Alvar Eihager brook knows him as Gold Roger Roger told whitebeard about the D in his name when he was already fully grown By then nobody knew about the D and thought it was a part of his name So if brook knew him as a rookie it makes sense he refers to him as gold roger instead of gol d roger

This episode had no fights at all and it still is one of the best episodes in the whole series. The Shabondy arc was a huge slap in the crew's face in order to let them aware of how enormous the world is.

GOD I LOVE BROOK. Just came back to hear the line once more. I can totally see Brook still being alive hundreds of years after Luffy and his crew died and he's alone on an Island singing happily. (Maybe even guarding luffy's fruit) Possibly waiting for an heir of Luffy's generation to come by. Wouldn't that be epic?
