I really hope you guys keep doing these videos! Don't get me wrong, I love The Chieftain, but it's nice to have someone else doing these hands on tank tours.
Excellent lecturer, very easy to understand what he says and means and very interesting lecture of this Swedish WW2 tank. Must search after more of this!!!!! More of this and more thumbs UP from me!!!!! Great!!!!!
cannot believe how much space is inside after sticking a 75 in a 9 ton tank. Tardis terrific. all vehicles were retrofitted with 105 mm guns in 1946.
From a purely aesthetic perspective I love the proportions of this vehicle so much, it's very fantastic
want to congratulate the folks who restored and prepared this vehicle for display, and the people taking care of it today It looks like it just rolled out of the factory :) And thank you very much for showing us a vehicle we might not get to see outside of old pictures and maybe a scale model or two.
Superbly restored machine. Fascinating history. Would love to know more about the armament. That's a pretty serious looking gun!
so many interesting machines I've never seen before. Thanks for these awesome video's!!!
Very interesting info generally not available in USA. Greatly appreciate you doing this in English for us!
Tack. Intressant som vanligt.
Extremely interesting vehicle! Maybe it would be an idea to have a follow-up video that includes more detailed specs about the gun, the armour and the engine. It would also be highly interesting to see how this vehicle did in the field. Does any footage of it exist?
Learning more about Swedish tanks thanks great videos
Thank You. Another excellent Video, & Love the Flag Pole Story!
Nice. You cover all the interesting details. For my next vacation, I will visit Strängnäs.
Available as a model in various scales from Shapeways (as well as the strv m/41). www.shapeways.com/marketplace?type=product&q=Stormartillerivagn+%28Sav%29+m%2F43
Stunning restauration job! It would have been very interesting how they managed to build this vehicle only with the chassis standing.
Ah so that is how you pronounce vagn! Thanks for the video

I play WOT and I've had one of these for about a year now. But, WOT designates it as a tank destroyer. It wasn't until recently that I learned the best way to play it and now it's a real killer. Same tier as the Hetzer and just as deadly, but a bit more pen and armor!
Fun fact: the same chassis with different gun was used in the final battle scene of Saving Private Ryan.

All of them are in running condition, since the vehicles in the building are in fact the entire AFV fleet of the Swedish army. We just keep them in Strängnäs over summer, when the armed forces take their vacation. B)

In the shot at 9:45, I wish the camera wasn't so close. Which side of the vehicle is he on? Where is the turret. This shot is too close and I actually have no idea where he is on the Tank.
@jcadult101
4 жыл бұрын
I agree it would have been nice to see the position, perhaps opening the roof. No turret, not a tank, but rather a self propelled gun; roughly same layout. What you see there to his right, is the lifted roof which the model below shows the raised roof at the front of the opening, including the handle and pads. So he is in the loader's position behind the driver on the rights side of the vehicle. plasticwarfare.se/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/DSC_0495_cc-600x408.jpg As he mentions, the gunner is down and to the left while the commander's periscope is behind the gunner. Other clues, look outside the SPG 9:33 you can see the horizontal florescent lights on the building wall which are to the front (seen in earlier footage), while over his left shoulder is the open second story, putting him on the right side of the vehicle.
Ser man Stefan om man åker till arsenalen eller?
Very interested to see the little known (here anyways) Swedish armour. I heard the Czech 38T tanks had bad problems with spall. I guess the steel was brittle. It would have been nasty.

Good video, but if I had to make a suggestion, it would be to run the audio through an EQ to pull out some of the lower mids and increase the highs a bit. Stefan has a pretty deep voice and the recording gets a little bit muffled as a result.

Actually Germany had planed an invasion in Sweden, based on information from the German planes flying over from Norway, but "sadly" this was avoided by the happenings around Stalingrad - and a very fine and funny film was lately made about a German Junckers plane landing in Sweden, during those flights!

If you are the kind of person who comments: " it's a shame we never got to see how it would have performed in real combat" -Then yes. Most swedish-born Swedes have never experienced war, and I dare to say, we are very thankful for that. This is a history lesson that teaches you that war can be avoided, but it can't be ignored.
So you spend 12 minutes talking about assault gun vehicle, and you talk 2 minutes about flag that is painted on it,but you don't talk about the actual gun/cannon it carries!?
