Thank you for this video! Just subbed. This is one of my go to weapons against other white belts and blue belts, it’s saved me so many times. My coach gives great tips to my worthy opponents as they defend, but finally, this video gives me some counters to their ankle defenses, particularly the boot counter. Thank you very much for this. -white belt from California

How do you prevent an estima lock, how do you stop them from just kicking you in the Butt to push you off?

Thanks for the video Lachy. What do you think of inside straight ankle locks (where the leg would be on the opposite side of your body (opposite to the position in the video) but the leg position would stay the same)?

Question: would the replacement foot on the hip (once the opponent clears the first foot) be considered a reap if it were to continue on its path and land on the mat for instance? Also, would it be considered a reap anyways, if the first foot post on the hip (with the outside foot) remains in place, and you bring the other foot across and post it on the mat, instead of in between the opponents legs?

I don’t believe so, I think it would just be suboptimal because then you’re in a 50/50 position and they can also ankle lock you

Excellent as usual Lach, Quick question though; when you replace your brushed-off left foot with your right foot onto his hip, wouldn’t your training partner simply brush it off too?

they have to put it all the way back, if they put it to the same side as the last one then they're gonna knee-bar themselves before they free their ankle

I'm not clear on the grip detail of letting their heel in front. You mention Jason Rau showed it to you but im unable to see it anywhere.

0:45 If the guy does the first defense (turning away), won't that expose the heel and they could switch to attacking the heel hook? Am I missing something?

The could redo the video but perhaps before they do so you might want to rewatch it. However on the second viewing try not being such a little bitch. Might help alleviate your frustration.
