Stop Trying to PROVE Yourself

To learn more about living a fulfilling life, and doing work you love, visit me at www.wakeupcloud.com/
Do you feel an urge to prove yourself? To prove that you're good enough?
You're not alone.
I feel like I'm not good enough at times, but I no longer respond to it in the way I used to.
You don't have to prove anything. You are on this planet to be who you are. You are here to do what you love, no matter what anyone says.
And the only way you'll be able to do that is if you stop trying to prove yourself to others. You don't have to live up to anyone's expectations.
You only have to dance your own dance. To live your own life. To live a happy life.

Easter you can be yourself, do what you normally do and don’t impress others! Play some music, drink some beer and watch TV! Don’t worry what others are saying about you!

I've always had this want to prove myself to everyone. That I'm good, I know what I'm doing and that I am very competent. It's very tiring. I'm very very tired. And I think my hardworks aren't getting me anything. I'm still a nobody.

Thank you so much. I’m dealing with anxiety when working and in life in general, and that I always feel the need to prove myself and show that capable. This video helped a lot and gave me strength💕 I feel so much calmer!

Do you constantly try to prove that you're good enough? Do you work too hard, think too much? Do you force yourself to 'work on yourself'? Then you may want to watch this.

Hey Henri I just recently had an experience where I tried to prove myself. It started off with this girl I was interested in telling me that I can come off as judgmental. Being the very self-conscious person I am I take offense to that. The reason I take offense is because I've dealt with many people who made me feel bad about myself, including my dad and grandpa. I was always on the defensive with them. So anyways with this girl I would try to prove myself right in front of her. I would say look Im not judgmental I have lots of friends and people I talk to. I know notice that this came off as if I were rubbing it in her face and showing her that she was wrong. A week later she lost interest and we came to a mutual decision to go separate ways. There was no hard feelings but I did realize I owed her an apology and I'm actually thankful that I discovered this insecurity of mine. I no longer need to prove myself, I just need to be myself.

Very insightful, Taylor. Thanks for sharing that. Another benefit of not trying to prove yourself is that you save so much energy. It's exhausting trying to convince people :)

So much of my habits and things i do every day is for me to get better. Ive become obsessed with being better and improved. I still chase after people. I still look for their opinion. I still try to be perfect. Its so hard to admit when im wrong. The majority of my day and my life is wrapped around proving myself. I got so many bad habits to undo.

Easy (easier said than done, I know) You must go back to find your way forward. Bring out your inner kid. The one who used to laugh and sing and dance! Bring out your curious, playful side! Watch videos on child development and see how alive kids are. How they live in the moment. How they explore how thier bodies interact with the world. Also realize we are a product of our environment. Our culture. Are you a Chinese woman living in China? A man born in Russia but raised in America? We all have identities that help shape our lives and interests. How many different cultures can you enjoy, understand and relate to?

I lived in a big city and have had many experiences in varied aspects of life. I am 29 and now I live in a small town and find when interacting with people and sharing experiences they either don't believe me or think I am trying to impress them. I tried watering down my experiences that just made me depressed. I feel I need to elevate the people I am surrounded by and leave the small town mentality. Any tips?

That is an interesting question. You could perhaps start with exploring why you're doing that. Keep asking why, and write out any and all explanations that pop up. Then write out the pro's and con's of doing what you do. That might be a good start. Explore and see what you find :)

Never stop being better! Don't let this get you down. We can always improve. Why are Grandparents typically better than they were as parents? This is a terrible message.
