Can't thank you enough... the timing is just perfect, I'm just finishing up a couple of blanks for my first necks. Swore I'd never bother building one - but here I am with a notebook! You're guidance on patience has been a lesson hard learned. Thanks so much.

Nice one Patrick. Always appreciate your approach to builds. You mentioned that you research processes you are trying for the first time or have limited experience in. Your videos are my go-to when I’m in that phase of a build. Cheers mate for the wealth of knowledge you bring to the table! Dean

Perfect timing. I’m scared to death of making a neck from scratch, and this gives me some insight. Now all I need is a bandsaw and a thickness planer.

I appreciated the neck-building pep talk toward the end. I’ve been in the neck stage for longer than I want to admit, and at least some of that has been figuring steps out (and learning woodworking skills as mundane as sharpening). I’ll be a better woodworker when it comes time to get to the body. - Paul

Back in the day, wife 1 managed to run her car outa oil. Spun 2 rod & main. I rebuilt the engine (- machine shop stuff) because I had to, and couldn't afford to hire it out. Turns out, it ain't that bad iffin' you read the service manual.

A good friend of mine always says, “nothing is complicated, only complex”. Whenever I’m doing something that I think is difficult, that saying reminds me that difficult is not the same thing as impossible. I was always scared of building a neck until people like you showed me how to do it. Thanks for your excellent videos.

The first neck is always the hardest and most frightening. But like you said it really is just a series of smaller tasks. Looks good as does that shirt you're wearing!

My PLC's instructor in college used to ask me "How do you eat an elephant? One little bite at a time." Building guitars & necks is another situation where that advice fits well.

Making a neck requires much more precision and many more tools than the body. Also cutting the frets precisely is a little scary that is why I’m hesitant to try it.

Great work, just one little observation: you have misspelled ‘beginning’ on your thumb nail. Sorry it’s the teacher in me!

Hi Patrick, I’m just about to start my first neck build so the timing of this is perfect for me. Mine is going to be for an offset F style body so the neck your building should be similar if not the same as what I’m aiming for. Can I just double check.. I’ve listened to the vid a couple times but I want to make sure. The staring thickness of your neck blank is 18mm and the fret board is 6mm? Thanks!🙏

About routing direction: i allways learned that for the outside of a board you should route counterclockwise, and for the inside (like a pocket) route clockwise. Why do you take a different approach? Is that to prevent chipout?

The body sides look a bit straight for a start - are the round overs correct? Mine seem to have a very soft curve across the sides.

Could not help but notice your router bit "bit into" your template slightly up around the curves on the headstock.. what that from buildup on the cutting blade or other?.. seems to burn there as well slightly..
