5:28 They went by the 3RACHA aliases when they were releasing music on SoundCloud (before becoming Stray Kids) - so all of the pre-debut 3RACHA credits are done by alias. Their 3RACHA names are puns. 3RACHA (named after the hotsauce Sriracha) Bang Chan - CB97 - Christopher Bang born 1997 Changbin - SpearB - (pronounced Spear Bee) Spear comes from his first syllable of his first name "Chang" and the B for Bin Han Jisung - J One - (pronounced Jay One) J for Jisung and One from the family name Han which means One Each member also has an English name (some because they lived in English speaking regions and some b/c the members named them - specifically Chan). Bang Chan - Christopher/Chris Lee Know - Rhino Changbin - Lewis (Chan really wanted him to go by Bartholomew) Hyunjin - Sam Han - Peter Felix - Felix (his Korean name is Yongbok) Seungmin - Sky I.N - Bob

Stray Kids' early discography is AMAZING!!! It just hit different. I would recommend "VOICES", "I AM YOU" and "MIRROR". SKZ was so underrated back then and still to this day those aerlier works from the I AM series are way to much underappreciated by fans. They put so much work into the lyrics and everything... I miss those times :( They still put alot of work into lyrics now but it was just a different vibe back then

13:12 there are multiple songs Minho actually raps in! He's better known as a dancer and vocalist nowadays but he's more than capable in the rap department as well. If you want more examples you can check out Boxer or Maze of Memories (all the members rap on this song, it's really cool)

Welcome back to stayville :) I believe Having a record label in the states makes album distribution and general promotion in the states easier. I hope they’ll get a EU representative label in the future so we euro-stay can get better and affordable access to albums/merch etc. Chan, Han and Changbin formed a rap based group before stray kids, they released music on SoundCloud. They chose the name 3Racha inspired by the hot sauce “because they’re hot” 😅 Now they’re the main producing unit of SKZ (not to be confused with skz rap line) but other members (especiallly hyunjin and seungmin) are starting to get into writing and producing. Both H. And S. having main credits for an ot8 song each on the new Japanese Album. They used to be 9 of them but one member (woojin) left late 2019. I do recommend the survival show but bring tissues. You’ll get to see them create/write hellevator. That’s it for now and I’ll get back to watching the video. Edit while watching: As far as I remember Lee Know choreographed Hellevator. Also watching the survival show will tell you why Lee know was mainly rapping in their earlier releases (I won’t give spoilers) 😉 The slogan came later since the fandom got its name “stay” in summer 2018.

Close, it makes album sales in the states COUNT as such. Period. Without the US distributor, the sales do not cound as US sales and they do not chart or track as thus. This is also why, when the distributor decided ONLY the albums that they charge 2 dollers more for and are marked as US, counted for Stray Kids as sales in the US, and all the Korean albums, which is what we were buying before, counted as korean sales. It cost SKZ dearly. And why, when they didn't restock the US marked albums after the preorder stock sold out, we stoped having albums count for US, period. It was about a month before they bothered to restock, snd even then Korean albums werent being put on shelves moat places, and when they did, very few had the displays they were meant to. This is why their sales in the US were so low. Had that not happened, they would have hel massive us sales. On top of all of this, they are the only ones I know of that last year, and so far this year, that not only had to have the whole "US marked albums only" thing when it came to them counting for Billboard or as US purchases. Yet "labled for US sale" doesn't means that it needs a sticker or only certain ones can count. Just that the album be registered for charting in the US and with Billboard. Not to mention they were the only ones with that distributor who had any shipping restrictions and warning about shipping delays, causing fisrt day & first week sales to be far less than other groups who they are the US distribution for, who had less preorders. (for all their other clients, including Twice, every album could ship without order caps or shipping delays.) Considering that everyone seemed to juat accept it, i dont see why thisnyear will be any different either. My point is... The US distributor is supposed to allow for theirnalbum sales to count as such. Unfortunately, their US distributor doesn't seem to be doing a great job at that at all.

I saw Stray Kids in concert last night so this was a great thing to wake up to - I love seeing people discover / rediscover the kids! As for your surprise about Lee Know rapping, during the survival show, since he hadn’t trained for very long JYP felt his vocals were lacking. So he asked him to rap his part in Hellevator on the spot (no practice beforehand or anything) when he had never rapped before. It’s a pretty famous moment because Han held his hand to support him since he was so nervous. Now, his vocals are amazing. He has improved so much.

I'm always here for Skz content. It never gets old. Skz are insane in the best way possible. The fact that they had the audacity to pre-debut / debut with these songs is unreal! Pre debut with a song as meaningful as Hellevator.... not many group do that, even years into their debut. So the fact that they did this as pre debut I feel like means that much more. ANDDDD they wrote it themselves!! Crazy. Idk I think I'm rambling at this point lmao! Also I do recommend you watch the Stray Kids show. It will really give you a much deeper appreciation for how they came to be. They have gone through so much. You will need tissues... just sayin. The fact that both of these songs are still among my favorites really says a lot. Also all of the members do it all. Rap sing and dance. That is why now they do not have any "roles" like main rapper etc. Because as you can see with Lee Know he usually does vocals now but he can rap his ass off to. He raps in Boxer I think to. I think starting with the MV's is a good idea and then going from there. You could start in order since you started with their first 2 music videos.

Thank you for reacting to these videos and welcome back to stray kids. You probably miss so much. I highly recommend this quick video that gives you a more deep dive and all you have to do is, listen. I have been a fan for over 3 years and this video was released this year and great for all kpop fans even if it is about stray kids it talks also about kpop in general and JYP too and not long. The name of the video is The Rise of STRAY KIDS - JYP Entertainment's REAL Secret Weapon (Deep Dive) by JohnathanMillerMusic. 3Racha was formed by Bang Chan before they debut and so they had rapper stage names. Changbins stage name pronunciation is Spear B as he spears the words. I thing the B represents his nick name Binnie. It is also a refresher. Yes SKZ has 3 members that are Virgo's and Hyunjin hates those vegetables he things they are not yummy. A lot of new fans don't realize that Lee Know is also a rapper. Because they only hear most of the new songs and his beautiful falsettos but Yes Lee Know is listed as a vocalist and rapper and he can rap, well they all can rap we just dong get much of Seungmin and I.N. rapping or Lee Know. Just like we rarely get Changbin and Felix vocals but we do on occasion for both. Like their newest B side song "There m/v" from The Sound Japanese album. In Hellevator dance practice Lee Know is in all black with sleeves like Changbin is. Han is is black and white hat and outfit with the white shirt showing at the bottom of his jacket, while IN is also in black and white but his hat is all black. Bang Chan is wearing a black beanie and you can tell the rest. Love to see you check out an older song during their reality show is the Grrr performance m/v. They created the quote before the song but incorporated it the saying in a few songs or performances. Bang Chan is the one that created the saying Stray Kids every where around the world, you make Stray Kids Stay he also created the Stray Kids log and its in his own hand writing. He named the Stray Kids fandom name as well. Catch you on the next m/v

I loved watching your reaction! ❤ You clearly really enjoyed watching them and I loved how you also appreciated the lyrics, which are usually very underrated since its sometimes hard to concentrate on so many things at the sametime 😂 HIGHLY recommend watching the survival show! Gives you lots of insight in their roots and original group positions. As they don't have specific positions anymore (main rapper, lead dancer etc.), they have their subgroups (rachas) and lines (rap and vocal line). 3racha went by stage names because they were releasing their mixtapes on soundcloud and performing in small clubs in secret from JYP. SKZ do have professional choreographers that make like a "demo" choreo for them and but danceracha are heavily involved in making of the final choreo. They work together with 3racha when making the song so the track and choreo fit. If you're interested in learning about them as group and individuals, I also recommend watching 1kids rooms and 2 kids rooms. Also maybe watching some intrudiction videos for the members. They're usually made in fun way to make it easy to get to know everyone😊

*Stray Kids DEBUTED through a survival show of the same name. However, they were formed by their leader, BangChan. Having chosen the other 2 members of his predebute hip-hop crew, 3RACHA, to form the core foundation of the group. They also happen to be the primary producers for their group. BangChan single handedly chose the remaining members based on potential, current skill set, personality, and work ethic/drive. 3RACHA, with the more minor inclusion of the other members, are single-handedly responsible for 99.7% of their own discography. In other words, they are the primary contributors in all spects of their music, from lyrics and composition to production and even arrangement. As a resault, 3RACHA are the first 4th gen idols to become full members of KOMCA, as well as the only 4th gen artists in their top 15 most accredited idols. Each having earned between 125 and 145 official credits.

Lee Know raps in a lot of the earlier songs, often more prominently than he sings in them. He joined JYPE in June 2017 and was snapped up by Chris almost instantly; he had less than two months' training before joining SKZ and the survival show filming started. So he had almost zero training in vocals or rap. As the result of a somewhat sh1tty last-moment move by JYP (infamous for a beautiful moment of support from Han), it was discovered that he had an unexpected feel for rap; however, he needed a lot more vocal training to polish his natural talent, so he veered more toward rap in the beginning. When they debuted, 3RACHA and WJ knew they'd need to carry a lot, with Hyunjin and Seungmin as the second line, while Lee Know, Felix, and I.N still needed time to develop. So the earlier songs are structured in such a way as to let the first and second lines of members do the bulk, while using the other three for highlights as they continued to progress their skills. These days, all of ot8 are fully developed and well rounded, and the modern line distribution reflects that (including Lee Know now being part of the de facto vocal line instead of the de facto rap line). That profile page is woefully outdated, but it was right not to deem any one person as "main vocal" or whatever; despite using the "main whatever" term about each other as shorthand, they don't have official set position/positional hierarchy. They all rap, sing, dance, produce; no one is ever referred to as subvocal or lead rapper or whatever, because there's no ranking one above another and creating that kind of competition; and the "main" gets popped around onto whomever they're talking up at the time. Hellevator was written, recorded, filmed, and released while they were in the midst of the survival show, exhausted and worried and fighting to stay together. The lyrics reflect their feelings about what they were going through at that moment (JYP asked them if they felt like they were in/going through hell, and they said yes). Yes, the three members of Danceracha -- as well as the other members -- have some say in choreo; we've seen them making adjustments and working out changes among themselves. 3RACHA sometimes consults with Danceracha about structuring songs to fit dance moments. But despite common fandom fallacy, they are not the choreographers; they have both in-house and outside choreographers responsible for their choreo. And also despite common fandom fantasy about Lee Know choreographing Hellevator, he did not; he did an immense amount of work as SKZ's dance leader, helping members learn and refine their Hellevator dancing, but the choreo was made by professional choreographers, not anyone in the group. (That said, Lee Know is an experienced, trained choreographer; Hyunjin has proven himself to be a gifted choreographer over the last couple years; and they've all admired Felix's choreography skills since the beginning. They do sometimes choreograph either their solo or group choreo for some live stages.) WJ will be in all the MVs and songs up through the original Korean version of Double Knot in October 2019. The "Stray kids all around the world, you make Stray Kids stay" tagline will not appear until a bit later in the videography. But yes, this song is the origin. 3RACHA were in independent rap trio before SKZ existed. As such, they used rap names. They released three albums before SKZ ever debuted and were performing on underground stages, so the rap names were pretty much mandatory. To this day, they still use and reference those names when doing 3RACHA unit work.

The 3racha stage name thing is because they were already a thing before Stray Kids was even formed. They have their own KZread and SoundCloud channel where they've uploaded three complete mixtapes and multiple other songs, not all of them are available anymore though. CB97 obviously comes from Chan's initials and birthyear, SpearB is pronounced Spear Bee and the name J.One is put together by taking the J from Jisung and Han (which means one in Korean) from his surname. Stray Kids had special CD only tracks on their earlier albums titled Mixtape #1-#5, you can find those on the Clé 2: Yellow Wood and the Levanter album. Those mixtapes are full group remakes of songs that were originally 3racha songs. Mixtape #1 = Placebo Mixtape #2 = If There's A Shadow There Must Be Light Mixtape #3 = For You Mixtape #4 = Broken Compass Mixtape #5 = Hoodie Season If you do ever check those out make sure to get to the original songs as well! It's super interesting to see which parts they kept and how they rearranged the rest to fit the group

Changbin and Jisung also performed Matryoshka on their survival show, kind of went viral at the time and a fan favorite for a reason. Just like Danceracha (Minho, Felix, Jisung) have a song called Wow 3racha have their own Wow as well, you might've seen memes about it and the boys themselves also make fun of the song a lot on livestreams and such. That's where the "excuse me noona, do you have a boyfriend?" thing came from, the song is kind of a fandom staple

6:27 The stage names in 3RACHA actually make sense if you connect parts of their aliases to their legal names and some other stuff 1) CB97 - CB stands for Christopher Bahng (about 1 or 2 weeks ago we got to know that Bang Chan's full name is actually _Bahng Christopher Chahn_ because "ㅏ" as a letter is pronounced as "ah", so his family chose to write their names like that). 97 stands for 1997, the year he was born 2) SPEARB (pronounce as "spear-be") - this one I really like to explain! So, SPEAR in his stage name is a translation of "Chang" (창) into English, and that's why we have "spear". B stands for "bin" (빈) in his name. So, basically, his stage name is his legal name but with a sprinkle of wit 3) J.ONE - J stands for "Jisung"; ONE stands for "Han" (한), and "한" means "one" in Korean So, that's kinda it :D

so glad you are getting back into SKZ, i would personally start with: Easy Double Knot Domino Victory song performance video as well as their MAMA 2020 performance with Victory song, relating to Kingdom, Legendary War. -Kingdom performances, including the ones with ATEEZ and BTOB where they formed MAYFLY. -MAMA performance 2021, 22 and 23 (but make sure to watch cheese, thunderous, superboard, maniac and venom M/V first) - Their "FIRST TAKE" songs - Anime 'Tower of GOD Anime' , opening and closing songs TOP (M/V) and SLUMP(FIRST TAKE)

I remember when Hellevator and District 9 came out. I was blown away. They never ever seemed like Rookies. They just flew out of the gate and meant business. I've been a fan ever since. They are amazing. My bias changes every 5 seconds. LOL. 😅

It’s always fun seeing people (re)discover skz! A lot of their music, especially early on, talks about working toward your dreams and discovering yourself. They really put a lot of weight into their identity as stray kids. Lee know still does some rapping, but he did it more in their earlier music. I’d consider him more of a vocalist now, but would have called him a rapper back then. On top of MVs, I’d also suggest checking out their vlogs and 2 kids room to learn a lot about each member and their relationships. I think it’s okay to just start with their most recent 2 Kids Room series (they’ve done three seasons, as well as other variations of the show), but some people like to start from the beginning. If you’re really interested in the survival show, you can watch that too. I don’t personally recommend it to people because it wasn’t the most entertaining or compelling watch to me. It felt a little convoluted and like they were just making things up to create a dramatic show. Plenty of people still think it’s important to learn where their favorite groups started, though, and watch it more for the knowledge than for enjoyment.

i wish you would have reacted to the original hellavator dance practice from 5 years ago (on jaeminsuh channel) or even the one uploaded 4 years ago on the official Stray Kids channel (which was actually the demo version of the song where Han sang/rapped all of it except for Changbin's part and Lee Know made the entire choreography) just to feel the energy they exuded before their debut because that's my favorite part! yes this 5 year anniversary one is great because it shows how far their dancing abilities have come but because it's really polished it doesn't have the same vibe from 5 years ago. I love seeing groups at debut or pre-debut to see their excited and passionate dancing that may be still a little rough around the edges but it has a TON of character!! haha but otherwise I loved this reaction!

So I'm watching Helevator with you now and I see you're a bit confused by some of it. This whole song, concept, and Lino rapping at their debut, will all make sense when you've watched the Survival Show. Helevator was written and choreographed during that show. It was the product of one of their pre-debut missions. I highly recommend watching the survival show for a better idea of what these guys went through to even debut together and to get to where they are now. Side note, Stay will generally happily sit and watch MVs multiple times with you if you want to watch once for visual, once for lyrics, or dance practice or live performances... We're here for it! Also, not sure you noticed, last scene of Helevator and first scene of Maniac 😉

Fun fact about Chan: he acted in some Australian commercials as a child and apparently he almost ended up on H2O Just Add Water (don't quote me on that though I don't remember where I got that info from). Also: District 9 is indeed the debut! Hellevator was released as a predebut track during their survival show. They have a whole predebut album called Mixtape that consists of songs they made for and performed on their predebut survival show

Aww I'm so happy you're looking back into Skz! 16:25 Yeah! As someone already said, Danceracha does contribute to the choreo, but also when 3racha is making songs! 3racha will often ask them where's the best place to have a dance break/ certain moves that would look good on parts of the song! 20:04 Yeah the music videos follow a story line that starts with Hellevator, you can watch the prequel to better understand it : kzread.info/dash/bejne/a6R6rrFsl5mpg8o.html Here are all the music videos in order: kzread.info/head/PLPA5t71oFUIzPXFR2W7KB1xnazt1htLKA so you can choose whatever you wanna watch next!

There was a whole story line. If you want the story line, you need to also watch the album trailers/teasers. So I will try to give you a list of story order. Including the trailers/teasers that are story important. Hellevator is technically part of the story, but also not at the same time. Parts of it appear in the story line, but it's not fully part of the story. So. List. I'm going to include some songs I think are part of the story, but not quite. I'll put them in brackets. (Hellevator) I Am Not trailer District 9 (Mirror could go here, but it's not completely in the story line) Voices Grow Up My pace I Am You Victory Song Performance Video Miroh Cle 2: Yellow Wood trailer Side Effects Teaser 1 Side Effects Double Knot (Astronaut is technically next, but it's also a split in the story line again. The group from this one end up in space & go on to the song TOP where they have a conclusion of a sorts for their story. So their path is up to Double Knot, then Astronaut, and finally TOP. The main story skips this, and goes on to Levanter Trailer.) Cle: Levanter Trailer Levanter Go Live Trailer Stray Kids Prequel: Highlight Reel Gods Menu In Life Trailer Back Door I think that's the end of the official story line. After that, they take many different routs in their story & music. I still highly suggest checking out their album trailers. They started making them into mini movies. And that list I gave you, doesn't even cover all the songs on the albums. I would suggest checking out an album playlist. Mixtape has all the songs from their pre-debut survival show & the title track from that is Hellevator. Then they have the I Am trilogy. Then the Cle trilogy. Go Live, and In Life were a double set. No Easy was a stand alone album that you have to watch the trailer for. Right after is the Christmas Evil album, but it does have a bit of info from the No Easy album. Oddinary is a solo album as well. And the Maxident album is their foray into love. They also now have three Japanese albums. Two of them are mini albums, and the newest is a full album. There is also a mini story that covers several albums. It's about a group of school friends who start a film club. Then feelings & drama happen. I'll leave that list too. Mixtape: On Track Unveil track: "B Me" Mixtape: OH The View I hope this helps.

16:26 They work with a group of in-house and well-known choreographers primarily, however, those they've collaborated with say that the members often share their opinions and make suggestions on choreo to personalize it and really capture the essence of what they are trying to convey. Lee Know and Hyunjin have choreo credits within their discography, but for the most part they collab with other people. Lee Know is the Dance Leader and often acts like a Dance Captain would in theatre (someone who maintains the quality and artistry of choreography after it is taught). There are lot of clips of him teaching and monitoring choreography session to teach and clean the choreo. Hellevator and District 9 were choreographed by members of the JYP Performance Directing Lab, Ryu.D (Auspicious Crew), and Ali Lee.
