Strasbourg Trams | Revisited

Strasbourg Tramway
The tram network, inaugurated in 1994, represents a paradigm shift for tram systems worldwide. This was the first fully segregated tram system with priority over car traffic. Fully accessible, with its own platforms, equipped with ticket vending machines, waiting time panels, shelters, and maps of the surrounding area.
The lines, from A to F, pass through several places previously served by the old tram network, closed in 1960, as many others around the world.
In one of the latest network expansions, Strasbourg trams now cross the border to Kehl, Germany and become the first tram network to serve two countries.
// Accessibility
The entire network is accessible, including ticket vending machines. The stations are accessible by ramps at the tops of the platforms, all of which have a tactile pavement.
Alstom Citadis 405NG Strasbourg
These are the latest trams from CTS (Compagnie des Transports Strasbourgeois), provided by Alstom, with 100% low floor, wheelchair accessible (step-free access), with information panels inside and sound announcements.
You can find these trams mostly on line D, which cross the border to Kehl, Germany.
// Accessibility
These trams are fully accessible. The places for people in wheelchairs are located next to the cabins, where there is a symbol painted on the floor. They are painted in white, with doors in black and some elements below and on the roof in black. Inside, the walls are white, the seats' moquette are red and the bars and handles are grey.
Bombardier Eurotram
Designed especially for Compagnie de Transports Strasbourgeois, CTS, in Strasbourg. They were the first trams with a completely flat floor and aligned with the station platforms, and were also the first fully accessible to people in wheelchairs. These trams defined what would become the future of this type of vehicle. The first series of these vehicles is already being withdrawn from service as it has reached the age limit.
// Accessibility
Eurotrams are fully accessible to people in wheelchairs, with seats at each end of the trams. They have audible and visual announcements and a button to keep the doors open longer.
