When I was, .( 12 ) Tubby ..was ( the ) ONLY name that was truly mashing up the place because of the Avant guard ',..experimental ground breaking way of ( interpreting ) and re recording , versions of already recorded records .. every teenage Black boy in South London was Rocking Tubby ,..Uroy ," Version Galore " ,.." Rasts Ambassador" ,...and the first Real ' REGGAE 'Super Star " BIG YOUTH "...those day's we're like Christmas man .

Such a flashback in what you are saying, everytime I would touch a record shop, people would say after their prized records, everyone would ask "Where did you get those records from"?, one would answer I got them from "Tubbys musical basket!!!

I love the sound system when I went to the carnival decades ago I would follow the various sound systems fantastic documentary on the great king tummy

I an a black man living in London England and I grew up with the music of Tubby as a child and have been studing his music ever since. Now at 63 when I play his music I still can't believe what I am listining to. For the last 20 years I have been producing music in the style of Tubby in many different genres. Many people around the world produce dub but they can't do it like Tubby but I actualy can. When I heard that he was murdered I could not forgive myself for not going to look for him when he was alive. As you know he made a few albums however it was the 45s that were the real meat and drink, I have the majority of his work. The collection has taken 50 years to get hold of. You have produced a great piece of work here.

Yes..... King Tubby is number one in my collections..... Truth.

I have been learning for 40 years. In music technical college the tutors wondered how I could do such things, indeed I had to show them how it was done. Let's not forget, mimicry is the greatest form of flattery. We all love Tubby.

Another great video, thanks. What a revolution he launched throughout music in general. As great as that of reggae itself, possibly. Punk gigs circa '77 got me on to Rockers and Dub. Long time ago, but I'm still listening to Tubby, Perry, etc.

Tripping tunes, the whole mix of effects expanded my buzz to another level beyond the sigh of those who have no vision, other genes of music tried to follow but lacked the dept and class of the originators, the old school still sounds fresh to this day :)

I love King Tubby! Great episode! I hope you'll do one on Joe Gibbs, his African Dub albums are among my all-time favorites.

I used to go to the local record stores in the 90's and search for used reggae CD's. Much of the time I had no idea who they were, but if it looked like it might be roots I would take a chance. Most of the time the mystery bands were disappointing and would turn out to be dance hall etc and I would sell them back again. One time I bought a King Tubby's greatest hits and what a treasure! Still listening to it...

RAS, you are a saint, mi bredder😂❤💛💚🤙. I was busy yesterday as this video came on, a miracle as my lifelong Hawaiian bredder was helping me move while testifying how Jesus changed his life. Kept me positive as i humbled my racist neighbors, laughing as i moved to my peaceful new home. 😅This video was an answer to my prayers, we all needed to hear this one especially at that right time. Meeting the rockers uptown 😅, that was always my favorite but i didn't know was everyone else's too lol. Tubby was DUB.i have all his lp... when a.pablo & tubby got together the sound was out of this world.... there will never be a sound like that again.., when it thunder's in the sky I say tubby is having a DUB version of all DUBs....

King tubby was a gift to reggae from jah god, bliss him for the dubs we play today and always.

Carly played drums. Despite popular belief i dont think tubbs mixed much of that lp..think it was mostly philip smart..pablos friend who he introduced to tubbs and went on to record most of pablos work round tubbys studio. Tubby didnt spend much time in studio after setting it up and mixing early dubs for glen brown, yabby you, rupie edwards etc..he concentrated more profitable buisness of building amplifiers. Often on releases it says king tubby(s) which means the studio not king tubby himself. Pat kelly and phillip smart mixed a lot of dubs in mid 70s often credited to tubbs. Nice to see tubbs getting recognition he deserves even if its taken 40 years and the recent popularity of reggae outside of jamaican culture
