storytime :) my job before i went Viral on TikTok
Ойын-сауық
Hi I'm Adam and thanks so much for coming to my channel. People have been asking what I did before TikTok and YT and I wanted to tell the story about how I arrived here. I am so grateful for all the support I have received and thank you :) We also made this really nice pot which I am super proud of.
Each segment of the pot was about 10lbs of clay. The whole thing just needs to dry out and once its firm I can trim it. Then we can pull it off the pottery wheel and get it glazed.

I can already tell that I love this video! I’m a painter myself, and I love hearing another artist’s life story cuz it’s so “similar but different” at the same time. Thank you for being you and hope u have an amazing day 🫶🏻

I’m a painter who recently became a potter also, and I can relate to this comment 🙇🏽♀️🤗🥰🤎
I applaud you for having the courage to follow your passion. I was a television producer/director and burned out after 37 years and now I am happy teaching sewing, cosplay costume construction and embroidery software.😁

I worked about 10 years as asst editor in film and am astounded that anyone can last for an entire career in that industry, it's absolutely punishing
Thanks for sharing, Adam. When I was in high school, I also arrived early, so when my art teacher (Mrs. Q) opened her door I could spend the extra time messing around on the wheel or painting. My entire senior year was practically spent in the art room. I thought I would go to art school, but I went a different path. Now, I hardly do art anymore. Never had the confidence to take it further. I really enjoy your videos, and admire your work. Thanks again for sharing!
Dude! You didn’t “waste” much time!! You definitely benefitted as an artist and business owner by your time in college and in the workforce, and I’m certain you will come to see that. It is not only practicing art that develops your art practice, and you are very, very young!!
I work in a soul sucking job and recently started learning pottery, one of the many hobbies I have picked up in life. I really have no expectations of turning it into a living, but it would be nice to be able to supplement my income so I could move into a less soul sucking job. Thanks for the vid

Aww thank you, im glad you started. It definitely saved me
Love this video and the story of how you got to where you are now! I'm 44 and about to start my own pottery adventure and you've defo been an inspiration. Cheers
I started ceramics 8 years ago; I fell in love. It turned into "therapy" for me. I'm getting a studio put in my backyard so I can start back up. It's been a few years since I have done it. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
I am here for the smile at the end of it admiring the creation !
I can relate to the overly supportive parents. Both were artists in there own craft. It felt like this incredible gift, I was an only child, I didn't want to let them down, they hadn't placed any expectations on me but I wanted to repay them. I had so many options, so many interests, I didn't know what to pick and because of that I wasted a lot of time trying to take my first step. I was too hyperfocused on not messing up. I'm glad you've found a good place for yourself! Im still learning to run, after barely starting to walk.
just discovered your channel! love your authenticity in your videos and in your works. keep it up! you're talented ✨
i loved hearing your story! Thank you for sharing your art. i am rooting for you
Thanks for your story. At age 76, I look back to when I started my clay studio. Enjoy the craft. Pottery led me to painting and other forms of being creative and now I still throw a pot once in a while. cheers.
Thank you for sharing! Love getting to know you better. Inspiring story, and as usual calming and relaxig video, loved it a lot! 😊
I love hearing another artist talk about how they came up because we dont get to hear that often and we can feel less alone by sharing! I also felt regret going into college and not studying art. I also felt late to the game and still working on my craft and bettering it. I do wish i had supportive artsy parents but mine were old school and maybe had some artsyness in them but were too caught up in surviving growing up. There is entrepreneurial lifestyle in my family which atleast i can say that which also inspired me as an adult. Everything honestly works out as it should!!!! congrats and i wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I need this push to go after my creative dreams. I just haven’t been motivated in the last 6months. Ps!! I’m loving the style of the pot you are creating
I love that 25 is considered a whole career. So jealous and thank you for sharing! Burned out at 42, lol. Also my mom worked at Argonne and I regularly walk that loop! Currently taking classes at Via Clay. This is so inspiring.
The important thing is you're happy. That's how you know that no time was wasted, and that no wrong choices were made - they all led you precisely to this moment where you're enjoying your life, and you're able to earn a living doing something you're passionate about and makes you happy. And you even get to make other people happy in the process.
A couple of shorts and I am here; I literally had tears in my eyes watching this. You are touched by the muse. That charisma to transform a handful of clay to dream. " Love from Goa"
I'm glad you made it because you are a very good content creator

Adam ,your story is amazing. All your experiences led you to the place where you are now . Best wishes and have a great day . From London UK.👍👍👍🍀🍀🍀🙂🙂🙂
Soo inspirational ❤ Just goes to show that whatever you want to do you sometimes have to make risky sacrifices. Really proud of you 🎉🎉
Your story is inspiring dude
Great Video, Cool to hear how you started! Keep up the amazing videos!
Wow it's so beautifull pot. I love Your videos and don't stop your works..
Don’t stop I love your videos
Thats such an interesting and inspiring story. I think its massivly underrated to get a "normal" job as a creative to have financial stability and time to evolve and develop organicly as an artist as opposed to having to "adapt" to some marked or expectation. And I think taking part in a daily routine with people and reponsability on the job helps to develop as an artist. Anywways, I am really happy it worked out for you 😊
I could tell from the very first time I saw your video, there's something about you. I really love the bold step you took in becoming your own boss and freedom that comes with it. Keep it up, you make amazing videos and now whenever I come to KZread your videos is the first thing KZread refers me to😂. Love from Nigeria 🇳🇬

I’m already obsessed 😭 I’ve always wanted to take a pottery class. It reminds me of Jesus where His word says he’s the potter and we are the clay. I just love this! I wished you were here residing in New York to be able take my classes. Blessings 🙏🏼🕊 wishing you all the best!

I just came to this channel casually but as I listen to him I am falling asleep. Your voice is so soothing.
This is great! I’ve always wanted to know your backstory. When I started following you weren’t you helping your dad build a deck at their house in North Carolina?
I'm a senior in highschool this coming school year and since seventh grade i've been looking at myself wondering when im gonna figure out what i wanna do with my life... this past school year i was in my lowest pit as far as what i want to go into. yk everyone would say "you have lots of time you'll figure it out" but all i could think of was "it's been 5 years and i still have no clue, not even a hobby". i started watching your videos beginning of 2023 and honestly this is the first time ive ever been excited to do something! ive been meeting up with my art teacher over the summer to do some throwing classes and if all goes well ill be doing it for years to come. thank you so much for your inspiration... you gave me something to look forward to ❤

That may be why there was that downtime for you, you hadn't come across your desire yet. There will always be times like that in life. It is normal. I am glad you are pursuing what makes you happy. Practice a lot and know that we all make mistakes making pottery. Have lots of fun!
Dude I just took a clay class today and I now have soooo much respect for your level of talent

Amazing artist 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Good for you, so cool!
Never regret. There are things we learn in places we never thought we would. Sometimes the things we learn apply to what you do more than you realize until you have that awakening of sorts. life is chalk full of twists and turns, but sometimes we need those to get to where we are. I enjoy your work, I know I could never do that sort of thing, but to watch someone else do it makes me smile. I do electronics and old tube radio repair, and some of the things I learned outside this work helps me with what i do. I wish you the best, and keep doing what you do, you are fantastic at it.

So interesting....revealing.... professional....nice❤
I’m looking into getting into this for fun. I tried to sign up in my city in Wisconsin but everything was booked until next year. Hopefully, I find another class.
hiiii!!!!!! love u soooo muuuch❤️❤️ i’ve always been into artistic stuff and i so admire who has creativity and art inside❤❤ i just wanna ask u a question, do u paint the pots as well? cuz u never show that part
i dont think youll see this but its honestly insane that im watching this rn. im a junior in mech e at u of i that went to imsa and i get the feeling you were also mech e lol. I finally started taking pottery classes last summer and sometimes i dream of becoming an artist/potter/musician. ill honestly probably take a similar career path as you :0
You look very charming The more I watch you work on each piece, it makes me really enjoy it. FC from Thailand
This is a crazy story
Very Very good!!!
Well, you're quite talented as well 😊.
I had no idea the start to adam's career is almost the same as what my plan is. College is money therefore it's gotta be for money, so I'm doing engineering. If I can't do pottery as a career, I could afford it as a hobby kind of thing. About to go to college next year after doing ceramics everyday for hours in highschool. We'll see what happens ig!
🇮🇶I loved this, your follower from Iraq
How wonderful this is for you. Well I had started to build my first channel at Blue Water Pines where I was going to feature long leaf pine needle baskets and eBay shut me out of my own content then commercialized it???😳 so making it as such is just a stellar experience. Keep going ! Thank you for filming and sharing your exchange of ideas through your process.

That heartstopping moment wondering how the heck you’re going to get that big ass vessel off the wheel

About your regrets. It is funny how skills can generalize to other areas. Maybe your engineering background isn't such a waste... it may inform your ceramic structures. Not everyone can pull off a thin-walled 30 pound vessel. Unrelated, the matt under the bottom bat caught my eye. What is that all about?
I heard many artists talk about their journeys, and all in all, they were very similar to yours (and also mine). From my childhood, I loved sculpting and painting, so I applied to art high school, but... I wasn't brave enough to go there, probably because of the voices around me in my family. 'It won't be valuable knowledge; you won't make a career, get a job, and make money', so I was afraid. Is it time to pick a university? and guess what? I'm still afraid, so I applied to med school instead of art school and failed because I didn't really want to go there. Now I'm taking a gap year and trying to figure out what to do and where to go, even though I know the answer because it's simple. I want to paint; it's my passion.
I love the content, but oh dear! You’re so young that you think 25 is ”later in life” and a whole career later 😂
🎉🎉😮😮
Guys tell him he's my crush Every video I watch of him I fall in love 😢❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
اذا عدنه فخار بل بيت نكدر نشرب بيه ماي لو لا ؟؟!!!!!!!!!
Do you make and sell your pottery based on client requests? Or do you just make whatever you want and then sell it afterwards?
You gained, or at least developed, practical planning, design and project execution strategies which I suspect were innate but somewhat latent. The stereotype of the poor struggling artist came to be, precisely because it is rare to have those attributes combined with artistic talent in an individual. You have likeability and good looks on your side which, when added to the aforementioned, opens most any door you care to step through. Enjoy everything!! This is YOUR time. XoXo ✌️😻💯
I was on the edge 😅when he was picking up the pot and stepping out the I could hardly focus on this talking part 😂 I am a engineer too and have just developed a passion for pottery but have love to play with clay since childhood so long story short don’t know how far I can go but started with pinch pottery pls wish me luck
@thrdfloor3F this is a random question, but what is the kind of hoya that you have on the shelf behind you when you throw? I’ve been looking around but haven’t been able to find the exact one. thanks!!
Hii, can i help you with description writing, vdo editing, thumbnail making, shorts editing if you want😊
I didnt go to art school either; I hated med school. It was the most miserable time of my life.
Clay is very good in quality...we in india buy the clay from villager and they prepare it for us at low cost
Why are not making since 2 months
No time wasted, its easier to make a Decision with financial stability than having to worry over if you have rent for next month.Though some artists have gone thru that but everybody's path is diffrent.
Meh 2. I had Corporate Job. Then I became really sick. In the last two years I have discovered the real me again. I left school and went to Art school, managed 1 full year and then ran out of money, went to work full time and ended up in Corporate office and working very hard to earn.
