Strange Characters In UK’s Weirdest Town 🇬🇧

Everyone is free to be who they want to be in Glastonbury, except Cyphers. They’re not welcome..
Pretty much everybody has heard of the legendary Glastonbury music festival, but few know much of the weird and eccentric town of Glastonbury itself. A place of myth and legend, sitting below the ancient Glastonbury Tor, the town is a place of magik and spiritualism. It attracts eccentric and diverse characters who seek an alternative lifestyle. I took a day out wandering the town’s streets and chatting to its diverse collection of unique locals. This was a day of random and frankly quite odd conversations, in a place where everyone is free and accepted to be who they choose to be. Apart from Cyphers, they’re not welcome.

I like your videos, I watch a lot, however, I find it a strange choice that you included the fella who didn't want to be filmed in the video, I would have cut it out, doesn't matter if you're not breaking the law, he opted out and that should be respected. Great video as always, don't take this as criticism, it's just my opinion. 👍

Maybe he could have walked away instead of getting into a discussion about it. Im talking about the Guy & NOT Wendall. .The guy said it was illegal for him to film him & Wendall explained there is no expectation of privacy in Public.. If that had been me then I would have walked away but we aren't talking about a normal thinking person here(Looked like he had a drink or 2). The Reading Guy even asked the other bloke to leave because he wanted to talk to Wendall & was quite happy to be filmed.

Just because it's legal to film anyone in public, it doesn't mean any other laws don't apply to you. He's actually committing offences by causing alarm and distress, stalking and harassment for KZread clout! I hate these kinds of streamers that use other people's misery for profit, harass them and then use this it's legal to film bs. If someone tells you to leave them alone and you continue to follow them and antagonise them you're breaking the law. Targeting vulnerable people, he won't be doing that to someone who can defend themselves or to anyone of size, he would quickly move on. He picks his vulnerable targets which is disgusting.

I've lived near Glastonbury and also in West Wales in the past and they have a lot in common in that aswell as attracting the Surrey green welly brigade who want to keep lamas and knit their own ethnic yogurt, they also act as a dumping ground who have records for let's say liking children. A lot of them try and stay under the radar and out of the public eye whilst carrying on with their hobby. I'm not saying that this guy is a hobbyist but it's something that newcomers moving to these type of places aren't initially aware of. I don't live far from Hay on Wye which is a low key version of Glastonbury which is another place I'd like to see a video of.

I live in a village just outside Glastonbury town, l did live there for a few months. There isn't anywhere like it. I'm from Manchester originally, the 1st time l visited here l knew l was going to move here when my kids grew up. That was 26/7 yrs ago. I found the openmindedness acceptance of others rare. I witnessed hippies, pagans, christians, jews, hari krishna's, witches, druids etc etc....all sat together & chatting in/outside cafes. Never experienced that before, also wearing whatever they like without judgment from others. No one goes hungry in this town either, always free food on offer.... It's also true the police are gentler here & more lenient. I couldn't live back in muggledom where people are so brainwashed & conditioned. I never fitted in at school or where l lived. I feel so at home here, we have amazing musicians too that put on lots of concerts. Everyday there's something on in town too, finding yourself & who you are is encouraged & not mocked. I really can't imagine living anywhere else.......

Great video as always. Even though it's legal to film someone in public, I still have my own personal code on who I would film and how closely. Especially now that social media is so widespread and worldwide, we all need to be careful about how other people feel when we film them without consent (especially if we have thousands or millions of viewers and we are in someone's local town). It's more about ethics than the law, especially if someone is obviously in pain or is distressed. I worry about those streamers who purposefully make a nuisance of themselves in public. They could negatively effect people's right to film in public in future. I think you do a great job with your moral code and are very respectful, I just wanted to vent on this subject as it came up in the video.

Everytime I'm in Glastonbury i always overhear some really bonkers conversations. The last time I was waiting outside a crystal shop for my wife and son (who were being upsold on some sort of crystal cleansing device!) I was listening to a man earnestly explaining that we were on the fourth astral plane and that the reality you think you know is all a lie! Just up the road, waiting outside of a toy shop (had the dog with us) a woman was telling a fella on a bench that he was a poet, which he did not like as he was apparently a fairy! Half an hour later I saw the same woman and she was trying to sell said weeds to passers by as lucky heather. She obviously clocked me from earlier when I walked past and she nodded and wished me a 'appy solstice'. It was late July. You know, you may have "the right" to film in public places, but a lot of people don't like being filmed. And outside their own personal home almost everywhere is public. Spouting "I have the right" is the new Western way of showing dominance without giving respect to people. Taking advantage, making money on KZread, feeling, self-righteous. You wonder why your country is turning to sh*t it's because this mentality is almost ubiquitous, yet so harmful to society. And it's not just about filming people, but everyone's entitlement to "rights" that are very individual and not respectful of society and others.

Ive visited Glasto many times over the years, made friends, had some lovely experiences. However, that gentleman's description of it being an "outside asylum" is, for me, not far from the truth. I can only visit for 2-3 days and not that often, as there is definitely a dark heavy energy there. I think its due to what was said about people who come seeking healing, troubled souls. This makes Glastonbury a real hot spot of, what one local I knew described it as, dumped negative energy. However, its so interesting and there's a sense of anything goes.

Dark energy. Haha. Rubbish. Glasto is what you make of it. Smoke smack and sit on the bench outside the coop all day and it will seem dark. Live a healthy happy life away from chasing dragons and its a happy warm welcoming place.

I love living in Glastonbury for so many reasons, but one is that there is little in the way of small talk here, even with people you've just met. They feel free to get straight to the heart of communicating their beliefs, perceptions, interests, and so on because, as one your interviewees mentioned, it feels like there's generally less judgement here. Folk have mostly come here for one reason or another to connect with spirit, and are open to sharing their journey and experiences. Scratch the surface, and you'll find people from all walks of life, and much compassion, creativity, and skill.

Been there many a times, so relaxing, the Tor is well worth the climb, when you come back down you feel so refreshed, folk say it's because of the Ley Lines that cross there, either way, great feeling. The people are really cool, they will spend as long as you want to simply sit and talk with you. Well worth a visit, the Abbey is also very tranquil and if you're lucky, yoiu may even see a monk walking the grounds. Great video BTW.

Such an interesting place, I went there years ago out of season for a wander round. The carpark always makes me laugh, in that it seems particularly neat & tidy. Got that hippie, spiritual, anti-establishment vibe, the latter being what you saw in the man not wanting to be filmed. He prob doesn't believe it's morally right to film people even in a public place, 20 yrs ago or so, more people would likely have agreed. The man doing the reading had a nice energy, would have liked to have seen more of your reading if not too personal. I think he would have sat there all day to help someone figure stuff out, seemed like he genuinely wanted to help! Really appreciated this video, your videos are always good, but it's nice to see somewhere less downtrodden than a lot of the towns visited, prob coz they have a unique perspective on life, they never really lost the "highstreet" like other places have as their shops are all independent, that in itself is really cool & unusual! I'm not sure if it might be that the town planners won't allow big chains, that is monumental in this day & age, & it has served them well if that is the case. How wonderful to see free-thinking in action for the good of everyone!

The point is that Wendell was filming the other guy. It's a real nuisance when you have people mouthing off and asserting themselves in any interaction that doesn't include them. People need to be clear on the laws about this. I've studied Film and did a lot of street filming and photography when I was younger. There's always one idiot that stands in front of the camera and asks what you're doing, or looks over your shoulder and starts yacking while you're trying to record sound.

It's a complete misconception that the town is full of hippies. Yes there may be a few but they're hugely outnumbered by the most diverse population you could imagine. It's a very eclectic mix of people from all over the world. I've lived here for 17 years and absolutely love it. I run two shops and we get the most amazing mixture of customers you could imagine. ( no, we don't sell crystals, instruments, hippy clothing or weed 😂) During the bi-annual fairy ball we have the most unbelievable range of folk in the most elaborate costumes you could imagine. We have Druid's, witches, self titled aliens and lizard folk, famous people, not so famous people. Tarot readers. Gypsys, psychics, mediums, clairvoyants, Wizards (surprised he wasn't on the street. Usually at the Abbey gateway). King Arthur's, Merlin's, Morgaine Le Fey, even Jesus Christ has returned several times in different guises. Best time to come is end of July/beginning of August for Glastonbury town at its prime I would say. There plenty 'normal' shops and lots of pubs and cafes also. Sitting and listening to some of the conversations that happen around you may be an eye opener 😂 If you would rather come when it's quiet, come during the festival, the town is a complete ghost town as Rainbow Tony stated in your video above. Glastonbury is the most amazing town in the world for the open minded ❤❤
