As a fellow production nerd... 😅 There is an Intro where SKZ talk about the process on their channel, but the tl;dr is: 3Racha did a song camp with Charlie Puth when they were in NYC for Global Citizen Festival last September. And it seems like it was a Charlie-led production, but with 3Racha contributions. However, Bang Chan directed the recording of the SKZ vocals. And knowing their style, I'm pretty convinced (no solid evidence though), that Bang Chan's arrangement credit comes from adding finishing touches. Compared to your average Charlie Puth song, this one feels a bit crisper and more polished in a way I really only have heard Bang Chan's relentless perfectionism reach. However, they didn't talk about that in detail, so it could also just have been 3Racha knowing what they are looking for. It does definitely have their signature on it, even if it is a bit more subtle than on other songs. I would also like to point out that Stray Kids are such brilliant collaboration partners. The 4 songs they have done with features (or been the feature) as a full group where 3Racha also produced, they managed to hit the essence of that artist's style every time, while also giving it the SKZ shine. And doing that in 4 wildly different genres (Topline/TigerJK, Social Path/LiSA, All My Life (SKZ Remix)/Lil Durk, and now this as well). They are just so incredibly talented.

It seems to me the idea of MV is to show that for the sake of love, a choice is made between a familiar and long life without a soul and a new world with a short and difficult life full of love. This is an analogy with the Little Mermaid on the contrary, so there is a lot of water, symbolising the connection with another world, the world of water with a long life without love, which the guys are ready to leave. The last frame is very symbolic. And Lee Know one withstood the test.

I love the song so much!! Especially Changbin vocals! He said in the Intro video that he didn't want ppl to say, "Well, he's a rapper." He put his entire, well-built ass into his part. They're all so freaking pretty in the video, too. My Stay heart is happy. Also, funny you mention being clumsy/uncoordinated. I.N is super clumsy and breaks things a lot. He can still dance, though!

Honestly I think JYP could have possibly left Puth out because when it came out SKZ was collabing with him it did not go over well. Some stays have chosen to boycott the song as it has been said that Puth is problematic regarding some political issues including some sexist comments that have been made. I believe Puth is distancing himself from SKZ for those very reasons as well. I think he wants this to go well for SKZ. I am assuming that is the reason. According to the credits it looks like Charlie Puth and another producer are credited so 3racha isn’t credited for production but Puth and 3racha were credited as song writers and there were a couple others as well. If you would love see Binnie singing more, he was on Koreas Masked Singer. That was from prob 4ish years ago. I live for Binnies vocals lol

@@LeeKnow3rdEye That is why I put a disclaimer saying that these are my assumptions and not fact in regards to Puth’s absence in activities with SKZ. That is what I meant by political opinions. Also, they are boycotting because he liked a couple of post that were pro Israel which led to him being called a Zionist. I don’t talk politics and tend to keep it out of music unless it is a song that is regarding it. They have also mentioned the sexist comments he has made as well. Not just the Palestine and Gaza situation

@@LeeKnow3rdEyeit's actually all of the above. He's a zionist. He's said and done sexist/misogynistic things (on video no less) and not shown much remorse or made efforts to change (there's stuff involving Selena Gomez, Ke$ha, and Little Mix in this vein - with 2 of them it really seems he doesn't take being told "no" very well). He's generally seen as just not a good guy for those who have taken the effort to actually look into all of the complaints about him. I generally liked him and his music prior to this. Started seeing a lot of stays raising red flags about him so I researched it. Look, I'm not about cancelling some one over 1 or 2 rumors, but when there's multiple instances (some on video no less) and I don't see any effort from the person to show remorse and an effort to change, then that tells me all I need to know. Needless to say I'm a fan no more and I'm one of the ones boycotting. Love SKZ and will support in many other ways, but it's a hard no on this one for me. It's morals over music for me.

@Stephanie … True … ChangBin can sing. They all can. All of the members can sing, rap, write, and dance … but they are divided into a particular specialty. All doctors know how to listen to the lungs … but some specialize in orthopedics … oncology … etc. Despite their focus, they can still perform the basics. Each member of Stray Kids knows the basics- They’re just highly specialized in their own rights! Makes them a powerfully talented group!🥰

I'm not a pure western pop fan in general so this will never be my favourite SKZ song, however it IS very catchy and they do an awesome job (those vocals!) so I'm enjoying giving it a listen although hands way up really because I'm hearing Lee Know...Changbin...Bang Chan's adlibs...Would I listen to it on repeat if it was only Charlie? Nope. But that's personal preference. And I love how their collabs are all perfect with the collabing artist and stretch the SKZ members in the creating. I hope it will open a door for some new baby STAYs because who doesn't want that. My favourite bit is probably Hyunjin's - he's doing Hyunjin, but vibing with the Puth aesthetic; he doesn't sound like Puth. P.S. Appreciate the TASTE tangent!

@ Amarileone ( from Sierra Leone?) … ?? I stumbled across your channel yesterday … I must say … your commentary is the most thorough, thoughtful, and cohesive review. Most KZreadrs are too star struck to offer insight to the idiosyncratic elements of Stray Kids music … no disrespect to them … I can’t blame them. Sometimes after hearing a new Skz song, all I can say is “ Wow! Just wow!!” But … since I’m a pseudo musician-I play the organ, piano, and guitar by ear … I’m always noticing the slight changes in pitch, rhythm, etc. I’m also a writer - BA and MA degrees in English so I’m able to analyze the bejesus out of “Mary Had a Little Lamb” …. I appreciate themes/tropes. It’s sooooooo very refreshing to hear someone in this entertainment realm with so much depth!! I appreciate your knowledge! 😊 Keep your analytics coming … I’m a fan!!!

Writer(s)---> Charlie Puth, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Natalie Salomon, Bang Chan (3RACHA), Changbin (3RACHA), Han (3RACHA) Composer(s)----> Charlie Puth, Bang Chan (3RACHA), Changbin (3RACHA), Han (3RACHA), Johnny Goldstein Arranger(s)----> Charlie Puth, Johnny Goldstein, Bang Chan (3RACHA) Producer(s)----> Charlie Puth, Johnny Goldstein + Yes, this totally sounds like a Puth song! They've talked about how they worked with him on their channel (or on JYP Entertainment... I think on their channel). and it totally sounds like a 90's song... lol It doesn't really sound like a "typical" STRAY KIDS song (if you can call their music typical. but you get what I mean. They have a certain unique taste to them)... It's a good song, they sing and perform amazing don't get me wrong, but I always prefer the Kids' own special sound, be it a "rough" sound or a soft sound. + Of course they're singing! They're the Freaking ACE GROUP!!! They can all sing, rap, and dance... Our amazing golden boys! ALSO, I love dancing in the rain scenes in M\V's. It looks so perfect! Sexy and Cool at the same time.

Thanks for your reaction. By the way, great song at the end of the video! After seeing the reaction, I wondered if I liked SKZ as a whole or the song itself. The guys' voices are wonderful, but... The second part is more catchy where at least some variety of melody begins. This is generally an atypical sound for popular SKZ songs. But the dance, the visual and what we know from the Intro about the process of creating the song, the effort expended, the hopes of the guys, makes it more relatable. Maybe only for me, but... I wonder if there is something for the musicians/producers that indicates successful song? Without awards and charts. Not "nice" but "wow, incredible, masterpiece". Or like God's Menu once brought Stray Kids to a new level... I'm waiting for another great work from 3Racha.

Thanks that's my song No Worries (by Amari Leone, available here on youtube & on all streaming platforms). From a musical standpoint I think it's super subjective what that "wow" song is. I've heard artists say they knew the second they made a song it'd be their biggest hit & others say they had no idea when they released a song it'd be that popular. Did SKZ say they felt that way about this song?

  • @withoutanywords

@@AmariLeone Thanks for the answer! No, the SKZ did not say anything like that. This is more of a theoretical question, not about this song, but in general, are there any “rules” by which musicians/songwriters can create music that will attract more people. Or is it really a matter of chance. I hope my questions are correct/no negativity in English, I'm not very good at this language.
