Mine has a violet circle in center when I shine it on a surface I don’t think it’s supposed to be there I’m going to return it .

Texas XMR what holster do you use for it? The ring holders get snagged on the rubber and the leather holder snag on the rubber too. Can’t find a good holder for it without the rubber grip getting in the way

nevermind. bought one and love it. the hotspot could be a little tighter but damn, this thing is a beast.

I use those 18650 batteries from streamlight. They are awesome saves hundreds in batteries every year . And this light is brighter than your spot light. Way brighter.

I was given this light as a gift and I can honestly say this is the best light I've owned aside from the other streamlight, surefire and maglite flashlights i have purchased.

I already have this thing, I just like seeing someone explain it.

I had a suspect at work who didn't feel like going to jail in the early hours. He was 6'05" and I am 5'07" and was by myself. I 100% believe this light in his face for a minute+ completely demoralized him and he gave up. Not a single punch thrown. I love this thing.

I am a LEO and I’ve had one of these lights for about 6 months and LOVE IT!! I found mine on Amazon as an open box deal. I also found two extra batteries as an open box deal. Both the light and batteries have been problem free.

Damn time to upgrade! I’ve been using the HL-4 for years and absolutely love it! I actually dropped it off the second story run in the Texas prison I used to work at and all it did was dent the bezel of the light.

Planning to buy one of these. I have tons of cr123 to use up as backup. Only downside I see is 2600 mah capacity of batteries that comes with it so I will upgrade to 3500 mah. Most of my Surefire flashlights tend to throttle down the lumens after a couple minutes so like that this stays brighter for longer. I have protac 1aa/123 and like it alot. I am using aa size 3 volt batteries I bought over 10 years ago and it is very bright for size. Thank you for in depth review and glad to see another commenter say other 18650 batteries will work.

Bought it with a fenix pd 35 and the streamlight pistol light. Surefire replaced my g2 tac that failed after 6 years of use with a new one under warranty so props to surefire. Going to use the big boy on my boat at night when on lake Michigan.

I have this flashlight. It’s great. Wonderfully simple. Amazing light. The batteries it comes with are like 2300 mah. Buy higher capacity 3500 mah 18650’s. The only con of this flashlight is that you have to take the batteries out of the flashlight to charge. Keep some batteries in a quick charger ready to go and you can just swap them out.

This is an honest question and this seems to be extremely common and it perplexes me, but in every single review video there seems to be a good amount of people who have already purchased the item being reviewed and then they all come to the comments and say how amazing it is and then it just makes me wonder why the hell are you watching a review video if you've already purchased it and already have your own opinion on it?....... I mean I'm watching the videos because I'm shopping around and I've yet to spend the money on a specific light and I want to see how they all compare... but once I've made my decision and made the purchase I really don't care what other people have to say because I've already chosen one and I'll use it myself and figure out how much I like it. But I don't understand why somebody would spend money on something and then sit around listening to other people's opinions about it..... can you explain the mindset of watching people review something that you already own?..... I could understand wanting to see reviews of its competition or alternatives to what you have but I don't understand watching reviews on what you already own that's like buying a pair of shoes and then asking people how they feel after you already bought them. Just put them on and find out for yourself why you asking other people how they feel when you already own them? I just don't get it lol.😂 Help me understand this phenomenon in these review videos.

I have one and LOVE it! It truly amazes people when I show them it at night.

Jeff Gordon pretty good. I'd say right on par with my smaller 1,000 lumen light with just one of the 18650 rechargeable batteries. The 5x uses two of those. According to the box and the owners manual it's rated at an hour on high. I can believe it because I've used it for a couple night shifts and it didn't die before I recharged them. I also really like the charger cable that's included. It's has dual micro USB heads on it so you can charge both batteries at the same time. Each battery has a tiny red and green led that lights up in the head of the battery. It glows red when it's charging and green when it's charged. Overall I LOVE the light and there's no video or words that can show just how bright it is in person. It's truly mind boggling.

Jeff Gordon no problem at all. With them being genuine streamlight batteries I don't believe for a second that they die that fast. I know for sure mine don't. Maybe they didn't charge them out of the box?? Check out primary arms to buy it at. They have the best price by far last time I looked and they have super fast shipping.

Jeff Gordon Also double check that is the version that comes with the two 18650 rechargeable batteries. They sell a version that just comes with 4 CR123's too for about $10-15 cheaper.

Don't get me wrong, Surefire lights are great, I have one mounted on my M4, but they are crazy overpriced. After watching this, and reading several reviews, I picked up one of these. Love it. Will go with Streamlight from now on.

Just catching up on this video.....I bought this about a year ago, two of them and they are crazy bright and the throw (candela) is nuts.

I have this light, had it for maybe two months now. 3,500 lumens was actually not as bright as I expected. I don't like having to tap 3 x for full power but honestly 500 or 1500 (or whatever the middle setting is, I forgot) gets the job done almost every time. Pretty cool for 100 bucks.

@@Mrgunsngear Honestly it has made my 650ish Lumen LED maglite mostly obsolete. I will still keep it as an emergency/backup (the battery life is pretty insane compared to high output stuff) but the battery life on this is quite good in normal use.

Surefire really expensive now and most of them still use cr123s. The expensive ones use 18650 batteries, over $200.00

Thanks for your vidoes! A couple questions (if anyone knows)... 1. Is the side switch electronic (and therefore have parasitic drain)? 2. I noticed the lens was cracked in your closeup pics (thanks for that). How many drops did you do? After how many did you notice it? Would Streamlight repair it and how much did it cost (I'm assuming drop tests are not covered under warranty)?

I bought this from tactical gear last year when it first came out for preorder and I love it but I barely evvvvveerrr use it, I carry an HLX as my main flashlight. I love them both. With rechargeable 3500 mah 18650 nite core batteries, it is more cost effective than 123s but the battery life is not very great. But that was expected as it is a high drain device. Highly recommend streamlight.

Realistically, low is the more practical and plenty bright mode, and battery life with that is not bad.

I used the previous version of this light as a hammer on multiple occasions. Chunks taken out of the casing... But she still chooches. Love the HL-4, and I'll probably snag an HL-5X for the hell of it.

Why would you use it as a hammer? You can get a nice hammer at harbor freight for about 6 bucks

Just received mine this afternoon charged my two lithium ion batteries went outside about 9 o'clock turned off the porch light the only way to describe this flashlight it was daylight unbelievably powerful and the light is snow white, I have a Protech HL3 Which is plenty bright enough just could not resist buying a five worth every penny

Bro I’ve been following for awhile now....how did I miss this? Been researching flashlight to replace my old maglite saw this streamlight in my google search and your video came up. Watched and sold. Only question would be how long do the rechargeable batteries last before they no longer take a charge? Thanks bro. Great review & video.

Right. I have 2 strions, a stinger, 2 knuckle heads, and I just bought the 2020. Streamlight may as well be the matco truck.

I already have a stream light 1000 lumens. But I just bought this today, I don’t know why just thought I might need it someday. It has nothing to do with it just being cool.😂

This flashlight will drain the batteries when just sitting. I have to unscrew the end cap to prevent it. Is this common or do I have a defective light?

One fantastic flashlight. Just one problem. The button is hard to locate. It is difficult to index under my thumb. Anybody have any ideas?

I have a technical question for the crew. I'm confused by the rated lumens and what type of trickery is going on to make the light. Streamlight rates the output with the rechargeable 18650's higher than with cr123a's. How does that make sense? 18650's have a max output of 4.2v (3.7v nominal). So 2 of them is 8.4v max (7.4v nominal). CR123a batteries have a max of 3v so 12v total. Seems logical to think the CR123a's would be a higher output.

I think these higher lumen lights rely on the higher amps that some Li rechargeables allow. So, even with less voltage, the current draw is high enough to yield significantly more power (watts) than the 4xCR123's at their higher voltage.

Will come in handy for traffic stops at night, if needed.

I have purchased 4 of them in the last 4 month, 1 for a woman, 2 for friends and 1 for me, I love this lite and keep it at l m h.

Supposed to be Cree C4, or at least most of the batches should be. LED brands in the big name flashlights are mostly gobblygook if they're not outright saying Cree because the majority of them are Cree's resold by other distributors anyway. Cree C4 is actually not a model of LED but a bin (quality and output standard) for several models, which can vary wildly in color temp and output. C4 is generally the highest bin that is made in large quantities, so pretty much every company just labels theirs as C4 regardless.

Hands down the brightest light I own.

When it comes to Big Daddy Unlimited, do you really see that good of deals across the board? I registered for a month to check it out, and a lot of it doesnt look all that much different in price from what Im seeing normal anywhere else. I did run across a bolt action Im interested in for about a $100 less, but thats about all Ive seen. Am I missing something? thanks

The Warrior X has 89k Candella and a throw of almost 600 meters. It very much outperforms the Streamlight in a smaller form factor that is weapon mountable. The streamlight is probably better as a blunt instrument though. lol

Try using SL-B26 batteries to get the full 3500 lumens recommend by streamlight themselves.

I get it that the light is bright, but even if it was daylight I don’t think you would be able to tell the difference between a Glock 19 vs a Glock 21 at 130ft.

Well this is a hand-held light the ones that are 20k plus lumens are really big you need a strap to carry them but if you don't mind you can get them

I just bought 1 of those HL5-x, I can't wait I bought a supposed 90,000 lumin from Amazon and that 39$ flashlight only lasted for a month or so I think I recharged it like 3 or 4 times it stopped working. I've also bought monster flashlight in the past don't waste your money on those either they say they have a warranty but when I sent mine in they sent it back in the same condition NOT WORKING, so I called thier customer service the guy told me I may need to jump start it, what a jerk off

Can you charge those batteries in a regular charger or is it USB only?

YES ! FINALLY STREAMLIGHT IS BRINGING IT BACK! garbage outputs and high prices for years, now with decent output, and the best thing is there are several programmable modes, this is exactly what we need, a programmable tactical light for use in different situations. Very nice streamlight, please build your entire line out of this.

I need this so bad! And the price is fantastic just like SL is known for. I have a protac 2l-x and have carried it for two years and wore the finish off of it and it still works like the day i bought it. Original 18650 as well!

Maybe. The Streamlight 18650 are a little longer than the average button top 18650 though.

@@bl8danjil I spoke to a streamlight representative on the phone and she told me if I use anything other than the stream light batteries it can burn out the LED bulbs.

I guess it makes sense though; too many people must have been using poor quality batteries, using non protected cells, or flat top batteries thinking all 18650 batteries were the same like anything labeled AA, which has a standard. Streamlight didn't want to deal with the confusion and customer complaints that may have arisen from that. They need to come out with a higher mAh battery.
