Took me a while to get around to watching this. Amazing video, I was super interested in the idea of the goddess, I love the effort into researching these mythologies and even their modern counterparts and how it relates to megaten, peak smtuber

as with Dark Souls taking one step off the beaten content creator path continues to be richly rewarding, my "what is this bullshit???" as I crawl through these games is much tempered by you and Larrue's perspectives on em!

Im looking at both Strange Journey and the Womems Encyclopedia for a paper currently and I find Walkers idea of the Greek Maia being a Western version of the eastern Maya interesting for SJ because, looking at the Mothers with their respective Sector, you could kinda(?) say that, like Maia being a version of Maya, Eridanus is similar to Grus in that its illusory, since the greenery there is being projected by the technology that makes up the heart of that sector. Eridanus as an illusion is also relevant to the story as the investigation team sees it as their way out initially before being blindsided by the reality of how the Schwarzwelt is actually laid out, which leaves traces of the hindu concept of maya in maias realm of eridanus which is kinda funny

Great video. My only suggestion would be to speak a little slower. It's hard to do that when you're speaking with passion, though, you have a lot of energy.

I love Strange Journey, but with all the talk of mother goddesses and the environment I sometimes felt like the topic was going to switch to crystal healing and pressure points at any moment

Any reason you used smt I and II footage? Felt kind of distracting honestly. Were you concerned Atlus would take it down if you used too much sj or sjr footage? Anyway, what do you think about this piece of info from the megaten wiki: > In Jewish mysticism, Mem and Aleph are two of the three letters that are called the Mothers. With the three representing the primordial elements of air (Aleph), water (Mem) and fire (Shin). These three elements are said to give birth to creation. It seemed interesting, but I haven't heard it mentioned anywhere else. So I was expecting you to mention it. Though I suppose it's not surprising you didn't if it's just misinformation.

I used dungeon crawling footage because I thought it would make for good generic background footage when I didn't have anything specific to show on screen.

That bit of information from the wiki is actually accurate. I didn't include it in this video because was debating on doing an addendum video to this that specifically goes into Mem Aleph, i.e. the evidence that Walker cites for her being a real religious figure and some other religious concepts that went into developing Mem Aleph for SJ.

@@Petabik I can understand if it was that urgent. But didn't it originally come to mind to just take sj footage? Was it just a permission thing?

It seems like the loony Goddess religion is a lot more of a rabbit hole than just a bunch of loony feminists making absurd assumptions. (edit)Oh so the book is separate from the movement lmao
