Little detail I loved is how the closer you get to the Reichstag building, the more the German soldiers changed, from your usual hopeless Wehrmacht troops in their grey uniforms and standard weapons like the kar98k and mp-40's, to the black uniforms, fanatic SS honor guard, bloodied and covered in bandages, sporting "advanced" weaponry like the Gewehr 44, flammenwurfer and STG-44. Hell even their German voice lines are different, from the standard "suppressive fire", "medic", "take cover", to "suffer communist pigs" "for the glory of germany", "for the Führer", "Give your lives to the reich". Really envelopes you as to what similarilly the russians faced when storming the reichstag, only thing missing are fanatic French SS volunteers as they were the main defenders inside the reichstag by May 1st.

I did notice that by the time you got to the front steps, there were a lot more black clad shoulders with armbands, and I took a lot of pleasure in targeting them, but I never noticed the voice lines.

It’s all fun and games until you play this mission in a veteran mode

I think the starting part for Blowtorch and Corkscrew was the hardest. You’re fighting out at night, in the rain, tall grass for ‘cover’, and getting ambushed by spider holes. Add banzai charges with grenade spam and you’ll be in for a really good time. 😅

San Lorenzo blowtorch and corkscrew on veteran is no fucking joke. Took me like 3 hours to complete it, probably more if I’m being honest.

Definitely needs a remastered version. Best campaign. The veteran mode was hard as fuck. Absolutely incredible 😂👍🏻.

I completed Heart of the Reich last night on veteran. Jesus Christ, the amount of cheap deaths from grenade spam was infuriating. I had to take a break and calm down before completing it.

When you go further into the heart of reischtag, you see there's a ss soldier, and even a wounded soldier fighting to their last breath, that was a nice detail

Yes i may hate Nazis, but they shouldnt remove their hate symbols just cause people dont like them. Yes the Nazis were evil, but its history, so u shouldnt supress it for the horrible things they did. Makes me sick. Just like the Confederate statues in the southern US states and the communist and socialist monuments and statues in the post Eastern Bloc nations being taken down.

Amazing how times change so quickly. In this game there are swastikas all over the Reichstag, and now games won't even touch that symbol with a 10 foot pole, even if its historically accurate.

Best COD ever. The level of details and attention to level design is beyond greatness.

This is a beautiful segment of missions and I enjoy them, but the reality is that the real Battle for the Reichstag lasted nearly four days.

Legend says that every breath for a German soldier is a million nades.

I didnt realize the significance of this level until much later. It wasnt until I saw footage of the red army planting the flag as a symbol of Nazi defeat, that I made the connection to why this level was the final mission in the game.

The seat of power was the Reich Chancellory at the time, not the Reichstag, by the way. Wrong building for the flag raising.

@@BenKlassen1 The Soviets doesn't knew that the Reich Chancellery was the seat of Nazi power, they didn't even knew the existence of the Fuhrer bunker until the end of the war. The reason why they choose the Reichstag is because when its was caught on fire in 1933 it became an excuse to the Nazi party to rise in power and subjugate its political enemies, now by 1945 for the Soviets its capture is also a symbol of Nazi's defeat in war.

I love how they recycled the sound-bites for Ze Germans from CoD 2, like when they shout ."Kommunisten!!"

Jesus Christ. The waves of nostalgia are flushing my brain. I remember playing this mission all the time on local multiplayer with my friend Alfredo in his home. We played on his PS3. I still remember the moments when i kept shooting the legs of the Nazi's with the sniper on top of the building. Damn 2015 was a good year

The beginning of both missions are so wonderful. #1. "What do you think will bring us home? Writing about this war, or fighting it!" #2. "Steel yourselves, comrades! As heroes we will return to Russias embrace. To our people, our land, our blood..." Also cant talk about the magnificence of WaWs campaign without mentioning the amazing OST. Red Army theme, Hells Gate, Black Cats, Their land their blood. All exceptional OSTs.

Hey! I’m playing through again but for whatever reason, when I got to enter the Reichstag, I can’t. The pillar never falls and I can’t find reznov.

I have PTSD from finishing this level in veteran mode. You had to play it enough until you knew where all the enemies were coming from and exactly where to run to.

I love the details in this. The fanatic SS in the heart of the Reich, the hopeless volkstrumpf, the cruel reality of what happened in Berlin streets. So much blood. As a German, even I love the historical content in this. Now we have Nicki Minaj ass and fucking Messi in COD.

Ya know what? I *REALLY* wish they made a zombies map of the reichstag . . . Or is that Kino? Either way it would be interesting to see the tables suddenly and drastically turn against the Soviets as they run in terror and fall in droves as they face the result of some stray element 115, and Berlin would be an absolutely terrifying location with how destroyed it was, and I bet there’d be some Soviet zombies too? Idk I’m probably rambling at this point, atmospherically and ascetically it would’ve been a good idea for a WAW zombies map, I mean it wouldn’t even have to be the ultimus crew either, it could be like Verrckt where it’s just four Soviet soldiers trying to survive for as long as possible, eventually and inevitably getting overrun. It just sucks they didn’t think of that though.

The actual golden eagle was not in the reichstag but in the operakroll which was uses as a parliament building after reichstag fire in 1933.
