I think he's fantastic. He works full-time for the firm but many think he does little because the press isn't interested in him and doesn't cover his work, not that I think he's concerned about that. He and Sophie are great assets to the monarchy, more so now they are Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

He was always my mother's and my British Grandmother's favorite and I always asked why? But I think it was because he was the youngest, and had little coverage, so as a quiet personality, these older women could project "ideal royal child" on the blank canvas.

From as far back as 1991, Prince Edward had been filling in for his father. He presented me with my Gold Award from the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme in Barbados in that year. It was only fitting that he should be given that title after Prince Philip's death.

I had a crush on Andrew when I was a teenager. Definitely not anymore. He's disgusting. There's always one in that family. During Edward VII's rein it was his oldest son, Prince Eddy (who died before he ascended and left the job for his more suitable sibling, George V.) And George V's oldest son, Edward VIII would have been a horrible monarch even if he hadn't abdicated. His brother George VI, his daughter Elizabeth II and her son Charles III have a much more appropriate sense of duty. And say what you will about Charles. His marriage to Diana may have been a disaster, but both he and Camilla fulfill their duties as they should.

i wouldn't want to be shaking hundreds of peoples hands either, coughing sneezing, nose picking, bum scratching. I'm sure he's being polite when he says he 'wants to speak with as many as possible' its more polite and less harmful than doing an alcohol wipe between handshakes.

Prince Edward spent part of his gap year here in Wanganui NZ, to this day all sorts of people speak fondly of him and how nice and polite he was

I think Edward is just quiet and a gentle soul. His wife and children are very lovely. He stepped up when his Father got older. And he and Sophie are doing so now. It's a great thing to see. And they aren't seeking attention. Prayers for the 4 of them. 🙏

Edward is light years ahead of Andrew on EVERY level. Andrew is a dreg and deserves all the come up'ins!

I can’t see that - genetics

He is a hard working royal who does his duty without any fanfare. He seems to have the happiest marriage of all of them and a stable happy family life. His wife Sophie is the same, a down to earth hard working woman and a great mother. The two of them are discreet and not trying to be something they aren't. I admire them both.

My son's grandmother was presented her award for the DofE from Edward and she said he was very nice and down to earth.

Dang, Edward looks so much like QEII father, it's unreal.

He’s very respectable, distinguished, loyal royal and supportive without envy. He’s loved.❤

I think Sophie and Edward are remarkable. At the funeral you could see the pain and devastation on their faces. I think the queen knew how. wonderful and trustworthy they are. I think he has a right to guard their privacy. BTW, the way he treats Edward is very much how he treated Diana, at least in public- Edward, particularly Edward and Sophie naturally upstage Charles because they appear to be more social and genuine people. Sophie can’t help being stunningly beautiful and graceful but instead of being jealous and vindictive - he beams with pride like his nephew’s when their ladies shine!

Edward is a good man, and he and Sophie are a valuable asset to the Royal Family and their patronages.

I always heard that Andrew was his mother's favourite.

Think Prince Edward is the most traditional Royal - good that he is not keen on hand shaking. As well, he went to Cambridge University, an excellent place to get an education. He is friendly when at public gatherings - can be friendly and personable without shaking hands, and looks sharp in his suits, he has decorum, a gentleman's presence.

It’s interesting that Charles and Anne are close in birth, but then Andrew came much later on (some say Porchester, the Queen’s longtime friend, is his biological father), then came Edward! Andrew seems to be built chunky like Porchester, the other’s are slim and balding like Philip! One wonders!

The Queen most certainly did not have an affair with Porchester which brought about a baby. Stop reading trash. The Queen had two children when she was still a princess, not for one minute believing that her father would die when she was in her 20s and she would become Queen. She didn't have much time for the first two due to the overwhelming workload and all the travel she had to make to the Commonwealth countries. Later, when everything had settled and she had everything under control, she decided to expand the family. Lord Porchester was a friend from childhood. He was the Queen's horse racing manager. At the time, any woman who had a friendship with a man must have been having an affair with him. They were the social norms of the day. Thank God most people grew up in the meantime - again MOST people.

@@franipallas5790 It was Philip's wish that Edward be given the title given that Edward was taking over the duties of the Duke of Edinburgh as he became more frail. I don't think being the Duke of Edinburgh requires what you refer to as "manliness". Edward is completely devoted to his wife.

Edward was working full-time for the firm during the reign of his mother, he didn't need to "step up" when Charles took over.

Went to same school as Edward, Gordonstoun, same year group. He was a totally nice normal guy. Or as normal and average as once can be with a full time secret service guard etc. The only strange thing was his trousers lol. His school greys were brought down at the hems, where as everyone else’s parents just bought new ones for their growing children. I guess the Queen and nannys thought they were keeping him humble. It is not as easy as one thinks, being royal, yet trying to maintain an aura of ‘I’m just like you’ So glad he is with Sophie and has an amazing daughter who fought against the limitations of her childhood illness and now she and her mother helps other victims. Knew Andrew too, and much prefer Edward.

Prince Edward is the only child of the late queen who resembles his mothers facial features so closely.

I was walking down Macquarie St, Sydney in 1993. Two black cars pulled up, security jumped out & Prince Edward appeared. He looked at me & smiled. I said to him, 'it's a beautiful day' Edward agreed & then he was gone. A security guard joked, it was all staged just for me. Amazing moment I've always remembered.

the title ‘Duke of Edinburgh’ is not an hereditary title, it returns to the crown after the current Duke passes ..and the monarch makes the decision on the next recipient.. so when Prince Philip died , the title automatically returned to Queen Elizabeth, then to King Charles and then it was given to Prince Edward ..

Actually, the title went back to the Crown after Queen Elizabeth's death and Charles became King. When Prince Phillip died, that and all other titles was actually inherited by then Prince Charles, as being the eldest son. Once Prince Charles became King Charles III, the title of Duke of Edinburgh merged with the crown

our late Magesty would have been the dowager Duchess of Edinburgh after Prince Philip passed away with the Dukedom passing to Charles as the oldlest son and by extention Camila was technically Duchess of Edinburgh but they didnt use the title, as PoW and Duchess of Cornwell were higher ranking When the Queen died and Charles became King the Dukedom merged with the crown and it became vacant to be reallocated

This is where the resentment began throughout the Monarch. No one in the Monarch had ever warmed-up to the citizenry like this….!! It was shocking. But Diana continued, and made a magnificent change in the Monarch..She breathed new life onto the stuffy old Royals. Indeed, things began to change for the better…. Oh Diana…..you were a “mover and a shaker”, may your legend live forever…..!!

Prince Edward and Sophie have always been my favorites along with Princess Royal Anne. They set the example of how others should be acting. They are always positive and supportive of Charles when he needs them most.

Something seriously wrong was he was given the role of newest toy in the family of four. The Queen was more mature as she had become more seasoned being The Queen. She had realized that after raising the first two, life is so short and she gave the 2nd two more of her time. Maybe her husband had mellowed out as well. So here comes a pretty baby who delights the whole family. The two older sibs probably played with Andrew as the new brat in the stiff palace.

Know as "Dock Yard Doris" by many he left the army under a cloud and used to - probly still does - enjoy putting on a top hat & cane a dancing to Ethel Merman & other show tunes after dinner. I feel sorry for him being thrust back into the public eye,that was where Sopie excelled & was always the plan she'd be out front & hed have his privacy. Ironically Sophie Rhys-Jones,as she was,started her London life in Coleherne Court the same block of flats as the much missed Princess Diana. After the disastrous way Charles treated Diana,everyone at Court needed the marriage to work for both of them,hence the contract. As such its been a triump,hes the only one of his siblings not to divorce & theres never any gossip about them,if only Diana had been treated with the same respect, but,she was 19 & her grandmother & the Queen mother decided shed be a good placid option,who wouldn't say boo to a goose. Though her life was regrettably too short,there are few people who have left as unindelible a mark upon the World. He & Sophie make a great team ,have two charming children and though i might have started cynically, I wish all the best going forward, particularly if Charles & William do what has to done and drop Andrew completely & cut Harry & his children from the line of succession.

I as a parent, feel for King Charles. I did not care for him when he treated Princess so badly. I know everyone makes mistakes and they both did from all I've seen on this channel if you can believe it. But my heart hurts when I see the pain on his face for choices he has to make. I don't see how Harry especially Megan can be so awful. It isn't normaI !!! I pray for this family to have this saga end soon🙏❤️

She started at soup kitchens with her mother as a child. And built water wells with World Vision in Rwanda before she married Prince Harry. There’s so much you should really check out the Duchess’s biography 🤗‼️

​​​@@s6352If she built a well we would see a footage of it every Tue snd Thu, and if she contributed any substantial money we would hear about it on other days of the week. She only created 'partnerships' with donors to get herself into photos. However, it looks like the donors got on her game and run away. After that she only 'donates' in exchange for awards to get pictures, and lately she has to get paps to do the job. 🙄

Patricia she has enhanced the reputation of her father in law, her husbands step mother and all the other Senior Royals for absolutely nothing . She has refused to take credit and keeps pretending that she has not made this significant gesture out of admiration for the role they play in the U K and across the Commonwealth.

He seems to be dedicated to the crown and very loyal. Andin general a nice guy. I Don't like Andrew.

I thought Louis resembled Michael Middleton, but after seeing the young Edward, I see a great resemblance there, too!

Rubbish - the Walkabout started with King Edward VII & Queen Mary - there are many video's of them shaking hands with the public - so too did Edward VIII - one time he had to use his left hand as he shook so many people's hands one day he coudn't use his right hand.

Edward is very influenced by the DOE - the DOE didn't like shaking hands with people either. He noted he was not running for public office and that always made him think he was campaigning.

People keep saying Andrew is the template for SPARRY. I never believed it before seeing this video. I believe Edward is a very kind person. I love him and his lovely wife and children.

Andrew was the Queen's favourite & thoroughly spoilt.

Edward was the favorite because the Queen and her husband said they learned how to relax and have fun with him.

Edward is actually well adjusted and has a loving marriage.
