When I saw the title, "strawberries finished, now what?" my first thoughts were - go blackberrying plus picking the local wild cherry plums! My strawberry baskets have been sitting on a raised bed since being evicted from the tunnel, and got shifted several days ago as I needed the space, with the runners rooted in the ground moved into 3" pots, now looking a bit droopy after temps up to 39 deg C. Been making extra baskets for next year out of standard pots, each fitted with 3 Langard snap on eyelets (eBay bargain at 3p each), omitting the rubber washer to suit pot wall thickness, and knotted polypropylene rope. Wondered about using some of my large collection of plastic window boxes for strawberries, but think (now I'm making extra hanging pots) that I'll continue using them for stuff like early Tumbler tomatoes and shift outside later to vacant beds or a middle rail on a growing frame.

Well that's true too, we will have plenty of blackberries, but our freezer is nearly full of berries now and we have all of our preserves for the next year finished : All the best - Steve

Your video was very timely. I was looking at my strawberries today and wondering if I could cut them back yet - so the answer is yes - thank you Steve. One of the varieties I am growing is called Mara de Bois which is ever bearing. This is their second year and I am picking a tray full every two to three days and they will continue to fruit until the first frosts. They are an incredible variety and just want to keep on flowering. Even the runners (this years) have flowers on them. They are quite a leafy plant but don’t grow as tall and I would recommend them to anyone who loves strawberries. My biggest mistake is planting four rows of different varieties. I have discovered that strawberries are terrible bed hoppers and when I move them into fresh beds in a couple of years each variety will be isolated! Providing of course that I can identify what’s what by then🤨. Love your videos Steve, many thanks.

Can strawberry plants that are in the ground be moved into pots before they’re dormant? Mine have stopped producing now and I desperately need them out the way as I’m redoing my whole garden. Cheers
