Yamanaka Misaki : When using 24 fps for a stop motion shoot, I usually made realistic moves, but this time, I challenged myself to make 2D movement. In this stop motion shoot, I kept in mind to make the arms and legs in the right angle, despite the fast movement.
Kasubuchi Rio : It took so much time to compound Haruhi’s moves in 24fps and 8 fps. Since 24 fps Haruhi’s shadow was overlapping the 8 fps Haruhi, I carefully cut out the shadow without making it look unnatural. It took 16.5 hours to shoot, 24.5 hours to edit, and shot 164 frames.

This is a great example of why framerates can and should be mixed in animation, imo. There is a charm to the broad motion being choppy, but the rapid flourish at the end needs a higher framerate to come through.

Holding frames let's the viewer's mind fill in the blank. It's choppier but in some ways can be more beautiful -- just look at Spider Verse. The real challenge with movement on every frame in 24fps is that if the animator messed up, it's incredibly noticeable. That's why if you look at animated movies or cinematics from game companies it looks so fluid at 24, because they're the best in the world. At the end of the day, it's the animator's skill that will make all the difference.
