Greg's pronunciation is clear, bacause he speaks other foreigen languages. When I heard him speaking for the first time, I decided he is a foreigner, perhaps an Italian. The British usually chew words. Their vocal apparatus are undevelopped.

Very helpful indeed. I wish I would have known all this 50 years ago, especially before my first visit to England. And I am totally jealous to all the young people nowadays, who have all these possibilities to brush up their English. There was nothing like it in the 1970ies, when I was at school. We had the teacher and one book, and that was it. Internet? We didn't even know that word.

I'm a native New Yorker an English is my first language. Bye-bye has been my go-to when leaving somebody. In Brooklyn we can say it sarcastically or just meaning see you later. There was a skit on Saturday Night Live where the pilots and flight attendants said bye-bye to everyone deplaning. It was funny and very American. Maybe it's said all around the world now. Aloha

In my country but especially in my region in informal language we can say : A+! or A un de ces quatre! or A la prochaine! or A tout' ! or.Ciao! even: Bye! , and in sustained language we will rather say: Bonsoir Monsieur/ Madame. And according to the situation: À très bientôt et au plaisir de se revoir. For my part I like use both of them.😁😁😁

"Bye bye" is childish, but "TARA", "See you later aligator' , "In a while, crocodile" and "See ya, wouldn't want to be ya" is perfectly fine for adults??! The key is - It depends who you're talking to. I suppose, it would be more of a point for teaching if the stress goes on distinguishing appropriate formal and informal greetings and saying Goodbye. Greg, you've got the right spirit ! And keep pairing up the blue shirts with your eyes :)
