If you find an irl reset button, let me know :p
I’d imagine the reason the hamster wheel starts to “break” at high RPM’s is because of centrifugal force. Basically, the faster an object spins, the more it expands. Think about taking a turn in a car really hard… you get flung to the outside of the car. The harder and faster you do that, the harder you get flung. When the wheel spins very fast, it begins to deform and stretch. I believe BeamNG has implemented this mechanic as you can see the wheels on cars begin to expand as you reach very high speeds (~200+ mph).
@askbeforeplaying2983
Жыл бұрын
It's not even that the devs implemented the feature, it's moreso that due to the way the physics is simulated it naturally exists in the simulation already. That's the beauty of BeamNG's simulation: The laws of physics aren't scripted at all. They are truly simulated, which means the effects of physics that you see in real life also naturally apply equally to BeamNG.

Classic Beamng physics explosion.
i didn't know beamng's physics was that deep that it could simulate deformations at high rpm even though it didn't consider the material since concrete would've break the moment it starts to deform. Still very impressive for this game

Reinforced concrete can deform to some extent before cracking and a lot of applications for the material actually depend on this characteristic. How resistant it is to cracking/crumbling/shearing depends on how it is cast (in built-up layers or as one continuous form), how it's reinforced (static or pre/post-tensioned), and the nature of the forces acting upon it (tension/compression/torsion/shear). Concrete ain't just concrete, it's actually a very complex material, although I'm sure it is greatly simplified in this simulation because we're not designing bridges or skyscrapers here. :)

What a perfect new and improved hamster wheel you have there But for cars
Probably centerfugal force
Amazing! Two things I'd like to see: 1. Start a car running inside the wheel like a hamster and slowly speed it up. 2. Make the diameter bigger, like absurdly huge.

visual distortion of spinning objects at high speed being translated physically into the game. things spinning that fast warp outward I believe- maybe it's taking that into account but the hitbox expands as well?
@colinvenable4140
Жыл бұрын
It's based on very real physical distortion and not just a visual effect. If you spin a skateboard wheel, for example, to a high enough speed, the rubber starts to stretch into a wider wing until it eventually tears apart. (edit: like, with compressed air or water, not just riding it lol)

I love this man! He dont talk but has the best funny and werid exprerience in beamng drive. Never stop your vid pal's
The wheel expanding because of G forces at these speeds is actually kinda realistic
I mean this makes perfect sense Since the in-game mesh itself cannot tear itself apart like it would IRL, the "centrifugal force" (doesn't exist, let's not start this) would pull it outwards, in return making the cylinder narrower. The same happens to tires, except that we can observe such IRL because rubber is a stretchy, soft material. The physics theoretically apply the same to any material, although concrete (or at least that's what i think that is) would absolutely tear itself apart way before getting anywhere near such speeds (it's bad at dealing with tension which is what spinning a circle would create)
Was not expecting to see an Eternal Cylinder video on this channel. +1 would come here again.
3:43 you destroyed the space-time-continuum, nice
I can't never get enough of these. Too funny.
Physics engine goes BRRRRTTTTT
When Beam actually mimicked centrifugal force
Honestly it feels like at a certain point the physics engine is so good that when you start doing things that would be outwardly defied by physics IRL it just says "Nuh uh no way stop"
1:45 you really needed to "squeeze" that joke in there, didn't ya?
The simulated centrifugal expension of the wheel is awesome!

Straight surgical, my guy
"the more it spins the more it deforms" That's not BeamNG's physics glitching out, it's just simulating centrifugal forces
3:15 The wheel is a dog cone now
The little Interstellar music bit got me giggling. Good one lol.
I'm shocked how accurate this still is. Imagine how much calculation and how high numbers the engine is forced to handle

Imagine being on time, couldn’t be me
1:30 Heiliger Strohsack 😂 It fits under the door 🤣
This reminds me of that Whybeare video from like 8 years ago where he tested this exact mod and played with it for a couple of videos.
Actually, the faster an object spins, the more it stretches. This is because of inertia causing a lateral acceleration, meaning that beamng gets it right.
Nice car-dboard making machine 😂😂
That's what she said 🤣
The first white car under the wheel was great. After it got spit out it was lightly on fire for just a moment. Also the merging bus got pre-dimpled on the spot where it would eventually land on the ground.
its cool that it deforms when it starts to spin just like a skateboard wheel being spun at a super high speed.
Hahahahaha the "that was she said" he really trying to hide that one
I remember back on this one car mod, very long time ago, it was just a very fast d-series. Tires blew up instantly. Back then beam couldn't handle any high speeds. But in real life, dragster cars do have expanding tires. I am pretty sure the main reason why it was fixed, was because of the two fastest automation mods.
Aww man I wanted more
1:20 japan pancake

Dude: hey where's my car Car pal: Gone, reduced to atoms 🗿
Car pal is doing more work than the hadron super collider
3:41 Car Pal is able to bend beam ng reality
3:55 I think you meant "merging *with* the highway". This looks like the perfect device for the busy on-the-go citizen who wants to have the atoms of two different objects permanently bonded together in under a microsecond.
The reason it deforms is the centripetal/centrifugal force.....
I think it would be good to see these things at normal speed too, after the slow-mo shot. :)
Put two close together, and have them spin at slightly different speeds, but rotating inwards and outwards on the same sides. This is how industrial sheering rollers work, that shred malleable things and then spray them out the other side.
Spinning disc go brrrr
"fast hamster wheels could be good for merging on the highway" but then you have it so high up that everything smashes face first into it.... However at 2:50 the noise and music gave me Interstellar vibes lol
This is centrifugal force, when you rotate an object on its axis, the forces will go from the middle towards the exterior of the rotating object, if the object is soft enough , it will deform getting bigger by the rotating forces. The game behaves very well, but the wheel is not solid enough to widstand the forces, surprisingly they programed the wheel to have some softness to it. It acts like its made of strong rubber.
Cursed image af! Awesome 🎉
Hell of a way to file a bug report.
That last "test" looked like it could be interesting but seeing how fast you get a car to accelerate, or top speed. Like boost pads in some racing games.
I laugh uncontrollably at 90% of these videos.
Going inside it while it's spinning acts like a belt sander. And going under turns everything into a tube of toothpaste. It's like multitool of destruction.
Man i never forget the steve and George
You may creat a blackhole in this game....
2:15 (Star Wars voice) "I will MAKE it fit!" ;P
The engine can handle it perfectly fine, that's just the centrifugal force pulling the walls of the wheel bigger. You can see tires do it at high speeds, 600mph car tires get huge
I love this channel.
this is the Danny2462 of BeamNG
When u play with centrifugal force
3:40 Physics has encountered a fatal error and needs to reset. Please close Physics and try again. Goodbye.
BeamNG's engine is a work of simulation genious. Doesn't mean it's perfect, because nothing is, and it has its quirks, but nowadays, you kind of have to FIND them. Moment-to-moment, it does pretty much everything you'd expect from its description. Best part is, the devs pretty much let you do whatever you want with it. Find those limits, push those boundaries, and may God have mercy on your CPU. Point being, this video found what happens when you push the engine beyond the limits of what is reasonably realistic, and it's glorious! EDIT: Additional statement.
That’s a lot of damage!
Car Pal: for some reason beamng cant handle it Me: thats exactly what should happen in real life
