born in 1981, Bronx, NY, now living in CT for 30 years. When you have no cable, live in an unsafe neighborhood so you can't go out and play, was my gateway to the world. And when I had my 2 kids, I made it the same and even as grown as I am I will still watch an episode for the sheer serotonin. I can't wait to see this!

as a kid from the 1980's ,i watch it too,and Ricky Martin was on there one time when he was a Teenager
I just watched this this morning, both because I myself grew up on Sesame Street and because my nearly two-year old son loves it now. This was a wonderful look back at the beginnings and really shining a light on the people who made it what it is. My only disappointment is that while Jim Henson, Frank Oz, and Carroll Spinney got their just dues, I can’t help but notice that Richard Hunt and Jerry Nelson didn’t even get a mention let alone get discussed. I’ve long felt like they’re the great unsung heroes of the Muppets, and they deserve more praise than they get.
This is great. Just as I’m starting to watch Sesame Street with my son after I watched it as a kid. Being in Europe it was one of the main programs I learned English from growing up. This show is so important to so many people.
To this day, if anyone is counting and they get to 12, I go "and they all played games at the ladybug picnic" I love the idea that Sesame Street is TV that loves people, instead of trying to sell to us. ~Trav
Sesame Street is like comfort food for the soul. ❤️
1 thing I love about Sesame Street & the Muppets, is that any celebrity loves these characters so much that they’d do anything for them. “Hey Ozzy Osborn & Dolly Parton, we need you in a cameo to just tell Kermit to go left.” Done. 😂
I loved this show growing up in the 90s. Made me feel happy to be a kid
That show has been going almost as long as my parents. My kid was born this year. He loves it. It just goes to show how special Sesame Street is.
I watched this show while growing up. I love it and I miss being a kid just watching the puppets and singing the songs!
Kermit has been going back to his street roots. I’ve seen him exposing himself on Omegle multiple times.
That paired back Sesame Street theme, really got to me in a good way. Like a nice hug after not being allowed to.

I grew up with this in the 70s UK, it was on Saturday mornings, and like to think it was a good influence on my life. It was educational, mentally stimulating and bloody good fun. I don't think anything can match it these days, the kids programs today seem to be absolute inane gibberish using bright colours and music to keep a kids attention.
That part where she tells Jim that Sesame Street is his immortality…oooooof. Still tearing up.
I remember when I started grade 1 in 1972, I thought I can't go to school, I'll miss Seame Street ,and you know what....I learned more from Sesame Street then I did at school. 💚💙💛💜
So excited to see this documentary on December 13th. Rest In Peace Jim Henson.
I was obsessed w/"Semsa-me Street" ( I couldn't pronounce Sesame when I was 3 -lol ) & so were many of the kids I went to Preschool with. It doesn't matter if u grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles (like I did) or the inner city . "Sesame Street." spoke to all of us & I'm proud to be part of 1st generation to watch this wonderful show 👍.
I grew up watching Sesame street from a local channel. They use to air it on our country. Sesame street still is a part of my childhood. Now an adult it makes me emotional seeing these characters that I loved.
I'm sure this is true of a lot of people, but I'm the person I am today thanks in no small part to Sesame Street. I was bilingual by age six despite growing up in a home where my parents didn't speak a word of English because I grew up watching this show.
i'm canadian and this show was still a huge part of my life.
I saw this documentary at my local movie theatre this summer. Can't wait for it to launch on stream!
I’m happy this show existed it is really a gift to the people
I'm from Bangladesh, but I loved watching them on TV in my childhood. Still I love it
I want a full version of that orchestral Sesame Street theme.
God bless every single person involved with this project from the beginning. While I think the direction the show has gone into the last couple of decades is heartbreaking (moving to HBO - where too many kids might not be able to view it everyday, the gentrification of the set that made the show relatable to inner-city kids), there are so many of us well into middle age out here that will never get the chance to say thank you to their childhood friends on Sesame Street for all they've taught us over the years. So thank you, Sesame Street. I've no doubt many of us will watch this with tears in our eyes for all the memories of our childhoods that will come flooding back.
As a white cis male growing up in the bland suburbs of the 70s all I ever wanted was to live on Sesame Street. That gang and Mr Rogers were the two neighborhoods where I felt people were treated kindly and fairly. "What television would do if it loved people instead of trying to sell to people." I love that statement.
That original Sesame Street theme song still hit different....been watching since the beginning.... they've taught us more than just numbers and letters...remember?
Been a while since a trailer made me cry.
The instrumental version of the theme song used in the trailer was beautiful. I wish I could find it!
80s baby/90s kid That's when I experienced this little world. Kids before me, enjoyed it, and hopefully kids will still enjoy it long after me.
This trailer just made me so emotional! I loved Sesame Street as a kid and this just....made me feel instantly happy again! It was all so fun and funny! I have to see this show!
I love that when they make documentary trailers now of shows you can expect a very cinematic version of that shows theme song lol.
