First of all, really disappointed Darshan! I respected you a lot! While I made videos regarding pros/cons of a coaching platform You instead made a video targeting me calling me hypocrite and having ulterior motive. Anyhow, responding to your baseless claims. 1. Never said Coaching apps is vast for 1/2nd year This criticism was aimed at Interns and post interns - but the supremely smart Darshan probably confused Interns and 1st year. 2. I promoted use of Standard Textbooks over Coaching apps So you’re promoting use of these apps instead of standard textbooks. You want students to instead read App notes over standard textbooks which make your basics more clear. 3. I told about use of FREE/CONCISE/CONCEPTUAL RESOURCES I know that standard textbooks are not everyone’s cup of tea - which is the reason i made it a point to always recommend FREE VIDEO RESOURCES which were better/more concise. Pathoma Ninja Nerd for Physiology Dr. Lionel Raymon (Kaplan) Acland Anatomy Kaplan Biochem All these resources are much more concise than any coaching app. They are free. They are conceptual. 4. Ulterior Motive Me promoting ‘FREE’ videos has an ulterior motive while you are promoting a coaching app. Hypocrisy ki bhi seema hota hai yaar. 5. AIIMS Doesn’t have good lectures Which is the reason i know about these videos. If AIIMS had good lectures - why would i know about them Which is the reason I’m unable to recommend a resource for Microbiology. AIIMS lectures were best. So, i dont know a vivdeo resource for Micro. 5. My advice is according to year. 1/2nd year - Std Textbooks/Free videos 3rd year - Coaching Apps intern - First Aid Unlike you who plainly recommends Marrow to everyone. WHo has an ulterior motive - do let me know. Dr. Darshan so smart, the only thing he knows is Marrow. Dr. Darshan so smart, he confused advice for interns with 1/2nd year. Dr. Darshan so smart, promoting use of ‘paid’ apps instead of free resources. Dr. Darshan so hypocrite, he himself didn’t use them in 1/2nd year but will recommend its use. Also, i have always said ‘ Pehle Istemal karen phil vishwas karien’ No need to listen to me. Try these videos - they are FREE!! Marrow/Prep ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE! Links to these videos in Description. All those who have used Pathoma/kaplan videos - do let me and Darshan know if you like them. Also, Darshan - you have every right to promote use of anything in the world . It was very disheartening to see a fellow doctor taking a dig just for the sake of a video. You could have told about pros about coaching apps for your subscribers instead making a video about me.

Dr Aditya Please don't get disheartened I am also surprised to see this I belong to a private college I always use to think Aiims main sab kuch Kitna aacha hota hoga And both of you belong to Aiims although at different places l am always attracted I have been watching your videos as well as Dr Darshan videos for queit a while now And thanks a lot for giving us the insights of the branded institutes of our country It wasn't expected from Dr Darshan to act this way. But l want to say the whole crux of the senario is to pick relevant points which works best for you. There is no need for us to follow any single platform or resource or single persons advice COMPLETELY for our preparation. Because when it comes to medical feild sky is the limit. Each and every one of us are at different phases of life financially as well as by knowledge. Everybody's situation is different Everybody's grasping capacity is different So it depends upon us to pick up relevant points and do what works best for us. You always sound as if some big brother is talking me and thank for giving me the knowledge of the resources which however l wasn't aware of. We all need to understand that the teachers that teach on various coaching platforms have themselves read standard textbooks which made them legends. Books are always one time golden investments Without any renewal No matter how many editions get updated You go back to the same book same edition which you have read in your ug for any reference I used boloor in my final year And Ramdas nayak for pathology in second year And l love these books I always go back to them when need arises. If l would have used standard textbooks in my proff No doubt l have had went back to them Advice to Current medical students: When you are in proffs You still have time to figure out To get yourself habituated to the standard textbooks Unfortunately the senario of the medical field is changing Where your success is being measured on the rank and not on the passion of this field. Everybody is in the rat race. No doubt it is important for us get a good rank because it makes us more competent and strong minded. But using different resources according to your brain and money capacity will do no harm It will only do good I picked up the point of previous years questions ,reading good books and making consiced self notes from Dr Aditya's videos and meditation and focus visualisation of your goal from Dr Darshan's video and right now l am working on it But sometimes when l don't understand the subject I also watch videos because audio visual works quite good for me No matter what any coaching institute cant beat Dr Najeebs Ecg series. Usmle step book has all the subjects integrated step wise It depends on our capacity to what can do and what we need to do The whole point is pick up what works best best for Work on it And make your life 🙂🙂

No it's definitely immature to attack someone by name on social media . You need to think a thousand times before saying anything in this platform . Him being a well reputed doctor also raises the level of conduct expected from him . You don't need to bring people down to elevate yourself . Yes people should use whatever they want to and Aditya said as much but what even was the need to darg his name into it .

I don't know about the controversy, but I do regret not reading standard textbooks. I wasn't able to clear my concepts in first and second year. Well sir , I haven't used Kaplan in my MBBS time but I do agree about that standard books are Gold and attempt should be taken to read them not just for competitive exam but for clearing the concepts. I did crack PG due to coaching but after entering my MS I gave MRCS and cracked it with just 2-3 months of preparation and that was totally due to concepts being built up by Standard books i read from 1st year itself. But yes that's totally true that everyone should not go on reading standard books even if finding difficulty in understanding or not being able to devote enough time

It doesn’t matter which college or year you’re in - Standard Textbooks will help you . If you can’t understand- then Kaplan etc. or even Marrow/PrepLadder But promoting apps over reading standard textbooks is not smart work/ it’s dumb to be honest! And exactly- an attempt should be made! What’s wrong in advising trying to attempt to read these books. What’s the use of spoon feeding right from the day you enter MBBS. Even I used coaching - Bhatia And Marrow both - but I realised it’s importance for summarising in the end - the base will always be your knowledge in MBBS.

Very very true Dr Aditya I regret not reading std textbooks in my early mbbs years I read std textbooks in third year and final year along with marrow videos (Got air 1000 this year) The difference between marrow notes for 1st yr and 2nd yr vs. Std textbooks can be compared to the difference between shoes available in market vs. shoes designed by a company like Nike 1) both will run( clear exam) 2) roadside shoes hurt(unnecessary nuggets of information from coaching apps) 3) Nike shoes last a long time and are value for money ( concepts from textbooks and putting in hardwork last for a lifetime) The only con abt Nike shoes is that they're very expensive But ultimately it is not money, it's an investment in our future We always invest in good things Also, these textbooks tend to develop richness in thoughts Life is not just about cracking an entrance faster than others or having more information than others Life is also about enjoying the process of learning These 4.5 years of ug never come back

As a FMG who cleared his license exam in the first attempt I resonate with Dr. Aditya. The only thing which helped me clear were my standard textbooks. I focused on learning about the subject, least bothered about the license test with the pass % below 10. These coaching platforms are turning MBBS into a race similar to the one for NEET UG. Reading the standard textbooks, attending lectures should be the ultimate for a fresher. Read, read again, have doubts, ask your professors, discuss with your friends. If u must, then use a coaching platform as a secondary or tertiary tool. This atmosphere of fear around NEET PG plays to their benefit. Students are now more interested in which platform to opt for rather than which textbook to read. Medicine is an art, learn to enjoy it. Don’t confine medicine into 500-600hrs of lectures. They can never substitute standard textbooks :)

No !! Its never like that, anat (and all subjects for that matter) are too different and 'real' when read from a standard textbook...reading books helps you to create your own view point...which is the crux of MBBS...to make you independent and have your own opinion....classes are only for revision when time is less...so standard textbooks anyday, anytime will always beat any class, no matter how good that class is !!

Well being 2nd year medical student I’ve used both free as well as paid apps.I can say with new system and hike in level of clinical based questions right from 1st year onwards there is a need of a change in approach. Books and app should go hand in hand paid apps are better than free apps for sure but if you don’t want to make a hole in your pocket than free apps aren’t that bad too. Even though both are well qualified Doctors but you must appreciate from 2k19 onwards time has changed. In this scenario upcoming juniors should consult immediate seniors instead of partaking in KZread drama.

Very true Sir. The concepts we build gradually after reading books can't be compared to anything else. Paid subscriptions will just keep on spoonfeeding you and teach you within a limited boundary. But standard books will always provide the whole and detailed knowledge which is rather the most important thing. I know everyone has different perspective about each and everything but one shouldn't target anyone.

I agree its impossible to read marrow for intern n post intern I m post intern Hardly hv 6 months for next neetpg 23 I hv started to annotate my first aid with combining patho n medicine so i need not to do most of irrelevant topics Using marrow besides that .. Planning strategy day by day n bringing it into action.. Going just don't know how far i will go But definitely i m confudent that i will win Rest what i feel is that if u are able to read standard text book u can read N if u can't u can go with Non standarad textbooks Bcz motive of reading book is not just building ur concepts Concepts toh bhot kitaabo se ban jayenge But overall motive of reading a textbook is to develop craeative n critical thinning How u can integrate one concept into other Bcz once u read book n try to figure out that if question has been asked this qat or thay way or what happens if in place of z there was y then what will be my approach This approach u hv to develop It all depends upon u , in market there are no. Of sources good n solid U hv to just figure it out For me a combination of traditional way ( reading n marking in pre made material) and new way ( of caoching) works So i m having different appraoch Lets see next year what happens

In this rat race of neet pg everyone has forgotten the essence of this field. It's been boiled down to just getting a good rank in competitive exams, but that's not where it all ends. Books have always been the gold standard and there's a reason for that. No great physicians or surgeons have become great only by using shortcuts. The effort is required and that's a fact. It's better to get into the habit of reading early on in your mbbs days when there's ample time to choose from a vast ocean of resources. I did use marrow myself but only when I needed it for entrance exams and I'm glad I wasn't aware of such apps during my first/second year. It helped me for pg exams , no doubt ;but substituting books (international /indian authors ) with video lectures is not ideal or advisable. P. S. I did use Kaplan videos for immunology and they were outstanding. So dont hesitate to try multiple resources before choosing what suits you the best. It's not one size fits all kind of a thing.

I have been following Dr Aditya Sanjay Gupta since Quora days back when I was new to Mbbs and I have used Kaplan , Najeeb , Pathoma , Sketchy Videos and I would obviously recommend the same to my Juniors. Why? Because of the very simple reason to wire our brain to think and build concepts on our own rather than spoon feeding. When we read the book ourself , we think and try to connect the dots. This way you would remember the things better and also would be exciting too. First and second year is the very foundation of being a doctor. By the time you reach third/fourth year , you have become wise enough and hence going to coaching is a good idea.

What aditya is saying is correct about pathoma , first aid, ninja, dr. Najeeb and kaplan videos. Those who will watch these videos will automatically understand how conceptual these resources are. They are so conceptual then any indian app, and sometimes it feels that authors of standard text are explaining their content. Look at ninja, najeeb. Pathoma is so concise and upto mark nothing is required after that. And nothing can replace FIRST AID , the bhramastra for either to understand topic or pg prep.
