I'd love to see how MP Astrotrain works out. I'd really like them to make it a proper Railroad scale of some kind

Mass shifting was used as the excuse for things like this such as how megatron is one of the biggest decepticon but has the second smallest alternate form

I do not regret not buying this figure all those years ago

Had this Astrotrain, but ended up eBaying it. Still have G1 Astrotrain & as much I like him, I still don't get why a version hasn't been made that can at least fit Minicons inside. It just seems whenever they make one they try to make him as small possible. Meanwhile, you can still get your hands a SUPREME BUMBLEBEE!?!? Whatever... Hasbro made questionable decisions with Generations Blitzwing, especially in the shoulders, but I really like this figure... WAY MORE than the G1 verison. Although I liked the alt modes for G1, the robot mode was just a clunky mass of airplane bits...

Not really, just in certain cases. I'm actually glad they finally made a large version of Astrotrain now (Chigurh). And I happen to like Transformers that can fit other figures inside. I just thought it was an oxymoron that they made Bumblebee, who is one the smallest characters, into one the largest figures ever, but they originally made Astrotrain, one of the largest characters, into very small figure.

NebulusPrime The reason they make supreme bumblebee over astrotrain is because Bumblebee has a bigger name, and astrotrain is a lesser known character; so they know bumblebee will sell better., and the truth is; it works because people will buy Bumblebee and Optimus in various sizes. And unfortunately because of this..it takes up space that could have been used for other characters, such as astrotrain, etc. Now having said that... personally, I don't actually mind it. Bumblebee is like my 4th favorite autobot, so I kinda understand people who love buying him in different sizes. (I am not one of those ppl) I am just happy with owning just two different kinds of Bumblebees and that is it. But I understand why hasbro makes so many and why people wan't to buy them up.

This and the Henkei Astrotrain are my favorites because they remind me of TheAmazingSpino’s art, which is my favorite design for him.

Are you gonna review Titans Return Astrotrain?

To be fair to Metroplex, aircraft carriers are basically small cities. Probably not big enough for a transformer-scale city, though. Anyway, I bet this Astrotrain would have been vastly improved if it had made the cockpit by folding extra kibbly bits around the front of train mode. That would also lend itself to a pretty awesome-looking stop motion of him getting up to speed on tracks and then jumping up and transforming to get to orbit.

+Glenn Tang Metroplex goes from "cybertronin" city to "cybertronin" aircraft carrier, (who knows how things scale on their world)...then both hold those tiny scaled tf figures. I think it works.

Cool video man, Astrotrain is one of my top favorites from the G1 line, great video man, I will have to get this version sometime!!!

+Ryan Freeland i don't exactly recommend it anymore, if you can afford it Chigurh or Evila star would probably be a better bet

Eyebrow what are your thoughts on the Titans return Blitzwing and Astrotrain and Octane? Do you think they're good figures and and upgrades from the previous versions (mainly Classics Astrotrain and Tankor, and Generations Blitzwing) and do you think they represent the generation one versions really well?

Novexus Nui 777 well, I've only seen screen shots of Blitzwing while owning the megatron, and I have the astrotrain, and I can happily say yes, both of those figures are stellar. it's nice to have a voyager astrotrain that turns into a full on train instead of a locomotive, with good articulation too. and blitzwing.....oooohhhhh what am improvement from 2013. soooooo much better tankor is from season 3. sooooo I don't know too much about him, but i woukd say it's better than generations. that thing stank. as for G1? astrotrain no (but bot mode yes) blitzwing is sooo much yes octane is.....kinda?

i have this one , and the g1 version. to me they both have their weaknesses , most i think are soused by lack of size. so i think they should make an MP version of either one , or heck even a new version. I LOVE TRAINS 2. maby then we will finally get a cool good functioning version. am curious what they would come up withe.

Nice review! I have this guy but I can't seem to find him :P he is one of my favorites out of the classics line, but has a lot of flaws (as seen in your review XD) and did you happen to paint the back of the shuttle black? Last time I checked it was white haha definitely makes it look better :3

The figures aren't technically compatible. but it's HO scale track. this specifically is Bachmann EZ track. you can find it pretty much anywhere a hobby shop can be found and it's like a buck per 12" piece

Great honest review. I don't know if I would agree with your hatred for Generations Blitzwing, but I can understand your disappointment with him. I think that this version of Astrotrain was good back when it came out, but the advances in engineering and design have come so far this guy needs an update badly. It seems though that figures aren't being produced as much unless the mold can be used for other figures with some retooling or just straight-up reissued to death like MP Grimlock. :/ I hope that Takara / Tomy / Hasbro wakes up and realizes the gold mine they have if they make MP Triplechangers. If the sale of MP Starsaber and MP Ultramagnus go well hopefully that will pave the way for more unique molds. I know I would buy a MP Blitzwing, Astrotrain and Octane if they made one. I know we got Generations Springer and Sandstorm, so a Broadside would be great as well. I know if they only made 3 MP figures next year and they were all triplechangers we could all be happy. I enjoyed your duo banter on this review.....makes me want to look for your original review to see how far you have come. I like your Lego Stop motion Logo build better than the 3D rendered one you used on this review. Keep up the great work, hope you feel better soon! :D

Great review, I have my classics astrotrain, I think he's okay but one thing that could make him better is some reprolabels for him, I can see some stickers being made for his windows and a few other spots.

I've seen both and I was doing some seeeeerious debating as to which one to get. ToyWorld's looks amazing! wheel connecting rod, faithfulish Steam Loco mode, awesome shuttle. everything about is awesome except the size since I'm upgrading all my animation to MP grade. this is where DX9 comes into play, according to the measurments he's just shy of soundwave from head to toe = P

I wish I could borrow G1 Astrotrain. It looks like a good figure and so does this.

Hopefully someday one day will creates a HUGEEEEEEE astrotrain figure that is like 3 times bigger than MP-10 OP (I kind of doubt it though)

Astrotrain first appeared in the episode “Blaster Blues”, not “Triple Takeover”.

How did this thing get past the design stage?

I like Classics Astrotrain a lot, although that could just be nostalgia, seeing as how I was a kid when I bought this. Anyway, why doesn't a third-party just give G1 Astrotrain better arms? It's very cost-effective and improves an already great mold.

There's a jillion ways this could've and still can be improved. Not to mention the lack of third party support for any triple changer but Springer. So I kinda don't get why the triple changers are left in the dirt so often

The Lazy Eyebrow Reviewer I don't disagree by any means. What's especially weird about third party support is that they're always concerned about G1 and little else, so you'd think they'd be all over Triple Changers, but they're not.

Autobot Broadside has it worse in terms of size between modes, a fighter jet to an aircraft carrier.

Wished I had that mold and I do under stand there is a Takara three pack out there that is include but I don't know I'll get it. (Henkei Classic Decepticon Specialists Three Pack)

had it, was happy with it for two weeks, but eventually I came to despise it. tried to fix several issues including loose hips and ended up breaking the thing

I live in a small city and when the classics and universe toys came out, they never sold those lines. My dad had to find my figures on eBay. I wanted Astrotrain when I was 7(08) but it looks kinda bad. Luckily I never got it

Gonna be honest, not entirely sure what the point your making is It's the Bachmann EZ track yeah, and those freight cars are from Bachmann as well, the AC4400 is from Athern though. It's all HO scale, though

I don't have this guy... But I hate his train mode... Much rather have a steam locomotive with massive thrusters on the back of the cab...

Me too, but I don't have the money! The only 3rd party product I got is the KFC Shoulder Rocket upgrade kit for FoC Optimus Prime, and even then, I only used the actual shoulder rockets (which are already custom painted). Those stacks are still in the packaging.

i dont see why everyone is hating on blitzwing. i have him and his shoulders are fine, and you cant tell me i got lucky cause three of my friends blitzwings are fine too, he IS a very good toy, and makes a good classics blitzwing #stopblitzwinghate

his plane mode left a lot to be desired, my copy's hips were wobbly, my shoulders would always come apart (so the factory that shipped to your area probably had a good cast mold to work with) and I would've liked the tank turret to rotate for being a voyager but I can live with out that have you seen though, the new titans return megatron they're going to make into blitzwing?
