The center of bridge between the fingers is the true PSA on symms. A system I use for two handers is to measure the distance from center of bridge to the PAP, then measure the angle subtended by that bridge-to-PAP line, and the vertical grip line. So the PAP coordinate recorded on the drillsheet in this example would be something like 5.625" x 75 degrees up. The layout procedure for 5.625x75 is as follows: (1) Draw a line from the pin through CG, (or use an offset from the CG to control the position of the labels.) This will be the true zone of asymmetry after drilling the ball. Mark the desired distance from the pin to the PSA(bridge) on this line. 6.75" is the lowest RG position with max hook, less than 3.375" is high RG/control. (2) Swing an arc from the marked PSA @ 5.625" (PAP distance coordinate) (3) Swing an arc from the pin @ 4.5", intersecting the previous arc. This is the PAP. (4) Draw a line from the PAP to the marked PSA. (5) Placed the prosect "0" on the ruler on the PSA, and the spine on the PSA to PAP line. Mark the ball at 75 degrees on the right side of the scale. ("up" PAP angle coordinate) (6) Draw the vertical grip line from the PSA through the 75 degree mark. (7) draw the midline through the PSA, perpendicular to the vertical grip line. Drill one or both fingers 2.75" deep to create a stronger PSA. I tend to use shorter pins (3.5-4.25) with longer pin-PSA values, and longer pins (4.5-5.5) for high RG control positions. This is far more complicated to explain than it is to actually do.

Hey Byron, I'm very curious to explore your layout method, when I get home tonight I'll grab my prosect and run some measurements. However my concern is it appears you may have made a mistake about the PSA location for 2 handers, as it is most definitely not the center of the bridge. The center of the bridge for 2 handers is the "Center of Grip". The PSA for no thumb bowlers will typically(roughly) be on a line from the pin "through" the center of the bridge, about 6 inches away. @@KennyGrinols the finger holes will affect the rg value of the pin, but you technically correct that the strongest psa will be 90 degrees from the x-axis.

Can you suggest a layout for urethane ball? Also, where did you get the white marker pen you used? The tip of the pencils I have is constantly breaking from the inside.

Hey Mustafa, for your first question about a layout for Urethane, it actually depends on which ball you're going with. Because Urethane has become so much more popular the past few years, companies have been making different variations of them. So the Black Widow Pink Urethane and the Zen U for example, are really strong cored Urethanes. Whereas the Purple Hammer and Pitch Black are very weak cored Urethanes. I believe this matters because when it comes to urethane, you really have to focus on obtaining enough separation of flare lines, to prevent massive amounts of carry down. On some of the weaker/older urethane balls, people tend to favor very strong layouts, to ensure they have enough flare. With the more modern Urethane balls, will massive differentials, you don't have to be as aggressive. The pencils, I get from a local proshop. They usually just give them away if you ask for one, or try to purchase one. If that's not an option for you, try this link here: innovativebowling.com/Marking-Pencils-10-pack-Yellow-or-White_p_246.html you can get a pack of 10 for $8. I have my fair share of broken tips, just keep a sharpener handy, the wax is just so brittle, there isn't really a way around it. You can also go to an art supply store or hardware store and buy a cheap 'grease pencil' I've done that in the past as well, and those are more durable and worked pretty well, but were harder to keep sharp in my experience.

@@KennyGrinols I have the rotogrip grenade urethane ball in my hand, I played with the old technology and with one hand, now I switched to double-handed with it. I couldn't decide how to drill. I drilled my other balls according to the 2ls system, the symmetrical ones 5*4*4 asym ones 4*4*4. I also made some different drills. I was undecided in urethane. I didn't know if I should do 4*5*5 or 5*4*4 as I drilled the symmetricals. If there is a layout you can suggest, please tell me, I would be grateful.

@@KennyGrinols Thank you very much. i have one more question actually i have two :) brunswick csystem 2.5 ball. I want to make a short pin drill. Is 2*6*5 more suitable or can I apply this 5 1/2*5*2 drill , on a symmetrical ball? would it be an unnecessary move? actually i intend to make a kind of arsenal for this purpose. i am trying to apply different layouts to the balls.. if you want i can send my ball list too.

@@AaBaTaStudio the up and down is based on your axis point. When you lay out a ball, all you're really doing is positioning the pin and MB a specific distance, and angle, away from the spot you release the ball.
