Storage Shed Floor Build by DIY newbies - Part 1 How to Build Storage Shed Floor

In this video, we show you how we frame and built a shed floor for the Arrow Lexington 10x14 storage shed, purchased from Lowes on sale. This video shows some of the mistakes and challenges we encountered as newbies on this DIY build.
This is part 1 of a 2 part video project and focuses focuses on the wooden shed floor build which will serve as the base for the storage shed. Part 2 shows the DIY storage shed build completion. You can see Part 2 here: • Storage Shed Build by ...
We are not professionals, just your average couple taking on a DIY project. If anyone is interested on how to build a shed, we hope to help them learn from our mistakes and make it easier.
Total time for the entire storage shed project to be complete was approximately 26 hours. This was due to us only working on it a few hours at a time after work on different days and weekends so it can definitely be completed a lot faster. We spent approximately $900 on this DIY build.
Most of the tools we already owned and purchased some of the video accessories from Amazon.
We purchased the following items from Lowes:
Arrow Lexington Series 10 ft x 14 ft Storage Shed Kit
7 in x 11 in x 11 in Concrete Deck Blocks
8 in x 8 in x 16 in Concrete Blocks
2 in x 6 in x 10 ft Treated Lumber
2 in x 6 in x 16 ft Treated Lumber
4 ft x 8 ft OSB Plywood

My box(es) for my shed didn't look nearly as beat up as your box, yet I still found some abnormalities. However, the one thing I decided to do after reading the reviews and looking at the parts that come with the shed, I purchased some Self-Drilling Roofing Screws @ 3/4" with little rubber washers attached to them with 5/16"hex-heads. I've got the foundation about set and about to start building walls tomorrow. Decided to go with the tuff-blocks and 2x6's and plywood. I"M NERVOUS!!!!!

Hmmm remember total newbies here but maybe set the chalk line and aim to right/left of that line according to distance/bowing it had? Or if you cut some smaller 2x4s to go in between the longer joists, that can reinforce the flooring and help you correct the bowing ever so slightly.

TL;DR - DO NOT USE OSB!! Use nothing less then 3/4" pressure treated plywood! and then coat it in something! 3 of these i have built. 1st one with no floor, just a double 2x4 border frame for the shed to sit on. 2nd floor was framed out and covered with OSB, the whole structure sat in level dirt. The 3rd was built elevated off the ground on concrete deck blocks. 10'x12'. double 2x4 border, joists every 12 inches instead of every 18", additional 2x4s in between joists, and a double 2x4 center. used 9 deck blocks: 1 on each corner, one in the middle on each side, one one in the center. then covered the floor frame in 1/2" OSB (cuz covid... and it was literally the only option and it cost $60 a 4x8 sheet!! (should have been $11/each) I'm less then 1 year in with the elevated 10x12 and cant even walk on or use half the floor due to it sagging and totally ruined from moisture. (granted, i knew this would happen due to using 1/2" OSB... I did not anticipate it happening in under a year!) I framed the floor more then what was needed. used more deck blocks then what was needed, but used the same OSB garbage everyone else used. (thinner yes, but same.) And because OSB does not dry or withstand being wet, I now get to lift the shed and replace the OSB with pressure treated plywood. (now that its in stock again and no longer costs my firstborn child and 13 years of servitude.)

You don't have ANY beams or studs in the floor! They are ALL joists. Rim joist on the outside and floor joist on the inside. Studs are are vertical lumber for walls. Beams are horizontal and hold up floors, rafters/trusses. Try to use the correct terminology so the armature DIYer doesn't look like an idiot when they buy lumber.
