As a native speaker (I am an English teacher now which is why I watch this channel for ideas...) As a native speaker who's worked in a call center for 15 years... you'd be surprised by how many grown American native speakers actually say bye bye all the time... especially old people.

Greg's pronunciation is clear, bacause he speaks other foreigen languages. When I heard him speaking for the first time, I decided he is a foreigner, perhaps an Italian. The British usually chew words. Their vocal apparatus are undevelopped.
Very helpful indeed. I wish I would have known all this 50 years ago, especially before my first visit to England. And I am totally jealous to all the young people nowadays, who have all these possibilities to brush up their English. There was nothing like it in the 1970ies, when I was at school. We had the teacher and one book, and that was it. Internet? We didn't even know that word.

It’s a bit like “goodbye, I’ll never see you again!” Similar to “farewell” in that respect. Not used very often, but I guess you’re not often in the situation of saying goodbye to someone forever!! 😀

Thanks for your video...
Very useful lesson, thank you so much!
I'm a native New Yorker an English is my first language. Bye-bye has been my go-to when leaving somebody. In Brooklyn we can say it sarcastically or just meaning see you later. There was a skit on Saturday Night Live where the pilots and flight attendants said bye-bye to everyone deplaning. It was funny and very American. Maybe it's said all around the world now. Aloha

Hi Greg, thanks again. In my country but especially in my region in informal language we can say : A+! or A un de ces quatre! or A la prochaine! or A tout' ! or.Ciao! even: Bye! , and in sustained language we will rather say: Bonsoir Monsieur/ Madame. And according to the situation: À très bientôt et au plaisir de se revoir. For my part I like use both of them.😁😁😁
Hello, Greg! In Romania for Good bye we say- La revedere! Thank you for your videos! They are wonderful!

Yes! See my friend James' website: englisharrow.com/
"Bye bye" is childish, but "TARA", "See you later aligator' , "In a while, crocodile" and "See ya, wouldn't want to be ya" is perfectly fine for adults??! The key is - It depends who you're talking to. I suppose, it would be more of a point for teaching if the stress goes on distinguishing appropriate formal and informal greetings and saying Goodbye. Greg, you've got the right spirit ! And keep pairing up the blue shirts with your eyes :)
Fun! Thx

To my mind the most corresponding Russian expression is "po'ka-po'ka!" or simply "po'ka!" They are very informal but quite polite.
Hello, Greg! Thank you for the lesson! I have a question, how say "bye bye" if you will not see a person long time, mb year or more?
Greg, I am impressed with your blue eyes and your eyelashes, thank you for your lessons, I’ve been learned a lot about advanced English. I am a new student, See you!
You can say "later gator". How about "take care!". It is a way of saying goodbye and be well!

You can basically just say "Goodbye." in general or "See you in x." for a specific time or even just "See you later/around." if the time isn't clear, but you think you'll meet them again in a couple of hours (later) or perhaps some days later (around).
"See you'n the minutes, & Have a good'ne. " wow 👏
Love you video
Great video, thanks a lot! However, I have also come across "cheers" and "take care", these are still used quite often, aren't they?
What about "Clock ya"? When I spent two years in England as a student the first word I learned was "Tara" because people said it constantly.

Hey, Greg, thank you for the video! Could you tell, if I say "tata!" as a synonym of "tara!", would you understand it? How does it look to you? Fun? Weird? Confusing? Dramatically old faction? And why does "cheers" not on the list?

Two days ago I had a conversation with a native speaker of English - surprisingly, it was he who said BYE-BYE at the end!
In German we say: "Aufwiedersehen" (formal) or "Mach's gut", "Tschüss", "Bis bald", "Man sieht sich" (informal)😊
