    It's a shame you had to "fix" the original video. I'm sad that some people are so thin skinned and take things the wrong way, ways that im sure you didn't intend. Sadly you can't make everyone happy all the time but im glad you are still pushing forward. Keep up the great videos. I appreciate all you do with having so much going on with life and family while still finding time to make great videos for all of us.

    I think your pantry with the swinging shelve is genius! Deep shelves become a cluttered mess in no time and food goes there to die. You may lose a little storage in quantity, but for usefulness, it can’t be beat it seems.

  • @crus5112
    @crus51127 ай бұрын

    The downfall of making deeper shelves is things get forgotten. Things tend to go out of date because you can't see all that you have. That in kitchen pantry will work just fine, contain some of the things in bags and it looks like all things are visible and orderly. Work with what you have and besides that pantry is unique and has great character ❤

    Loved this tour! We finished our 3rd year of gardening/canning this year and somehow managed to grow 1,400lbs of food! We're doing the 3 Rivers pantry challenge this month and December. We've only spent $180 for this whole month including buying 2 turkeys to can. I'm surprised how much food is STILL in the house, so we may continue the challenge even after December!

    I make canned carrots but I always make a brown sugar/butter with SPG. I let that cook and thicken up and then I put the canned carrots in and let them get glazed. Super yummy. I don’t mess with them a lot because they are softer than store bought canned carrots or roasted ones. They are still yummy though.

    Peel and core apples, slice or chunk them into at least 1/2 inch thick pieces. Place the apples in a lemon juice bath (3 tablespoons lemon juice per quart of water). Drain apples, pack in jars (pint or quart), press them down to fit as many as possible. Leave a 1/2 inch head space. Start with a cool water bath canner. You will need to place something heavy on top of the jars as they want to float (I used another canner rack and a large rock). Process 20 minutes and let pot cool completely (if possible, but I just let it cool for 5 minutes) before removing jars.

    I made bread and butter pickles for the first time this year. LOVE THEM! Taste delicious on hamburgers. An idea to use up your carrots. Many times, I can up mirepoix - carrots, onions and celery together. It's the base for many soups. You can use those carrots when you make a soup. As soon as you said spider I thought, time to get someone to kill it, unless it was a small one lol. It looks like you are well stocked. Such a blessing. I'm working on figuring out ways to use some of the things I haven't used a lot of. You have given me some ideas, so thank you.

    @@seedandsparrowhomestead I like them in tea mainly for my soul but they are used for respiratory infections, sore throat and as an expectorant when used internally and used for inflammation externally. They are slightly bitter on there own but you would need a lot of them to notice the bitterness. I like them used in tandem with other healing herbs. Every part of the sunflower has healing properties but the leaves are actually the rock stars when it comes to health benefits.

    The spiced peaches... idk if you did this, but i suggest warming up the mixture and ketting the cloves soak into the liquid with the pot lidded but not with heat on continually. Then, before you pack the cans, remove most or all the cloves. It shouldnt be quite as strong or bitter.

    Lovely pantry! A question about your Apple Pie filling - is it the ClearJel you don't love, or the flavor, or texture? About the peach spice: one thing you can do to prevent the spices from overpowering the contents is to only include them while heating up the syrup (say, in a spice ball or a cheesecloth bag/wrap), and making sure they don't end up in the jar. Some spices, especially cloves, allspice, cinnamon, bay, do get bitter over time. Also, never apologize for your kids - they are the reason for anyone doing anything - the next generation is what we are all depending upon.

Gone are the days when mothers yelled out the door into the neighborhood for their kids to get their butt home for supper, bed or that appointment they don’t want to go to. I love the sound of children trying their best to behave during church but just missing that mark…or not trying and totally missing the mark and one of the parents taking them out for a talking. Or the babies doing the hungry crying and the momma taking them out for their feeding. Such precious days are gone in a flash.
