Oh god. I knew the update was today, but I didn’t know that so many things had changed

Still waiting for basic mode to come back it allowed new players to have fun with the game without having to know everything about the game in the first ship they make as soon as they get it. All the complicated stuff can be overwhelming and new players will give up

Did the gearbox setup change? I had to go by the little adage of, "Gearboxes push BACK (torque) and go FORWARD (RPS)". If it has changed, good to know. That being addressed, this is a great video. I've done things in advanced for most of the time I've played the game and I find this to be a great intro tutorial for any who have been playing on easy building mode and have been left out in the proverbial cold with this new update. My suggestion to any in this category is subscribe to this channel and watch his tutorials. I've learned the majority of the basics of advanced building from him and he's been by go to for information on the game. You can trust him and StormRunner Gaming, as they both have created a large part of their channels based on this game. They've learned a lot and are going out of their way to teach it. Keep up the great work, NJersey.

@@InventoryOsu yea, once you learn it becomes pretty easy to make engines, sometimes it might just take some trial and error.

Same just got the game its so my type if game but the learning is cool at least because of the cool stuff that comes with it for learning without any classes

Imagine a system so overly complicated right after the tuto mission when you don't have a boat .. it's like nearly impossible for beginner to get that right :'D

At the very beginning, I'm glad you went on to explain what engines do - I''ve spent all these years wondering what that blg lump under the bonnet of my car actually does?? ;) :D

I was hoping this would be about the modular engines. I made one that worked using one crankshaft and one that didn't using 4. For the life of me I can't figure out why one starts and the other doesn't. If you could do a video on the modulars it would be helpful. I'm clearly missing something with how the manifolds work.

This tutorial is very helpful but i have a question - you set the gearbox to a ratio of 3 - 1, but didn't explain why or what that does.

3:1 means that the engine will need to rotate 3 times to rotate the propeller once. This helps in increasing the propeller torque but at the cost of reduced speed.

Why is my engine not working, everytime I turn it on, it works, but the problem is that the rps starts going down like 10 seconds after use and its really annoying because I just got the game and I can’t figure anything out

Would Diesel submarines need to have air tanks then? Can it be compressed?

Something I've noticed is there doesn't seem to be any comprehensive tutorials on making missions since the 1.0 update.

why do you use a fluid port over an air intake (scoop)?

My exhaust never has smoke coming out of it I once had a little bit come out of one because my ship was flooded with water and sinking but only on of the 3 why is there no smoke is there a way to have smoke all the time?

The title should have been *how to connect engines in stormworks* I literally was looking for a video just like this but could not find one until I found this video by searching diesel engines in stormworks.

Can someone help me i was make an engine with 20 RPS with avarage temprature is 60° but my enggine always loosing power after about a few minute runing, the RPS is drop to barely reach 5 RPS, whats wrong? I have try different set up but it keep happening.

Just switch to something smaller, for example the block. Or delete the item from your hotbar by dragging it up with the mouse

They do, but not as well as in open air. They work by averaging temperature, so if air temp is high, cooling ability is low and if it heats up air by cooling engine, it cools engine less and less and engine gets hotter and hotter.

My engine won’t start. It just makes noises. Any way to fix this

There are. My first boat in Stormworks was electric. It was extremely tiny though so the range was only 12km lol

Wait this tutuorial is utdated i think pipes and the radiatir dont spawn with water you have to give it a small fluid tank for water

Nope, you get more rpm so you get more torque. Just think about an offroad gearbox it has low and high range, in low range you get higher rpm and more torque

@@ds_lyst05 Unless this has changed with the 1.0 release, that's not how this game works. You get one or the other, not both. Sure IRL offroad transmissions can do that, but Stormworks has you either have higher wheel/propeller RPS with lowered torque to it or higher torque to it and lower RPS. This is inverse for the engine. When the wheels/props has higher RPS, it in turn gets higher torque but lowered RPS, when the output torque is cranked up it apparently siphons it out of the engine and the engine's RPS shoots up. As far as I know, there's no gear combination in the game that raises both torque and RPS higher than 1:1 at the same time . If there was, then the game would be really broken as then you'd be able to produce more energy from less than started (breaking the law of conservation of energy.) It's weird, but it ends up balancing out in the end.

I might be wrong but I thought it works in a way that if you select the one with higher rpm you get more torque but less speed and with the other one more speed but less torque, and I felt like this was the case

I exsist like when you shift down in gear you lower your output rpm so you get more torque. But I meant that jersey flipped the way you mount the gearbox to get more rps

Make sure you’re on the camera system you’re trying to use (camera button on the right of the editor GUI)

In the logic tab, there are multiple logic connections on the selection on the left, logic, electricity, composite, video audio and rope. to connect electricity, select the lightning bolt and connect it from battery to anything that needs electricity. Power, as in rps or engine power, needs pipe connections.

Rps is more accurate. Rpm is per minute, rps is per second. 1 rps is 1/60th rpm, so to reduce decimal places it is easier to use rps than rpm.

these tutorials are useless and take forever to watch. how do you connect the battery to the starter of the engine? why was that not in this "official tutorial"? video tutorials are so lazy instead of having real tutorial in game. shame on you developers.
