This episode needs to be submitted for a Poddy, or whatever the Oscar's are for podcasts. I listen to a LOT of podcasts, and Dutch's retelling of Brody's death was more powerful than anything I've ever heard on NPR or This American Life. Seriously. This story deserves to be heard by a huge audience, a non-wrestling fan audience, it's a heart breaking story everybody who's lost a friend can relate to. Very powerful stuff. Thank you Dutch. 💜

The thing that people don't realize is that back in those days kayfabe was very protected in Puerto Rico. A lot of the Puertorrican population believed that wrestling was a shoot. That's why many of the fans would get so violent when the heels won matches with dirty tactics. Coincidentally, I believe that is part of the reason why the puertorrican jury bought into the Bruiser Brody slander. Even if there was some vague understanding of wrestling being staged, there was no clear notion of wrestlers playing a character when stepping into ring.

Anytime anyone talks about Brody, it's two things, being a monster in Japan, and Puerto Rico. Dutch mentioned going down the road with Brody and I thought we were about to get some stories but he got sidetracked and we went right into the damn P.R. story. Good to hear Dutch's take on it, but I would love to hear real stories of working with Brody in the ring, , and stories of traveling with him etc. As a kid Brody scared the shit out of me, probably the only wrestler from that era that I legitimately thought was a 'monster', and honestly as an adult I still don't know for sure what the guy was really like, and nobody ever talks about him or has stories, other than f'ing Japan and getting stabbed. Love the show and wold love it if Dutch has any good, or even not good, stories about Brody that don't involve Puerto Rico,

Tony Atlas has stated that Jose was supposed to pick Brody up at the hotel but no showed and that he had told several people he was owed $40K by the office and that he was going to get his money by the end of the tour even if he had to "beat the hell out of them" to get it. He also said when he, Mantell and Brody walked into the locker room that Colon, Jovica and Jose "looked like they seen a ghost". It almost makes me wonder if Brody was supposed to be taken out at the hotel.

I hope you can read out this comment soon James. I just need to make this point so let me talk to ya... I don't think LA Knight should be turned face yet just because the fans cheer for him. He's not properly been established as a heel. The fact that fans cheer for him doesn't mean they want to see him as a 'good guy', it's because nowadays it's more popular to cheer for a heel than a face, aside from the select few legends that make their sporadic appearances. LA Knight is great but he's early into his run, so lets see him keep his current memento going for a while. If you turn him face now then the appeal will slowly die out. You need him to not care about anybody and do what he likes against both heels and faces. That's what is 'different' as opposed to being on one side or the other. Yeaahh!

Great episode for many reasons. Loved James’ rant on Russo, and I like Russo for the most part. He can be described as a Drama Queen at times. I still feel like Russo has done more for wrestling figures on Social Media than a certain cheeseburger loving individual has ever done. Don’t believe me? Ask Russo to come on the show and then ask Mr. Sprite Cheeseburger, and we’ll see who bites first. And I used to be a big fan of Corny. I won’t bore you with the details as to why I’m not part of The Cult anymore, but I’ll just point back to asking him to come on the show. I’ll eat a piece of Dutch’s tobacco laced mustache if Jim ever comes on. I’m not kidding! Call me on it if you find a way to make that happen. Regardless, I am proud to now declare myself a Disciple of Dutch! And for what it’s worth: I would give my right and left arm to be in the same position that James is in

Jocephus Hudson would have been perfect for the Bruiser Brody movie imo. He was influenced by Brody during his early wrestling career and was known as Jocephus Brody (Dutch's idea!), and also acted in the flashback scenes in Brody's episode on Dark Side of the Ring. Plus anyone who knew Jocephus knew he was a thespian. Rest in peace to two great men, gone too soon.

Maybe Dutch isn't the person to ask this question, since he witnessed Brody getting murdered. But I would like James to ask someone why all these wrestlers love Bruiser Brody so much? His style, best I can tell, was the no sell everything and stiff the shit out of his opponents. They lovingly tell stories about how he would take liberties with green guys but other wrestlers who did the exact same thing were unprofessional assholes. On one hand, he held up promoters and no showed events but they bemoan the end of the territories, which happened partially because stars would no show events and kill towns. Is Brody only fondly remembered because he was murdered in the locker room?

The ratings is easy to figure. See what else is on and go from there. Any major sports event (I mean real) puts a dent into ratings. Popular TV shows, Special's, you name it affects ratings. Not to many wrestling shows to see now anyway as far as big events go or a big match.

James is spot on about russo. He was essentially a nobody , wrestling gave him an opportunity. Russo over the past few years has not only crapped on wrestling, hes also accused the fans of being homosexuals, psychotic and obsessive , among other names. Vince can always walk away and do something else. Personally i think hes a twat and i can see why jim cornette despises him.

My argument with the time is, If they would wrestle most of the time It would be worth watching..... But, They don't. They wrestle...... Commercial for five. Ten minutes. They come back from commercial, The match you were watching is over. Then the wrestlers talk and scream forever....... Man, Stop talking and going to commercial and WRESTLE!

Dutch, even with Kenny Bolin being arrogant and a narcissist. Even with him cutting you off mid sentence. I could listen to Kenny Bolin all day even when he rips into you. He is that good.

Great episode until 1h45min until Sean discusses the movie - the biggest worry about making the movie "authentic" - it needs to stay away from CGI crowds - you need real packed crowds, Brodys swinging chain, the people going mental, the flying chairs. That would be authentic! like the Rocky movies - it needs to work like that please dont try to make a cheap ass/cgi film - take a look at the 'real wrestling movie' similar to Blood and Guts in the late 70s anyway that me signing out!

Kenny Bolin truly has one of the most inflated opinion of oneself that I’ve ever seen. He’s literally a zero, and thinks he’s wrestling royalty. He was very rude to James, and glad to hear Dutch reprimanded him. I don’t need to hear Kenny anymore lol.
