I've been a KZread premium member for a few years and at first it was just to get rid of ads, but KZread Music made it all worth it in my opinion.

Music absolutely & to download music videos to watch at your own leisure but it's the same with KZread, ability to download movies and TV shows at a time convenient especially with crappy wifi where I live.

Agreed. I had the same motive to be a Premium subscriber, but KZread Music is great. I canceled all my other music accounts or subscriptions, even "free" ones.

It was a better deal when it was Google Music. Google Music was a good platform, and they gutted everything that made it good with KZread Music. KZread Music is really only better if you watch music videos. Otherwise, KZread Music is the worst service for managing playlists, and the radio algorithm is bad.

I get so much more content from KZread Premium. More than 15x what I get from Netflix, Amazon and Disney+ combined. I don't mind creators running their own ad rolls, because it helps them make a living delivering the content I like. I can also skip ads with a few screen taps if I want. The algorithm ads are terrible, and just getting those out of the way is worth my sub.

Yep I agree! I drive all day for work so 90% of the time I'm listening to youtube content. It's 100% worth it to get rid of algorithm ads and to be able to lock my phone while listening. Not to mention being able to download videos and not use all my data.

Cameron, thank you so much for the excellent tip. I too was paying 29.99 a month via Apple. I did as you suggested and I'm saving $7.00 per month, $84 per year! I'm retired and this helps.

I've been on KZread premium since launch so I'm grandfathered in at $8.99 since I continued it from Google music. Been one of the services I will never end. I use the background play for listening to things in the car when I run errands or I can listen to audio on phone without killing my screen. I am always amazed whenever I see people dealing with ads on KZread, I totally forget often that others have ads on their services.

I've had the KZread Premium account since 2014 when I decided to leave Pandora behind. I uploaded about 5K songs onto KZread Music from my home computer and then found an infinite amount of music related to my library in the years since then. Being able to build specific endless playlists and stream podcasts has also been great. It's probably the best thing I spend money on. Probably over 10,000 hours of ad-free videos in the past decade has been worth every penny.

i got into GMusic too - they still only bill me $7.99 i see the bill every month when YTprem came along, that got added to my account automatically i didnt know how good a deal it was when i started but im getting an idea now : )

I am so glad KZread promoted this to my feed! I just got premium a couple of months ago, but Apple now charges $18.99 per month and that really seemed like too much even though I have taken to watching more KZread content than television. Thank you so much for this information.

Yes!!! When mine hit $18.99 after having it for 2 years I canceled and haven’t been back but miss the benefits. I only use it for videos and music and don’t need the TV at all! Thank goodness for this video!

Another neat trick is to subscribe to family membership and share the cost with a family member or a friend who lives in the same country, instead of paying for separate memberships 🙂

In my experience they did not check that part but you can always make a new local account and call it family so they can use it even though they are outside of your residential address/zone.

Actually even with KZread Premium you will be exposed to ads. Many KZread content creators are now embedding ad's in their videos. The ad's can be skipped of course, but it is still a pain. I feel these embedded ad's should not be allowed. If I pay for premium, I do not want to see ANY ads.

install the sponsorblock extension. It's a crowdsourced extension that allows people to mark where sponsored ads are in a video and then automatically skips them for you. If you see the ad first before it's reported, you can mark where the sponsored ad is for everyone else using the extension.

It’s messed up honestly and I’m not subscribing to those people anymore especially when I am paying so much to skip ads n they still skip it in if that is the case they should pay me

I've always hated ads but I also love being able to download and play on my own terms and especially at night when I don't want the Wi-Fi on. That makes it worth it to me although I do miss when they actually had premium content which seems to be non-existent now.

Yeah, the ads have been insane. Like even if I wanted to skip to another part, I immediately get hit by ads. I feel like I spend more time watching the ads than actually getting to actually consume the content. I know they're just doing this because they want to try to force people to subscribe rather than having KZread be a free platform. But when I checked out how expensive it is, my jaw dropped because it's considerably more than most streaming services for a single user. Thank you so putting out this video. I don't know yet if I'm going to pay the $15 or just stomach the constant ads or not

One important thing to remember about KZread premium directly supports the creators you like and watch by automatically giving every video you watch the full ad money they would get normally even if you don't watch the whole video. So it does support the creators more!

I had been a Premium subscriber for more than 2 years through Apple. Last July (2023), I received an email from Apple notifying me of a price increase for the Premium service. The next day, KZread also sent me an email about the upcoming increase while letting me know how much I would save by subscribing directly to them. Which I did immediately.

Oh my gosh! I stumbled across this video while researching something else about my subscription. I always thought it was strange that my KZread Premium was billed through Apple, but got used to it. I've been a Premium member nearly four years now! I really appreciate this video and will be changing my billing immediately.

Thank you Cameron. I'd been paying that extra $4/month for a long time now. I just didn't know about the 'Apple Tax.' You definitely earned a like, subscribe, comment and share from me.

I'm huge fan of premium! I get a lot of value out of KZread Music with the amount of driving I've been doing for work, and the ad-free environment and background play are certainly big pluses!

@@ravinschannel hmmmm I don’t think so? I think at that point, there is something called a “family subscription plan” iirc? I could be totally wrong, as I’m not totally sure, that’s a good question. But I don’t think you can use multiple emails for one premium subscription. I believe it locks to one email, but I do believe there is a “family plan” of sorts… you can also try it for I think 3 months for free? That’s what it was for me when I tried it, that might be gone now but you can do at least a month free and test it out!

I quit my premium because they suspended me from commenting for a day over a comment I made. I'm not paying for them to hassle me. I'm also spending less time on YT as well.

UPDATE: I normally use Firefox for web browsing, so when I had the aforementioned trouble subscribing to KZread Premium directly, I decided to try it in Safari. I logged out of my KZread account and logged back in via Safari, and the Premium option for $11.99 (+ tax) came up, and I was able to subscribe again successfully with KZread Premium DIRECTLY. Thanks for the money saving tip!

On Firefox fox there's extension to block ads and play KZread on locked screen. No premium, no payment.

That is simply awesome 👏 I am living in Saudi Arabia and I was paying 32.99 Saudi Riyal per month (subscribed through iPhone) and now because of you (all steps explained so easily) I subscribed again from windows and it is costing me 23.99 Saudi riyal per month. Great job mate 👍 thanks a lot 😊

I have been a YT Premium member since July 2020 (36 months) & I have watched >7,170 hours of ad-free so for 20 months you have been doing very well Cameron.

I’ve been a member since Feb 21,2022 and I have 1,440hrs of ad free videos, 520hrs of background play, 660hrs of KZread music, and 35 videos watched offline. I’ve unfortunately been hit with the Apple tax for close to 2 years now and hopefully can save a little bit going forward. Edit- I’m a student now also and see the option for an even bigger reduction of what I was paying. Kicking myself for not looking into this further.

Thanks Cameron, FYI. Google won't honor what you already paid Apple. I cancelled through Apple on my iPhone. When pulling up my account on my PC it said it expires in 15 days (Oct 10th) as expected. Good I thought, Google knows that so I can sign-up now and I won't lose the 15 days I already paid for. No such luck, after providing my credit card and submitting - my CC was immediately charged and Google said it will renew in 30 days (Oct 26).

I was scratching my head why I seemed to be paying more for Premium than I thought I should. Unbelievable that Apple is that stinking greedy. I love their products but this makes me question my allegiance. I've cancelled my Premium and will renew via Chrome using a non-Apple card when the time comes. Thanks for this video!

It’s not stinking greedy - they are providing a service, the App Store and a quick easy way to pay for and monitor subscriptions. They can’t do that for feee. Actually the whole world of apps is their invention. They can’t do that for free. That said I may look into re-subscribing to KZread premium through Google as this fellow recommends but I won’t be doing so spitting and cursing at so-called Apple greed.

I watch KZread more than any other streaming service. By alot. No ads is important and so is the closed viewing/audio experience as well as the download feature. But supporting the platform I love and making my view worth more to my favorite creators makes it a no brained. Don’t tell KZread but I would pay double if I had to.

I think creators get a bigger cut from premium views as well. As for the complaints about creator sponsor ads, fair enough. But it is the main way they make money. I'm sure most creators would rather not have them. Adsense doesn't pay very well at all, and at least you can skip the creators ads at will with no timer delay, etc. And honestly some of the creator ads can be legitimately entertaining.

I saved $5/mo for 2 full years on my KZread Premium subscription by qualifying as a student ($6.99/mo) before I finally had to start paying $11.99/mo because I was no longer eligible for the student discount. I’m surprised you didn’t mention this perk for students of accredited universities. Now, I’m at 9,290 watched hrs in 3 years of paid membership.

I listen to videos a lot while I'm doing housework, or when I'm donating plasma, I'm around 7600 in 26 months. But I also listen to some videos falling asleep and watch/listen to every single video at 2x speed. I feel like I'm wasting time watching at 1x speed. Once I figured that out (speed control) I haven't gone back, and KZread is what I watch 98% of the time. Like I'll have sports on the TV, and one earbud in, and listen or watch videos during the game. And my tv is linked with this account, so any videos my husband watches on TV counts as my hours.

Thank you for this! I’m also curious about having different channels. If I have an old channel and a current channel on the same account, do they both benefit from the premium? Sometimes premium works on my iPhone & smart tv, but when I watch on my computer there are still ads. Hmmmm...

Does KZread offer annual individual or family plans at a cheaper price? If so, what is the process to do so?

I’m following your advice, but there are a couple things. First, on iPad the interface is a little different, I actually really like to see the usage stats you’re talking about, but I wasn’t able to find them. The other thing worth noting is that it doesn’t seem like the cancellation takes affect right away. In other words, it shows up in the Apple store, but it doesn’t show up in the app. And then, on desktop, at least within the first five minutes, the change doesn’t show up there. Not sure how long it will take before it shows up so that I can make the change. Update: I had to wait until the email went out about 2 hours later that confirmed my membership was canceled, and then I was able to renew at the lower price. Thanks!

Yes. I didn’t know the apple tax was a thing. I do not have a computer, just an iPhone and iPad. I cancelled just now but my subscription is good for about 2 more weeks. Tomorrow or the next day I will see if I can resub again at the lower price. If not I can always go back to apple store & resub at the same price I was paying. I really won’t have lost anything so why not try.

@@macsiah just note it took far longer than 5 minutes for me. At least 30min, but I think 2 hours. Also, after I reupped, Apple sent me a reminder the day before expiry as if I hadn’t signed up with Google. I am ignoring them.

Just received a notice this morning saying my family plan membership is increasing from $23/mo to $30/mo. Been a member since Nov 1, 2020. I did not realize I’ve been paying this goddamn sorry ass apple tax for two years now. Going through the steps to cancel my membership and then renewing on a PC device. Huge thanks for waking me up to this!

been using KZread Premium from back in the days when it was named KZread Red -- my sentiments are similar to yours - but I already had a subscription not using Apple's App Store so only paid about $10 per month. Recently upgraded to family so my wife could use it also as she is now watching a lot more KZread than she had in past years.

Premium isnt the only subscription I have that I really like, no just for no ads, but for KZread music. Plus KZread has a great library of free movies. Totally worth the price in my opinion.

First, thank you so much for making this video and sharing your knowledge. I know this video is a year old and KZread has increased their price since April 2023. Your method still works and knocks off $2 off the individual plan, but for Family Plan it is still locked at $22.99 (use to be $14.99 for me before April 2023, as I was grandfathered in from the original promotional offering).

Ok, so I have over 3,000 hours in 18 months, but I use it for background noise and to sleep to. Thank you so much for this hack. I finally got around to changing my sub when it went to $18.99 on the iPhone. It's $13.99 still for me via the web so that's a big win in my book. Thanks for the step by step on this. It was easy to do - only warning is to wait around 15-20 minutes between cancelling on the iPhone and signing up on the web as it takes a little time for the cancellation to flow through.

I agree. Subscribing to premium is a must if you care about watching youtube regularly. Like with so many things they just have no sense of what is reasonable with ads. "More is better" is not always true and in many cases it is not. No, jamming as many ads as you can down people's throat is not better than if you didn't. Marketers are stupid anyway. Offending people is not the way to gain their positive approval of you.

Ads are getting so stupid and ridiculous they are almost offending to watch. Who wants to watch people floating around in a commercial or animals talking or doing stupid things. We could do without loud music and dancing around like idiots too.

I’ve used the family plan of Premium for years and love it and can’t imagine watching any other way! When I saw my friends YT with ads it took me out of the experience. It’s for sure worth it! Also, with the Family Plan you can invite up to 5 people and share the cost if you want.

I live across the pond in the UK and have had KZread premium for a long time. I pay £20 a month. I have a direct debit set up through my bank and as far as I am aware I don't pay apple anything. I don't have an I Phone or anything apple related. I watch KZread a lot so that £20 is worth every penny. We can have 5 devices on the plan so it's on our TV, phones and tablets. AMAZING ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. Not watched your channel before but will certainly watch in future 🔮

I'm a grandfathered Google Music introductory price subscriber for $10.81 (which includes sales tax), which started with just Play Music, then they added KZread Red at no extra cost, then KZread Premium, and then Google Play Music -> KZread Music. It has gone up a little from the original $7.99 (with no sales tax), but not too bad.

Do downloaded videos still play if you barely have 3G? (2 bars average) I’m wayyy in the country. Had a ‘Hub’ for increased cell service but it ended up costing $300 a month.

I've had a KZread premium membership since back when it included Google Play Music. It is totally worth it. It makes KZread more enjoyable to watch without ads. The only annoying thing is when content creators sponsor products during their video. I usually just hit fast forward.

Found out about the Apple penalty last year. You can also save more per month by paying annually. If I remember right it averages about $8 per month.

You’re missing the perks here. I’m a day 1 KZread premium subscriber through the App Store. I pay 6 USD for KZread premium & music (family). Since I subbed through Apple and never cancelled my subscription, prices NEVER rise. I’m fully protected from price hikes, so I’d say if you have the on-launch KZread premium price, do not change your payment method or else you WILL pay more.

Do I need the family plan for two tvs in my home?

Dude, I’ve been paying for KZread happily for a year, the biggest thing is, I can save around 400 videos inside my phone, then, when I fly to or from Japan, I’ve got tons of videos to watch inside the plane. That’s such a killer app for me.

i didn't see a mention BUT - a family plan is even more worth the price. the family account gives you up to 6 users, all with the full benefits. prices are going up to 22.99 for the family plan now, but even at that price, having family plan ans sharing the cost makes it way cheaper :)

Apple’s KZread Family subscription is currently $22.99 and will go up to $29.99 on November 30th.

I used safari to watch KZread and with safari extensions I have no adds and I can play videos in de background That I not able to download Videos offline doesn’t bother me at all

Thank you for this video. I had managed to cancel my membership but for some reason when I was trying to re-sign up without going through the App Store it just kept directing me to the App Store. With your instructions, I was able to re-subscribe without the App Tax

Thank you ! Just continued a plan I was going to cancel. I live on a lane, that I walk and bike on, that loses signal. Also have property that doesn’t get signal. I download all numbers of subjects and enjoy having it. Great for riding motorcycle and having app closed. I am now saving five dollars a month.

Have been a Premium member for twelve months and I really love it. I connect to KZread Music every night to fall asleep to so that's a great bonus for me. Also, being able to play KZread videos even when the phone is locked and in my pocket is fantastic. Not an iPhone user so the Apple Tax is not a problem I have to worry about.

Thanks for posting this video. I was being charged by Apple for a Family plan for $22.99/month. I don't know how that happened, but I've been over paying, even more than most since 2022. I had to cancel my membership through my laptop and through the iPhone KZread app. When I go to the "Purchases & Memberships" section, and under the "Offers from KZread", I only see a Family Plan or KZread TV as offers for me. I don't see an individual plan offered outside of Apple. The individual plan offered by Apple is $18.99/month, billed through Apple. Do you possibly know why I'm not able to see any offers for individual plans through KZread? Thanks for your thoughts on this 🙂

I've had the family plan ($14.99/m for six people) for about two years. My adult kids note that if a friend plays a video for them, the ads are brutal. They haven't seen ads for a while!

Hey, it’s all on the same app whether you have premium or not.

June 26 2021 > 2,440 hrs Ad-free videos > 40 hrs Background play > 7 hrs Listened on KZread Music > 0 Videos watched offline I have cable, apple+, prime video, but my go-to is only ever youtube. Relevant opinions of real people making a go of it. A vote for the little guy.

I feel like KZread premium is only really worth it if you watch KZread on your smart TV. And also the screen-off playing videos. That's it. If I was able to find a way to do those two things without paying for premium I wouldn't. I don't mind creators putting baked in ads, I can just skip them, and many creators also do it creatively (internet historian) so it makes it both hilarious and enjoyable to watch in addition to serving its purpose of being an ad. It also actually makes me more comfortable with whatever is being advertised so if more KZreadrs did that it would love that. KZread music is in my personal opinion garbage. I love my audio quality and Spotify is much better for that. (Tidal is better but I disagree with their business) if I want to really support a creator or artist I buy the album/donate directly. (Last note but personal preference for everyone is get rid of your Apple device. They are all baked together to trap you into a seemingly impossible to get out of "ecosystem" and makes you "think different"..... Also their business practices are probably the fucking worst along side their "customer service")

I would love to know of a multi national company not as corrupt or even more so than Apple. Certainly not Google…you can be certain of that. All their hands are dirty. It’s a matter of choosing your poison. IMHO

I got a 3 month trial few months back and I noticed depending on where I would be signing up for premium it was about $1-2 difference. One place was on the phone app and I can't remember where the other was, maybe on a browser or the App Store under subscriptions. I found that pretty odd. What you're talking bout is so much more of a discount though. $11.99 is definitely a better price. Having said that, the only part of premium I care about is no ads. I hate ads. I just don't $11.99 a month hate them. Think the most I'd pay for that would be like $5 but even then I'd prolly not go for it. Ads are terrible. I had a 15 unskippable one couple months back. I had one shippable after 15 seconds but the AD ITSELF was literally over 3 hours!! Which is stupid. If I'm watching while doing dishes I don't want to have to stop and dry my hands off every few mins to skip a 3 hour long ridiculous ad. Last night had an hour long one show up.

Seems like I can’t make this change from my iPad. Is there another way to change my payment method?

I've used KZread Premium since September of 2018*, and I can't see myself ever going back. I haven't tried out KZread Music (I know, I probably should), but the ad-free experience is _so freakin' nice,_ man! I know there are adblockers, and I did use one on my PC before I turned it off on KZread to support the channels I were watching, but it's so nice to seamlessly get all ads removed no matter where you choose to watch KZread (minus the bug where vids on the PS4 still had ads on them). I also always missed the feature that was on the OG iOS KZread app where the video would still keep playing when you minimised the app, so that was a much welcome return, and I love being able to lock my phone or quickly check another app without the video pausing! It's also nice to be able to remove ads while also supporting the KZreadrs you watch, and I've downloaded all of Cinemassacre's _Monster Madness_ vids and a few more to watch at my friend's cabin (which I have done). *I'm at 4960 hours, 80 in the background. Dunno if that's bad or not, but it could've been higher I guess. Feel like I use KZread every day, but I suppose there has been some periods of downtime.

YT Premium is my go to subscription. If I could only have one, this would be it. People pay £10 a month for Spotify alone, but with YT Premium you get the benefits of a standalone music streaming service along with add free KZread for just another £2 a month.

What is the time gap between the time you cancel and the time you can do the new direct subscription ?

how many devices can you use at the same time?

I've had youtube red/premium for around 10 years or something. I've had both the 1 user and multiple user premium accounts. It's definitely worth it and makes the experience much more pleasant. KZread music also makes it worth it. If you split the cost with other people, it's a no brainer. I have high usage with this platform and it's music service. Overall I think it's a high value service. Highly recommended

@@ChristineNavarroTV Nov 2014 is the official start of KZread red. I commented with old memory, 8 years moving onto now 9 is pretty close to 10 years so I was still within a reasonable margin. Sue me. Besides all that, people need to do research themselves and rely on their own judgements, especially with something so trivial and miniscule as what we're bickering about. So in summary, I stand by what I said and will further modify it for increased accuracy so no one else whines about it. Keep in mind I specifically said "10 years or something", which means approximately or roughly. So yes it is close. If you actually wanted to help out and be useful, you would have done a 10sec google search for that information I just found and listed it right here for others to benefit from, but you didn't. We aren't talking hard facts here on a political show, so let's all calm down a bit and slow our roles, pump those brakes. Kthx

They raised the prices now, though it's definitely worth it if you find value in youtube or youtube music services. For me it was a no brainer. @@zeeMuniStacksBundles I think an especially important detail with the Family plan is that it's an actual plan meant to be shared; you get to invite all 5 of the other accounts so people just use what they use. I think this is the same as something like Spotify Family, but it is importantly different from how tv streaming services handle Premium accounts which is what people share--where there's just one account with multiple profiles. It's actually kinda insane how it runs on the same model as Spotify costing about the same when it has a ton of benefit aside from KZread Music, which I already prefer on its own compared to Spotify.

November 22 the price goes up to 29.99 for us. We canceled because of all the different companies that increased the price KZread went up by a full 7$. It was far cheaper to go to Hulu, Disney and Espn. I suggest you cancel KZread and get Hulu bundle instead.

Can you answer why the ads have been interrupting my KZread premium stream? Can’t find a way to contact YT, so will be canceling subscription, bc it is false to say the ads go away, they’re back and I can’t stand them. Wish it was easier to get help with this.

My only concern is when they have new policies that they have exemptions for people grandfathered from KZread red. Re-subscribing means starting over under current KZread premium policies (which aren’t treated 100% exactly the same)

@@lamario when I first had KZread red, I was paying 11 dollars a month, than my payment lapsed and I had to re-subscribe to the service. Low and behold a year or two later it happened again. So instead of paying 12 dollars, I have to pay 20 now. Another example I noticed on this last screw up, is that KZread Premium and KZread music Premium are two separate services now! So I can’t enjoy add free videos only add free music. It’s a major bummer deal

Another thought I had was this: Sitting through ads that interrupt a program is like sitting through a movie that is interrupted by ads. We wouldn't do that in a theatre. We pay for a ticket with the understanding that we are going to see THE. MOVIE. KZread says 'Sure, we will show you the movie (or video or music or whatever) but we will interrupt it from time to time with ads for your enjoyment and our bottom line.' No thanks.

KZread music was a plus for me but playing vids in the background and not dealing with ads is worth it

I'm up to >1.980 hours. Personally I am very glad for using Premium. I hate ads. I know that you can use adblock to get around some of them. But I want to support the people that spend hours to make content that I enjoy watching every day. I don't like cheating to get stuff I enjoy for free. And honestly, paying to use premium for a month, is not more expensive than what I spend a normal friday. I can afford it.

I have 6,520 hrs of Ad Free Videos, 550 hrs background play, 710 hrs on youtube music, and watched 422 videos offline. Which I didn't even know I was downloading them. To be fair I forget and leave it running on the TV all the time so that probably contributes quite a bit. LOL

As someone who never uses apple... the apple tax really irritates me. I've been a yt family plan subscriber for a lonnng time. I used to use yt music, but I had to go on Spotify for a particular playlist and it's definitely superior in regards to music.

I already pay to get internet at home. I''m not paying one f**king penny more to watch youtube.
