Long time SY user here - almost daily! I heard that the owners wanted to buy it back and couldn't, that makes me nervous. Always good to learn other platforms.

If OBS found a way to streamline their invite a guest and made it simplistic. Streamyard would go down pretty fast.

For sure.

I use OBS because it’s free. I sign up for streamyard at first but it seemed like I was going to have to pay a subscription to use it. (Multiple cameras, etc) so I went with OBS. It is important to stay aware of these things though. Thx for the video.

@@MichaelFeyrerJrSo looks like I was 100% correct with last night’s streaming question regarding the overheating issue. Indeed it was because of the keyboard lighting being on all the time. Very interesting because now that they’re off my keyboard doesn’t heat up at all. Just wanted to let you know in case you ever get someone asking you the same question. Now you know that its not because of something simple like dust or because the computer is too old, because like I mentioned in the chat, my room is squeeky clean, my laptop is only barely 2 years old and I have no pets. @@perfectsoulmates2023 That's wild, there must be a short in there somewhere. They've been using RGB lighting in keyboards forever and they put off very little to no heat.

@@chancethetechie No my keyboard apparently. Its not even RGB. Its just one soft light, no color under all keys. Its a Victus laptop barely two years old.

@@chancethetechie I dont think theres a short because theres no heat at all when the lights are turned off. The computer is barely two years old and functions perfectly.

It’s making me nervous to see what BS asset strip out of SY. Dan & Giege have left with no announcement. Who knows who else is still there. They screwed up Filmic Pro & Evernote. It’s seriously worrying!

Prices will go up dramatically. Also seen this week that Live Space is shutting down May 1st because basically the market is dropping and they can't cut it financially. Coupled with the fact that youtube is now pushing live streams further down the stack means the bubble has truly popped. Hard times ahead I think

Streamyard is ok if you want the basics (without paying), and good for adding guests, but I much prefer OBS on its own.

@MichaelFeyrerJr I'm sure. I livestream when I'm fishing and I haven't been able to figure out a way to multistream from mobile consistently. Especially if I have a friend fishing in a different spot. Any ideas?

If they start messing with the basic price and the simplicity of it, I'll be considering moving on. This crap of paying more for less sucks!! So damn frustrating!!! SMH

I think they will rebrand as StreamMeter to get on the metric standard 😊

Streamyard was never open source. You are thinking of obs. Which is still open source.

Sure. I dont expect much will change in the short term and if it goes bad there are other options like Re Stream and EVMux.
