Correction: Brandon said that Arc 2 will be more disjointed from Arc 1 than Well of Ascension to Final Empire, not Mistborn Era 2 from Era 1. That has very different implications.

Thank you for the correction! That is way different but fortunately doesn’t change too many of my predictions. Still think our cast from first leg will be much more mild POV as the new cast comes into play. Still relevant and POV, but much more on the higher level than fighting front lines.

I think he also compared the ending of book 5 / SA part 1 being less like MB 3 (HOA) and more like MB 2 (WOA), I think it won't be as complete or clean of an ending and will leave some things unanswered Or left in a cliffhanger of sorts like MB 2 (WOA). It will be like a mix of the two in structure

@@Haxerous Yes, and he also said that it will have major cosmere implications. SA5 will be a kind of prologue to a new era for the cosmere, which will be concluded by SA10. SA10 will be gargantuan for the cosmere, as will be Mistborn Era 3. Long story short, I'm hyped.

See, to me, Kaladin is the one character who definitely shouldn't die. His whole story has been about dealing with his depression, trying to break himself of his suicidal need to protect everyone all the time. Having him just die protecting people seems counter to his entire story arc so far.

I really like this theory, on account of the fact Brandon hasn't really done anything with Jez's death. Like, Ash and Taln felt it, but that should've been a big storming deal not the "oh look he's dead now moving on" Also, Ishar is definitely going to need to die, because he's a criminal and a bondsmith on the loose. As for the rest of the heralds, only one who I guess doesn't have a counterpart is Kalak? Like, don't get me wrong, I love Venli, but I don't know if the other radiants are just going to accept a singer in their ranks.

I hope Kal doesn't die simply because so much of his story has grown into him needing to fight to find something to live for. The struggles he's going through, death is kind of an easy out and even a heroic sacrifice feels like a bit of a cheap out on that arc. When he took out my boy Teft, the character I had the biggest personal connection to it broke my damn heart. His whole struggle with overcoming addiction being portrayed so realistically, with him backsliding occasionally before eventually getting his shit together even while still struggling with his issues resonated so much with me and my own issues. It was great seeing a character struggling with addiction painted in that kind of light. I'd love to see Moash suffer, but I definitely agree that being stripped of his blade, imprisoned, and having to mentally deal with the repercussions of all he's done minus Odium's filter would be a far more painful fate for himself than dying in the midst of some grand final battle.

I don't agree on your predictions from a storytelling standpoint mostly for the first one it seems like a bad choice to take a character that is characterized by his fight with depression and make the conclusion of his arc be death. I think it would be much better if Kaladin became a sort of mentor figure for the cast of part 2, where his death would have a much deeper effect as this nigh on deific figure that has "beaten" depression. As for Dalinar I don't think he will ascent do become Honor from the simple point of Mistborn era 1 ended with a main character becoming god and having that be the conclusions to both of the first arcs of Sandersons two main series seems kinda repetitive. I have no opinion on Shallan going to Mistborn Era 3, but I'm not caught up on Mistborn rn. Just read Alloy of Law and have no idea what the time jump is between Era 2 and Era 3.

I could be wrong though. If he doesn't become Honor, he will at least become a herald- but my money is on Dalinar doing that: becoming a herald and reforging the oathpact, because he has surges more suited to this. Shallan worldhopping sounds like a good prediction, given her curiosity and interest in scholarship. Worldwise I think the singers become the dominant faction, but Odium is contained on Roshar. I think someone else has to sacrifice themselves for Kaladin and he'll survive. I think it would push him into the ultimate culmination of his arc of keeping going and building self-worth. I think his fifth ideal will be something along the lines of accepting that he himself is worthy of protection. My thoughts are: Kaladin will swear the fifth Ideal just before his "final stand". He will gain the power necessary to fight whatever it is off for long enough however begins to fail. As this happens, Adolin sacrifices himself for Kaladin. At the end, Shallan will become a worldhopper and will have a role offworld that Dalinar will need her to fill. Szeth will be incredible and fight a duel against Nale to become the new herald of justice. Dalinar will win the contest of champions and reform a new and more affective oathpact. A distinctly larger threat will be revealed that they have just over 10 years to prepare for.

Szeth is then bound to the man who held his oathstone who is now Odium. He is Odium's champion. And I think she's already a world hopper potentially? The fact she can jump in and out of dalinars visions etc. I think is alluding to this possibility. I imagine with the development at the end of RoW that spren can be killed that Kal will sacrifice himself to save Syl. The ultimate irony being that him dying will cause her to lose herself.

Not sure, as I said this 9 months ago 😂 but I guess it could be that either: 1. He will be too driven by the instinct to protect to think about the consequences. Or 2. Because he knows that she could eventually bond to another windrunner. Full disclosure, I don’t remember if the second is possible

When you look at the other beings that gained Sliver status, Vin, Kelsier, and Rashek, they all held the power for a relatively brief time. Dalinar connects the 3 realms and acts as a conduit for Honors perpendicularity as a party trick. His soul must be the most invested of any non-shard in the cosmere at this stage. My guess is Rayse knew this at the time of the Contract, which is why he basically gave up the rest of Roshar to gain Dalinar's soul.

It's so hard to make predictions for this series, while I would love for Kaladin to live and I think it would be very weird from a writing perspective to kill him after his arc but not only were there like three to four new antagonist forces added at the end of Rythm of War but it is DEEPLY connected to the greater story in the Cosmere SO ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN it's crazy the amount of possibilities.

My biggest theories are that Dalinar will find a way to reform the Shard of Honor from the splinters and ascend in the end, and that Szeth will sacrifice himself to save the Radiants or maybe the Kholin family. It just seems so poetic to me that he would finally earn his peace from the voices that have been plaguing him by saving those he cares about or has sworn to protect, cementing his character arc going from reluctant villain to martyred hero.

I noticed you don't predict any Spren deaths. RoW introduced 2 different ways Spren can now be killed. There is a possibility (maybe not a huge one) of Pattern dying, and Shallan and Adolin work together in the second half to discover how to re-bond deadeyes

  • @mobius4247

Then she'd have 2 dead spren which doesn't make any sense. She already has the motivation to fix deadeyes. I don't want Adolin to just fix Maya and become an Edgedancer, that's too simple.

@@mobius4247 Prior to RoW, spren could become deadeyes, which they considered to be equivalent to death, but not actually die. But now post RoW, spren can *actually* die, as in cease to exist. If that happened to Pattern, Shallan could potentially revive and rebond Testament, but Pattern would just be gone.

Two most badass moments in stormlight archive and I think we can all agree on this (Spoilers duh) Number 1: When Dalinar rammed his shard blade in the stone in way of kings finale and offered it to Sadess Number 2: When navani said, “Life before death you bastard,” to Moash...My God was that satisfying!!

I feel like the other possible ending for Dalinar than dying that's even more messed up is that he loses the contest of champions and has to become Odium's immortal slave. And then he's a villain in the second half of the Stormlight archive or even in other Cosmere books.

Thank you for blessing us with a Cosmere video Mr. Goblin. So I really don’t think Kaladin is going to die, and honestly I don’t want him to. Kaladin has been ready to die for people for the past 2ish books, what he’s struggled with is the living part. I think it’s more likely we see him take up the shard of Honor, or otherwise be in a position where he is helping people, but is mostly removed from the conflict of Arc 2. I see your point though, and if you are right I’m sure this book will absolutely WRECK me. I also think you’re spot on about Shallan learning all about Cosmere stuff. Ik Sanderson has said Mistborn Era 4 (the space one) will have Hoid as a POV, and I feel like it’d make sense if Shallan kind of ends up as his partner/assistant since they already have a friendship. I’m pretty sure as opposed to introducing new characters, Brandon will be expanding on side characters we haven’t seen too much of, like Szeth, Lift, Renarin, and Jasnah. That’s my guess, and my hope, because I desperately want more of those four. Although, I think in the afterward of Edgedancer he mentioned Lift having a bigger role later. Dalinar’s dead fo sho. I really do hope you’re right that we get a whole five books with Taravangian behind the wheel of the baddies. That’ll be VERY exciting. But no matter what happens, I’m sure I’ll love it.
