Stop Making Wavy Cuts on Your SAWMILL

While sawmilling up beams I notice an issue and will have to do some maintenance on the woodmizer lt40 sawmill to stop wavy cuts!
When running a bandsaw sawmill like the woodmizer lt40 sawmill you sometimes get wavy cuts and when it isn't the band, speed or big knots (also speed) then it might be the drive belt tension and you need to know how to adjust it. I'll adjust the drive belt tension on my woodmizer sawmill and get back to milling.
Maintenance on the woodmizer lt40 sawmill is pretty simple and needs to be done periodically to keep the mill in good working shape.

Keeping the Blade Idler Arm closer to the work piece will reduce some of the waves. I also found increasing the Tooth Offset from 0.021" to 0.031" or even 0.041" will also reduce the waves in Knotty Pine. Sharp blades and speed of cut as well as Blade Tension is important.

YH is one of those I began learning from a dozen years back ;)
I have such a difficult time getting the belt tension correct…It would be stellar if you went over the whole process…from Mr. Wavy (Caribou Maine).

Thanks for sharing and viewing the belt inspecting and adjusting, never seen any discussion of this topic. Question, what your thoughts of wood Humidity, any concerns, ever need to check. PS: Yea I love the finish wood cut, it's just Art Work ... :)

Do you mean the moisture content of the wood? If so, wetter is better is my motto for milling!
Been just a tad busy, try to watch all your videos, got to this one late. Just one little question. Your drive belt doesn't ride under the blade does it? I suspect not. So how would a loose drive belt produce a wavy cut?

The drive belt drives a pull on a shaft that the band wheel is on. Too loose a drive belt and it doesn't provide the power to cut smoothly.

I’ll have to remember about the drive belt in the future. Looked like it wasn’t a bad job to tighten up. Will be watching for you to do a in-depth video on it. Good job.

It's not too bad once you get used to it. ends doing the first 20hrs then checked about every 50 hrs or so.
