    Superb video guys... Rear Diff lock(MLD) in the thar made all the difference. Fortuner passed through due to better articulation and GC from Ironman setup. Would love to test the new Fortuners electronic 4*4 system in such conditions, ideally it should transfer the torque to the wheels with traction by applying brakes to the slipping ones.

    i am considering buying an isuzu dmax vcross, I'll be using it mostly for outstation trips and some off roading as well. do you think the absence of lockable diff will cause problems as evident from most of your videos where the dmax gets stuck easily? (I won't plough a farm with it for sure).

  • @Anshyuman

    @Anshyuman

    7 жыл бұрын

    Depends on how extreme your offroading will be, long wheelbase and long rear overhang apart, it is good even without locking rear diff. Even if you decide to get a rear lock diff later on, you can buy it from aftermarket, Airlocker or E locker, your choice.

    1. Sourabh is clearly in learning mode. :) 2. After the Storme beached and was pulled and pushed, the crest of the pit reduced just enough, should have been measured pro actively IMO. 3. The Endy and the Storme have longer wheelbases and hence had a tough time compared to the Thar. The Isuzu was too fast but momentum helped it a lot. The Thar is also lighter and has greater articulation along with a shorter wheelbase.

  • @Anshyuman

    @Anshyuman

    7 жыл бұрын

    +Devdath N We did a separate test here, LSD vs MLD vs Open diffs, Ill post a separate video on that later, LSD is only good on paper. Everything else than Thar and Fortuner crossed because of momentum. Storme and Endy were getting stuck because of lack of momentum. Not only Sourabh, all of us are in learning mode.

  • @devdathn

    @devdathn

    The Fortuner didnt have too much of it as well. It was able to pull through due to better articulation, ground clearance and lower gearing.

  • @Anshyuman

    @Anshyuman

    Only because of better suspension, Fortuner has no gearing advantage, low range gearing is identical to Thar.

    Anshuma/ Rohit : how did all time 4wd works in fortuner, does it runs on rear wheels on flat tar roads and whenever required it transfer power to front wheels like an AWD vehicle or it continuously supply power to all wheels..plz brief me about this

  • @Anshyuman

    @Anshyuman

    7 жыл бұрын

    Ill post a video on this soon, to show how does the full time 4wd in unlocked mode behaves in rough, how power is transferred and all. Stay tuned!

  • @rohitdhanda2061

    @rohitdhanda2061

    7 жыл бұрын

    manish singh full time 4WD keeps 40:60 split with centre diff unlocked with some amount of slip which is required to drive in full time 4WD without damaging the drive train... once you lock the centre diff then the power split becomes 50:50 front and rear. Open diffs front and rear in Fortuner means effectively it is not a true 4x4 and behaves like a 4x2 IF one of the tires EACH on front and back diffs lose their grip.

  • @rohitdhanda2061

    @rohitdhanda2061

    7 жыл бұрын

    manish singh also, Fulltime 4WD Fortuner never runs on rear wheel even on tar roads, the power goes to all 4 wheels in 40:60 split, hence the balance and control of the vehicle is better than RWD SUVs, and this is further enhanced by upgraded suspension in my car.

    It was a cake walk for Mahindra Thar due to power-weight ratio, Isuzu as expected the bull, and the reason why Toyota Fortuner made it is because of the off-road spec tyres which none other had. Without the right tyre, even the most powerful SUVs will struggle.

  • @Anshyuman

    @Anshyuman

    6 жыл бұрын

    I disagree with your analysis, Thar does not have best power to weight ratio, Fortuner has A/T tyres just some other cars in this video. This is not about best tyres either, its about articulation or locking type differentials.

    Sir, I have a silly doubt that a diff. lock basically provides traction to the wheel stuck in mud or sand and a rear diff. lock is preferred more than a front diff lock when one has to turn at the same time . So basically why does one need it on trails like sandakphu . Is there a possibility of the vehicle losing traction on such rocky terrain ?

  • @Anshyuman

    @Anshyuman

    7 жыл бұрын

    I don't think rear diff lock is a requirement for Sandakhphu, you just need short gearing and 4x4.

  • @vivekarora4134

    Duster does not have low range gearing reduction, that's why it requires good control over clutch and momentum or else it will struggle.
