This is one of my favorite ankle locks! It's on a Chris Paines / BJJ Globetrotters seminar from a few years ago; he said he saw Imanari do it a few years before that. Good stuff!

correct! And apparently Imanari was inspired by Takefumi Hanai who was doing a variation of this in the early 2000s...
That inside reap concept is fantastic
I told michael langhi today about the shout out in this video. He smiled and said nice.
Such an amazing coach!
Thanks for sharing. You guys are living my dream
Amazing gonna try it out ❤️
i love these guys.
Fantastic details! Couldn't help but notice everyone on their phones haha
The “2 balls” are called the medial and lateral malleolus
Beautiful.
Uke's face says it all...
Leg attacks just keep getting more painful..

😂 bernardo was trying to practice safe bjj and to avoid dangerous training partners 11:15
this is an insane game changer as a former wrestler 2 strip white belt obsessed with trying to leg lock everyone i might become unstoppable after this technique
The breaking mechanics here are similar to what Mikey Musumeci explains in his death from below instructional.

except mikey takes 13 days to explain it with a bunch of really horrible analogies

I don't think rolling partner was being soft lol, looks sore
How do you prevent him standing before you establish the finishing position?
@Minx717

In my mind that leg over the knee cap would basically force a knee bar if they stood

Why would an Aoiki be illegal?
@RonniiV
11 ай бұрын
Because this is a blue belt video and blue belts in IBJJF can't do Aoiki locks.

Aoki lock is an inside heel hook. You can try to hide it in the gi though.
@jamesn3122

@HansDavidian weird, I guess it kind of is. I think of it as a twisting ankle lock, never had it attack the knee at all and doesn't involve reaping or anything. Just as dangerous as a straight ankle
Does he say an aoki lock would be illegal?

In white through purple, yes.
