Example: There was a hissing/rattle sound in the right-front door. Three trips to the dealer and they couldn't find it. One fine Saturday morning, I decided to look inside the door. I removed the inner door panel; and, lo and behold, there was about a pint of random hardware (nuts, washers, sheet metal screws, machine screws, etc., about one-third of it rusty) which had, obviously, been tossed into the door as it went down the line. The brakes never worked well. And on and on. Screw GM.

Found an 07 vibe for my friend that just wanted something that won’t break and is practical. Paid 3500 for it not a speck of rust and runs like a top, got scratches and scuffs but she doesn’t care, never let her down after 5 years! Whoever bought it new must have special ordered it, it is the strangest optioned car i’ve ever seen, it has the painted body cladding not the plastic, the most expensive alloys available, the monsoon audio system, a sunroof and automatic transmission. BUT it has manual locks and manual windows, it’s perfect for her nothing can ever break! Also best part is, after a year of ownership someone hit the car on the passenger side and a piece of the cladding came off and they totaled it for 5k, bought it back and fixed it with a couple screws and made some money on the car. Absolute joy to own this thing.

A minister buddy of mine in Florida inherited his late mom's 2008 Pontiac Vibe a five years ago. She bought it not knowing it was essentially a Toyota, ironic since she was fiercely ant-Japanese and bought only American made cars. My friend whose never been very materialistic, drove the same Chevy Malibu for nearly 20 years. After inheriting his late mom's Matrix, he recently donated his old Malibu to a fellow struggling pastor. After seeing your previous Vibe videos, it gave me great pleasure to tell him that his mom's Vibe would probably last him for at least another 10 years, as long as he had it regularly serviced.

I had no idea how solid Lexus were when I got her, I had to get new brakes and rotors immediately because she was abandoned for a couple years and I bought new tires bc I'm in Florida and it's HOT! I've had her for two years and I had to replace the water pump and radiator because my engine light is always on so when the water pump went I didn't know until it blew up 😆, but the parts and labor were under 2 grand and it was easy to get parts. That reminds us of a Geo Prism that we had at the dealer where we worked as a asst. parts mgr. where we could not get parts for a car that had been in an accident. The Prism had been built in the Fremont plant & the factory told us just to order parts from a Toyota dealer network so we could get the customers vehicle up & running again. If we remember right we ordered the parts for a Toyota Cressida which had the same body panels & radiator core support. The only differences was the badging & some trim parts. We were able to repair the customers 1990 Geo Prism & several months later we were able to get the trim & badging parts & put them on. The car was almost brand new as it was a 1990 model but was hit later in the year the customer bought it. It was very weird to pickup parts for a GM marketed vehicle for repair from a Toyota dealer!

Vibes were an excellent deal at the time. The dealers didn’t really want to sell them, you could apply GM credit card points to the purchase too. I bought a GT in 2003, drove it for four years, gave it to my son and he still has it. I bought a leftover 2007 in early 2008 for my younger son, he drove it for 10 years, had a relatively minor accident that insurance totaled it. BTW Scotty, the GTs power kicked in when you hit the valve boost I think at 6250 RPM, the engine has some sort of bolt that wears out such that the valve boost won’t engage. You knew it when you hit it, a nice kick in the back all the way to 8k RPM redline.

I got a 93 honda accord 4 years ago for 800 bucks . With 83000 miles. 50000 more miles and still excellent condition. Peppy to.

Hey Scotty, I recently totaled my 2010 Lexus is250 awd with 155,000 miles. I bought it over 2 years ago with 120,000 for 7,000. The insurance payed me out 7,300 and I now want a newer Lexus for around 13-15k preferably an es350 2013- newer they are just super hard to find with decent mileage for that price. The used car market is crazy these days

My 2006 Vibe with 1.8 auto was a steal. Bought from the proverbial little old lady, 85k, spotless interior, new tires for $5000.00 . More interior room then the new models and no gdi or cvt.

@@JohnnyTyrone77 i hear ya & scotty (been loving scotty for years) ? I dunno, but for some reason they didn't hold up for other reasons i guess? ( Maybe too many other issues?) because there's hardly any Pontiacs on the road anymore: Let alone the vibes. I love Toyota's though. I even like some of the older classic pontiacs. The vibe just missed the style curve IMHO

I really like the look of those Vibe GT's. I managed a carwash for 27 years and saw so many of all cars on the road including very high end cars. But all those years the Vibe GT was made I think I had only ever had 2 customers that owned them and I never saw any more on the road

I bought a Vibe 2009 in 2017, it had 128.000km, ran all it all the way up to 254.000km and sold it. Very good car.
