Ennis has stated that everyone in Payback was directly inspired by an Avenger. ADDITIONALLY, and MOST IMPORTANTLY. There is already a Shazam in The Boys universe. Amazon's The Boys version of Stormfront had a great line that paraphrased was *"People like what I have to say. They just don't like the word Nazi"* I think it was a very intelligent and provocative take on what the comic and franchise as a whole can represent: complicated individuals who are too powerful for common ideas.

To me the characters of Stormfront and Homelander are equally bad, regardless of Stormfront's personal motivations. The victims' whose head might be crushed by either of these two is not going to be like, "It's OK if Homelander does it, 'cause he's not racist."

Its funny cause Nazi Germany was a part of the Axis powers alongside Japan and Italy. Hitler himself declared the Japanese "Honorary Aryans", so unless Stormfront had a different form of nazism, her handling of Kimiko and her brother went against Hitler's own words and philosophy.

LOL Their not doing to "keep the hype going," there is a global pandemic going on. They were unable to finish filming and post-production on time... so in order to not delay the series for months on end they are releasing them on a weekly schedule. This allows them to complete episodes as they go. The same thing happens with CW shows like The Flash and Arrow to account for their 24 episode seasons.

This is the first time where i found the show more interesting than the comics. First they expanded on the deep. Now they drastically changed this character.

I nearly pissed myself laughing when I read the comics and found out queen maeve cheated on storefront with a black dude and had that guy's baby. The picture of it had me rolling lol

Stormfront’s death in the comic is one of my favorite deaths... the US, UK, Russia & France stomps his Nazi face in. Also Stormfront to me is Shazam no Thor.

Yeah the only supes to ever really put up a good fight are the extremely overpowered ones like Homelander and Stormfront. But that’s strictly because of their overwhelming power not their fighting skills in which is why the other supes typically lose because they just don’t know how to fight lol

Yeah, it's pretty obvious that the writer of the comics have a thing against heroes. Not only making most of them either stupid and/or psychotic, but they are also so trash in fighting, that a random bunch of dudes with crowbars can utterly humiliate them with just a small dosage of the very thing they were implanted with since birth. Honestly like how they are doing it in the show more. Although a finale with The Boys using powers could be neat.

@ActionGenesis Well, more than simply having human flaws, the heroes were often portrayed either as starry eyed idiots or malicious psychopaths... Both of which were utterly tortured, blackmailed and completely fucked up by the gritty and edgy Boys. It honestly could get pretty hilarious, and there were moments where certain characters were fairly likeable and stuff... But the way the heroes were treated, could feel very mean spirited at times. Like they werent just deconstructed, they were being ridiculed and hated on.

I usually hate gender swaps in tv show adaptations. Mostly because it’s done for no reason other than “diversity” and ends up ruining the character. This however I believe was a genuinely good change. It actually makes for a better character.

I definitely prefer the new version in the show. She fulfills the Homelander “worst nightmare” while also embodying fascism today, that hate is easier to weaponize and still also maintain an acceptable public face.

I can't believe nobody mentioned Stormfront the name as in the famous Stormfront forum. Fits the character like a glove.

Every character in the comics "extremely durable, super strength, speed, and agility" Well damn...

It's interesting how we as humans accept universal hatred way before ideological-based selective hatred. The introduction of Stormfront adds multiple layers of 'villainy' to the show, where now -- comparatively -- Homelander is not the most evil. Even further than this, if he actively tries to kill Stormfront (either alone or with the Boys' help) we might view him in heroic terms temporarily. So this show now deals with corporate evil (Stilwell and several elements of Vought), egotistical evil (Homelander), ideological evil (Stormfront, the 'true' Vought and perhaps Mr.Edgar), and even a Machiavellianism evil with Butcher (though this is only hinted at in the show so far, it's far more obvious in the comics).

Then she threw the other black man out the window (in cold blood) and then exploded the entire building... Writing in shows usually has intention. That was most likely subliminal build up that led to the racial slur on the roof being the stamp of approval (that she is a cold blooded racist murderer)... The framing happens regardless to cover up vaughts tracks.

@@hbassey Actually, Storm is planning to kill Homelander cause only Homelander can defy her. One weakness of homelander is his pride and lazyness so they will have and epic battle where Storm uses her powers to win the tides but who knows who will win in the end of the show.

@@grimdolo918 Hadn't thought of that, but I can actually see that. Kimiko will want to take the deal to avenge her brother. Butcher will be against working with Homelander for any reason. That drives a wedge between the Boys, and anyone familiar with the comics knows how that turns out

I really hope that love sausage makes it into the show, he is one hell of a character.

Lol when I first heard they had a character called “Stormfront”, I was like “uhhhhhhh do they know what that name means????” But of course it was all part of the plan 😂

Dukenukem I first learned of it 10 years ago when I was working on a design project, and googling for stock imagery of “stormfronts”, but wound up on their very disturbing website 😂😂

I prefer this version, cause at least they don’t try to make you sympathise for the character!

One thing I love about the supes in The Boys is that the ones everyone fears aren't as tough as they would like you to think, just like real life bullies.

I love the Deep as a well written character. Born with twisted value due to his upbringing and family add to it a semi-biased concept of himself. Grown into a man child with insecurity trying his best to cover it by doing his worst behind closed door. Caught. Went into depression and now not thinking of redeeming himself but just following a set of value the next big influence on his life came up with. The base of the character remaining this static despite it all is a very interesting way of development. "Mommy told me it was a gift." "They want me back into the Seven now!" asking himself if he is worthy of going back in instead of considering the fact that the company he's working with is the one that made him go through all this shit from birth to his fall. As a person, the Deep is a sexier bojack without the brain to keep up so trash.

I've only just watched S1 and the first three episodes of S2 this last week and love the show. I've never seen the comics before. You said that Maeve is very different in the show and you don't see a relationship between Storm Front and Maeve. However, with the antagonism between Homelander and SF and HL's jealousy of any of Maeve's partners, I can see Maeve and SF hooking up just to piss off HL and wrench up the tension.

Won't lie. The thought has crossed my mind more than once, especially seeing how the Dark Phoenix saga was sort of an allegory for rape. Who knows what horrible stuff Xavier has done with his powers? After all, couldn't he just make you forget? On a side note, the X-Mansion was never a safe place for children in any way. How many times has that place been destroyed?!😂

@GreyJedi 2001 You do realize that not only is Marvel's adaption very different from the source material but that Shazam is based on Greek mythology which is dated to be older than Norse right? Your argument is the same is saying the Iron Man films came out before Spawn because the character is older.

Normally I don't like radical changes to a character unless it makes them better, stormfront is a good example, if stormfront was a guy it would just be homelander again with slight changes, I like the evil girl and evil guy, makes it more interesting

I would say Storm front is more like Shazam or Black lightning than Thor, especially since there's already a Thor like character in the boys.

I haven't read the comics but I'm pretty sure there should be a poison able to kill any supe. A modified compound v. If not kill, remove their power/weakening them.

Actor who played Homelander was perfect,for that character.

This was a gender swap that worked really well actually.

I am calling it. Stormfront will probably be killed with the help of Annie. Stormfront has electric powers -> Annie drains electricity and Kimi finishes her off.

I'mma argue she ain't portrayed as strong in the show - the strong types aren't the super voicy ones. Strong types acts. Not just incites civilians to act on her behalf. Maybe this will change tho.

It seems like in the comics, he's like an evil Shazam with the lightning powers. And the idea that he is almost as powerful as Homelander.
