🦠 As COVID-19 led to lockdowns and restricted movement, this programme ensured that street animals continued to receive the essential nutrition they desperately needed.
🐾 Despite exhausting almost all their resources, the dedicated team at Friendicoes persisted. Even after Delhi regained normalcy and COVID restrictions were lifted, the need for the feeding programme remained as crucial as ever. Stray dogs and other street animals still find themselves without caretakers on a daily basis.
🍲 The process starts at 1 AM each day, preparing over a thousand nutritious meals. Five vehicles then fan out across the city to distribute this food, which often represents the only sustenance these animals receive. This not only helps keep the animals healthy and less aggressive but also minimises potential conflicts with humans and other animals.
💡 Beyond merely feeding, the programme educates the public about animal welfare and fosters a network of compassionate individuals committed to making a difference. However, the cost of sustaining this initiative is substantial-approximately INR 4.5 lakhs per month, covering food, transportation, and labour.
