I was dating someone in college for just over a month, and we had just made things "official." I was in a play at school, and we were gearing up for our opening day. He was really supportive and would take me out for late meals to make sure he saw me, and things were fine - he was nice, but something felt off, too. The few days before opening night, I kept trying to get together with him - my intention was to end it. I kept calling and trying to make plans, but all of a sudden, he wasn't available. On the opening night, I finally thought to myself, "It's over, I can't just stay in this relationship and wait to have this face-to-face with him," so I called and apologized, but broke up to him on the phone. That night, after the show, we had a cast party at a local restaurant. I kept looking at this guy across the room, who also kept looking at me. After a half hour of "making eyes" at each other, I laughed at my friends in the show that I just broke up with a guy, and no one really meets in a crowded restaurant, and I should quit looking. A few minutes later, I looked back up, and he was gone, and I used that as a sign that it just wasn't meant to be...but within two seconds of that realization, a napkin note was placed in front of me from the guy! He said that I was cute, but he had to go, and he wanted me to call him. I thought it was so bold that I called him the next day. That was almost 16 years ago, and I haven't gone a day without him in my life since. This year will be our 10th wedding anniversary. Sometimes things don't work so that something better can.

This is by far one of my favorite videos of yours. I love seeing you talk about things like this, it feels like chatting with a friend. I was laid off from a marketing job I had been at for 8 years in February of 2019. I was crushed, angry, and scared. But not even an hour later, I had spoken to a friend and they had said something very similar to yours. They had an opening they had thought I'd be perfect for and within 10 days I was getting ready to fly out for a 5 hour final interview. It was the most stressful time but the best blessing in disguise.

I just can’t even relay how much I needed this video. I recently moved to Texas and starting my new job in a few days. I know the feelings you are describing. I’ve always wanted my own space but it’s terrifying especially that first night alone. I think the hardest thing for me was realizing I would have to start over and wouldn’t know all the “in” things to do. Unfortunately due to the virus I can’t go and find a church to join at this moment. I will also be the youngest at my job, not by as much, but also one of very few females all who are much older. I am super thankful I have my dog, Zeus, with me to have a buddy on this journey. I loved your story and hope things work out for me as well as they did you. I know there are times things will get rough, but I have to remind myself God has a plan. ❤️

I feel more connected to you when you discuss your background and how it has shaped you, so I reallyy appreciate this. I to had an experience similar to yours where I thought the man I was with would be the one forever. When he broke up with me he said ‘you will find the man out there who you are desiring, who treats you the way you deserve, it’s just not me.” In denial, I thought it was him all along and I didn’t think that would ever happen. That was the Lord talking through him. Only a short time later I met that man who treats me the way I deserve, like he had said. I appreciate you discussing this rawness as I feel EVERYONE needs this! Keep the videos like this coming :)

My husband and I had only been dating for a couple of months when at dinner he slips and says "Well, when we get married..." My jaw had to be in my lap. I said "What was that?" He replied "What did I say? Oh, yeah... well.... you know... we are going to get married." He was just so calm and confident, like it had already been written. It's crazy because I had recently told my best friend that I knew he was the one but after a past bad relationship I wanted to take things slow. Well, we were engaged at 6 months dating and married the week of our one year anniversary. Slow.. not so much, but 13 years later we're still going strong! BTW, I loved this video, I could listen to you talk all day.

Great story, Blair! Funny how you said about feeling so different 12 months later. I am living in the UK with my English husband, feeling lonely, isolated (in life, as well as in this crazy pandemic!), lost. And in one year’s time we will be living in the US, where I can drive (strangely difficult thing to be without), be amongst my family and friends and thrive. I have been telling myself that soon enough everything will be the way it should be, so it was nice to hear the same from you! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for sharing this story with us all Blair❤️. What an amazing journey you had. One thing my momma always told me when she was alive is that “ god has a plan for you “. I never really believed that until she passed away and I got married to by husband. My mother was fighting cancer for 5 years of which she was in remission for 3 of those years. One of my best friends from a previous job ( Shelly) had been helping take care of my mother while I was in nursing school. Well Shelly had twin boys whom I knew and met several times ( one who was living in Vegas most of his life). Tragically my mother passed away on Valentine’s Day in 2014. Shelly then unfortunately got diagnosed with cancer as well and her son Robert moved up here to help care for her. Well, that is the time we really got to know each other and we have now been together for 5 years. Almost married for 2 years. His mother Shelly passed away unfortunately as well. I always say that my mother brought us together. It’s weird. I think that if his mother never got sick ( which obviously I wish she didn’t), him and I never would have gotten together. It’s weird how things workout sometimes. Sorry this is so long. Thanks for sharing. I wish I lived closer to you.. I totally could see us being friends.. or I would hope😀 god bless to you and your family ❤️

Such a beautiful story! I moved from Portland, OR to Tucson, AZ in July 2018 to be with my boyfriend while he attended law school. We broke up three months later, but I decided to stay in AZ because I had found a job teaching middle school history and French that I adore (and I loved having my cute little apartment, too!). In July 2019 I went on a first date with an incredible man, and 8 months later, we are talking seriously about our future and beginning to make plans for marriage and next steps. For a little while, it felt like my world was falling apart, but I am so grateful I stuck this adventure out! I gained so much independence, so many friends, and a love like I could never have imagined. Can’t wait to see where the rest of your story takes you!!

Getting laid off sucks. I can relate. You have to focus on the things you can control, and covid-19 and layoffs are out of our control. Our time, energy, and effort are within in control. So I’m trying to focus my time on my family, my energy on staying positive, and my effort in trying to find another position. It’s times like this that define you, and how you react to them.

I'm loving the abundance of Blair videos! I have a super long story that I'd love to share all of, but it's a novel (I'll try to condense it). I was student teaching last semester and after about halfway through I started having a really bad experience with my master teacher and uni supervisor which was stressful enough but alongside classes and dancing due dates for assignments, as well as CA wildfires. About the same time, someone that I knew from a Twitch stream had been deployed (Navy sailor) for about a month but had to be evacuated off due to a medical emergency not a week after departure. After he got home and was settled, we started getting to know each other slightly better than we had through calls and texting (all during my stress, breakdowns and due dates). Once things started to get really bad on my end, he entered my life and although I really didn't have the time to give that I had anyways, we got to the point of him asking me out - which was literally the only bright point in my life as I had just been told that I needed to restart the program that I was in because (in many, many fewer words) my teaching sucked. I'm still very thankful for his bright spot in my life, and I for him. I can't say that we're anything more than dating (haven't even met in person 🤦🏼‍♀️) but I highly doubt I could have gotten through that period in my life without him.

Thank you, as always! I cried throughout the whole story! I can relate so much. I felt like I wasn't being obedient to God by staying in my longterm relationship, and then felt the same peace you did about ending it. Then, it became clear within a month who I was meant to marry! Have never heard someone else explain that same feeling of disobedience before, and have always loved how you and Riley are a match made by God, just as I feel about my husband! I always say that we have an arranged marriage - arranged by God. It was planned from the beginning.

Blair! This is amazing... thanks so much for sharing! I found myself tearing up during your story. I have had similar moments in life where I have felt God speaking to me so clearly and guiding me in one direction or another. Obedience is totally key and being able to recognize His guidance and having faith that He knows best. So awesome! On another note... I live in NC and work in Raleigh. I love this place! I remember you mentioned wanting to find a place for family vacations in a different video. Our little family generally spends a week at Topsail Island every year (when we aren’t planning for Disney). It’s a wonderful place to slow down (not much to do) and just enjoy beach life and family. Take care!

Thank you Blair for such a wonderful story. I love your voice, it is so calm and soothing. It is funny the truth within similar paths. I too, had a long term relationship that I had ended after finally being obedient. I met someone when I wasn't looking and a month later he asked me to marry him. We will be celebrating our 30th anniversary in October. Have faith

Oh Blair, I know if we could meet we would be instant friends! Our lives are so parallel! I had very similar (almost exact) events happen in my life. I also got out of a 3 year relationship and met my husband shortly after and I told my sister after our 9 HOUR date that I was going to marry him. I had never felt such a strong connection with someone! And here we are coming up on 6 years of marriage madly in love with 2 kids! Thank you so much for sharing! I felt like I was sitting and listening to a friend! Thanks for always being real 🙂

I loved hearing you talk about this! Fun fact my boyfriend and I started dating in 2011. He’s 9 years older then me. I had a crush on him in high school. At the time he was delivering for Schwans Foods. Fast forward to 2nd year of college and twice a week we’d cross paths on the highway and we always waved at each other. Then I spent the next 2 1/2 years at a college out of state. I didn’t know he was still around by the time I moved back home. I got a job at the local grocery store and just happened to see him there one day. Then I boldly found him on Facebook and we’d chat on there every once in while. We both were in relationships at the time. By 2010 he was single and working for a different delivery company and I was ending my relationship. They day I broke up with my ex, he had texted me asking how my day was going, when he found out he told me to meet him at his next stop. He gave me a huge hug and asked me to stop over after he was home from work (he was living on the other side of the block of where my parents house was). By August 2011 we officially became a couple, by April 2012 I moved in with him and the rest is history!

This is such a great video. I absolutely love your story. I’ve lived in Texas for eleven years and my life totally fell into place when I moved to Texas as well. I met my husband after moving here and we fell in love and were married quickly too. God has a plan and when we let his plan happen, it is just amazing.

Sitting here with tears just flowing, God is speaking through you and I thank you so much for allowing it. I too had my whole life planned, great job (still have one as a labor and delivery RN💗) with visions of a beautiful life with my new husband from college. When he suddenly walked out on me with no warning after only 5 months of marriage and filed for divorce my world fell apart. Not many friends, now almost divorced at 26, still looking for my church home; I’m still waiting for the end to my story. I know that when it comes I’ll look back and I too will wonder what I might have missed had this not all happened. Thanks for the reminder💜

I loved listening to you tell your story. I had read some of it on your blog, but having you tell it gives it more life. I was in a long term relationship that I ended as well. It was something that I should have done earlier in the relationship but never could bring myself to follow through. Then one morning, I woke up and just knew I had to do it. It was the best and hardest decision up until that moment of my life. God does have a plan and sometimes when we choose to ignore it, you start to get stronger signs. At least that is how I felt. You and Riley were meant to be. Great story, thank you for sharing.

I met my husband while we were working at a movie theatre just turned 18 and had graduated from high school and started college. I had told a fellow coworker that I close to at the time that I thought he funny and cute. So she set up a day that we could all go bowling and asked if my now husband if he could pick me up since I didn't drive at the time. well everyone else was "decided" to be two hours late! So my husband and I bowled and talk while we waited for everyone else. Over the next couple of weeks we started to hang with friends a lot then slowly quite asking friends and just started hanging out by ourselves. I knew he was the right one for me within a month of us properly dating. We will being celebrating our 17th year this October.

You have no idea how much I needed to hear this! I needed to hear how a bad or difficult situation can turn out as a blessing in the end. That it could lead to something much better than one can image. I am currently out of work because of the Corona virus. It has me scared, upset, and even doubting my faith. But when you said God has a plan, I swear, I felt like a weight had been lifted. Although, I am still worried about the future, I will continue to pray and remind myself that GOD has a plan. And, if I can just get through this, something better will come out of this in the end.

Oh my goodness, Blair. Your story is giving me ptsd from my last corporate job. It's emotionally exhausting thinking about it. Thank goodness that time in my life is over./ It's completely a God thing that James called Riley to tell him about your break-up! Amazing./ This storytime was so perfectly timed. Thanks for sharing and see you next time!

I was in a year long (mentally exhausting) relationship. It ended Halloween of 2015. I reconnected with my neighbors best friend (we were friendly but that was it) and by thanksgiving I had a new boyfriend. We were married in January of this year and are working on starting our family! God’s time is perfect.

I dated this guy from senior year high school to sophomore year of college. I went to school in north TX and he went to school closer to Houston. It was great for a while, but I found that I was setting my self on fire to keep him warm. I did all the work to maintain the relationship and I was getting very tired. My relationship with the lord was not great also. I broke up with him October of my sophomore year because on my birthday, he never said anything- no text, call, nothing. I felt so hurt, but then I looked around at all the friends I made and I realized that what I needed was them at the moment. Months following, I was flying so high. I sort “dated myself” and found out more about my self (what I believe in etc). Then, one night, I had just finished going to a class 6-8pm and my friends were asking me out to go two-stepping. Going out late like that was out of the ordinary for me, but something in my gut told me that I deserved to have fun with my friends that night. When we arrived, we danced and laughed and then I locked eyes with this one guy. I looked away and looked back at him, but he was gone. Suddenly, I felt a tap on my shoulder and it was him! He asked me if I wanted to dance. We danced and talked until the sun came up. It felt like time stood still. Then, he mentioned that he was nursing major and his parents were both nurses- just like me!! He then told me his hardships, which I appreciated and he told me that he made it through with determination and Him. He pulls out this gold cross necklace underneath his flannel. I’m so glad I listened. We have been engaged for a year now and we have a cute little Shiba Inu. They both mean the world to me! Thank you Lord for this.

So, I've been catching up on your videos today and I cannot explain the connection I feel to you. While I am not nearly as faithful or devoted to God as you, we have had a lot of similar experiences and it just reminds me that we are never alone, even when we feel the most alone. You talking about having you relationship fall apart and then so quickly you found Riley, is so much like what I went through just before meeting my husband. It happened differently, but it is so clear that my previous relationship with C needed to end (and feel truly ended) so I could move forward. It wasn't even 6 months later that a guy I had met in school a few years prior, sent me a message out of the blue on a dating app. That was it. We were talking all the time and dating before we knew it. From August 2012 to November 2013, my world was completely changed. As of today, I am happily married, living in a house (I hate), and we just had our first baby in September after 2 1/2 years of infertility. Thank you, Blair, for being here! You are such a lovely soul and I love being able to follow you on here.
