Jerry Brainum breaks down the straight facts behind nutrient timing. When does it matter and when is it BS?
It's generally known that a person's diet and nutrition are equally, if not more, important than workouts for meeting your physique and fitness goals. What you put in your body directly effects the "fuel" used during workout and recovery. But beyond general diets - there is a concept known as nutrient timing. Does the timing of when you consume certain nutrients and supplements vastly affect the results of our workout? In our latest episode of Straight Facts, Jerry Brainum separates fact from fiction with a complete breakdown of nutrient timing before and after your workout.

I used to have imsomnia, being a a Bodybuilder I really need good and deep sleep for optimal growth. I started taking Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc 3x daily and now I fall into a deep sleep every night and feel rested upon waking.Bye bye imsomnia.

Everything Jerry says is exactly my status of knowledge. A statement on Amino Acids (EAAs/ BCAAs) (+Electrolytes) and Pre-Workout would have been interesting.

I do the protein shake post workout, mainly because I have to ride the subway and walk a couple miles before I can grab a bite, so convenient I guess

I eat 200 g of protein a day spread over two meals typically. You don't need to eat five or six times a day. As long as you get your protein and that's what matters. The intensity of your training is what makes the real difference

I was taking dairy with whey protein without fruits and in blender (heat doesn't do as much), and common dairy yogurt with blended fruit WITH ON a vegan diet. I thought it was pretty good. I think M Wahlberg was criticized for this the dairy part as far as I know.

Casein protein I always here before bed which I can’t do but wouldn’t taking it maybe an hour before a workout be ideal? Having some protein releasing while you’re working out?

This doesn't sound like it would taste good but it's delicious: put it in the blender with 1-2 tablespoons of peanut butter. 🤤The unsaturated fat will slow down digestion so it will slow down absorption to last you longer through the night.
