I love how realistic you are ❤️ that's so true everyone has pores. We're not made of plastic. 🤷🏻♀️
From a 55 yr old woman this was FANTASTIC! Thank you for sharing these AMAZING tips! You ROCK 🥰👍 Tammy Roy 🇨🇦
I was talking to a famous MUA who said full coverage foundation is a fairly new phenomenon which seems to have started with young influencers who wanted to cover every flaw with heavy pancake makeup like drag queens. The same thing happened with over down brows with the drag queen influence. Unfortunately, many influencers are teaching young women to not like themselves and cover themselves as much as possible. It quite staggering when I see someone in person with heavy full coverage and "tin man" highlights. I feel so sorry for that girl. I absolutely know 20 year from now she's going to say "Why didn't someone tell me". On the other hand, it's just makeup and not permanent.

Add an Australian who's traveled a bit through Continental Europe, in STAGGERED at the "American" style makeup! It's HEINOUS! Not natural at all. It's COMPLETELY focussed on COVERING every imperfection, instead of AMPLIFYING the features you want. The European ethos of "flaws" = individuality = beauty is completely non existent in American KZreadrs and Instagrammers! It's staggering to me how banal, how petulant, how surface-level "beauty" and makeup had become to Americans! 🤦🤫

@@VashtiWood Suface-level is an apt discription of Americam style beauty. It no different from wearing a Burka in purpose.

@@VashtiWood You bring up some good points but please stop kissing European beauty standards' white colonizing buttocks. Yes there is a lot of cool, positive European art & culture as well!!! But Eurocentric standards of beauty have been used to seriously harm people outside of Europe, especially people of color and/or indigenous people & by claiming they're the idea or have a more "natural" beauty standard you're erasing that.

Shelby, shout out for you babe, you come with such GOOD videos lately. I really can learn from them as you pick up the things that most of us women are struggling with. Thank you again for gems of the videos, I have certainly file few of them under 'usefull tutorials'

True story: after 👏YEARS of trying to look like the "American" KZreadrs/Instagrammers (fake everything, duck-lip fillers, eye bag fillers, Botox etc) I embraced my inner European... I used a (cheap) light coverage powder foundation to "balance" the complexion instead of trying to blanket or with a full coverage foundation. Added A VERY muted/natural blush (with NO glitter/gold) and A MUTED cool eyeshadow over the lid to emphasise my eyes' natural shape... A lick of waterproof eyeshadow to hold the curl, and a spritz of makeup seeing spray . Result: the husband Couldn't stop commenting on how beautifuli looked, and asking what (procedure) is had done, and everyone at work ALSO commented on how pretty and elegant and classy I looked!
Always enjoy your videos. Love how you get to the point. Keep it up girl!!
GREAT video! Incorporating a live model in this way was perfect too. Really effective! I feel more accepting of my pores now and have a better understanding of how to deal with them. Thank you so much Shelby! ❤️❤️
I always feel weird telling people I use Tatcha primer every day when I don't wear foundation, but this is why. I use it just down the center of my face and it evens everything out. It's also helpful for if I have to dab a bit of concealer somewhere other than under my eyes - like on my nose. No more little dots of concealer where my pores live.
Good tips! I do think it's weird how "poreless" is the new beauty standard. Um, we all have pores. I agree that full coverage foundations draw attention to texture. Good info.
I love you Shelby! You create such great content. Thank you for educating and helping us!
Thank you for doing videos like this! I don’t have large pores, but I love your approach on makeup. You’ve changed the way I apply my own makeup and embraced a lot of my features that I used to try and cover up. I’ve taken a really minimalist approach to my makeup and I love the way I look more than ever 💕
I loved how well you explained this, thank you for creating this video!! As a working MUA I feel like this is something I try and educate my clients on but it never comes out as well as you did, so thank you!!
Great Job Shelbey !!!!! This is a topic that really needed addressed with some common sense...and you did it so incredibly well. I think too often we're made to feel like we have to hide and cover up every 'flaw' in order to be beautiful. Well...those flaws are a normal part of our skin. And like you mentioned....no one is looking at it with a microscope. Thank you and your friend for being your model. Have a fantastic week ❤
Shelbey! Thank you so much for this video - I just got back into makeup (at over 60) and am fighting with covering my pores which have grown as I have aged. I will take your advice! Thanks again
Your channel is growing so much. Very happy for you, you deserve it! Thanks for another really helpful video!
Great video as usual. Thank you Shelbey. Every time I learn something new and useful.
*I'LL WAIT* 😆😆😂 you're so adorable shelbey; thanks for sticking around i just really enjoy watching your content
Love your videos, I learn so much from you. 💕keep them coming
The before and after is great; actually showed the difference. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this video! Your content continues to get better and better.
Your eye makeup is divine!
Great video, Shelby. One of my all time favorite foundations is the It Cosmetics CC + illumination but it doesn't last a super long time because it's so dewy, I began mixing it with my Wet N Wild Photofocus foundation and now it's absolutely perfect! The same dewyness only is stays longer on the skin and if I set it with my bye bye pores loose finishing powder, it's perfection!
This is the best video Shelbey!! I have never seen the information you presented, ever!! You are a beautiful young woman, with a delightful delivery. I will be running to the MAC store tomorrow for a bottle of Face and Body! Please do a video on today's makeup...stunning!! Special thank you to your friend! I felt like I was looking at my skin when she was on the screen. She looked so polished after your makeup application...well done!!!
Thanks for being so realistic because we all do have pores, but some are larger than others. It was great to know which primer would help with the larger ones. Thanks 🥰
I love this! The texture video and this one! You’re truly talented and your content is gold, I love how you’re not like other beauty you tubers, you’re giving solid knowledge with examples.
Such a knowledgeable young lady!! Tfs this very important info.
Girlllll you fell from heaven😇 I love your videos and this one made me so happy
I was just talking about loving foundations that are thin and liquidy because of the texture. Thanks for this video, very informative.
thank you for making this video. I've been staring at myself hard in the mirror, looking at all of my flaws. glad to know that it is normal to have pores.. also, gorgeous background you have there, gives a very calming feel :-)
Such a great video!! I love that you brought your friend in for the demonstration. Everyone has pores, we are not perfect ☺. I have acne scars above my mouth, and a scar from a cyst on my cheek. Have a great night hun 😘💜
Adore you and your vids! I’ve started using some of your suggested products...creme based and it’s made such a difference in how I look! I look more sun kissed and less cakey...what a difference. Can’t thank you enough! 😘💗👍🏼🤟🏼👌🏻
Good info, and thanks to your friend for being your model!
Wow this video helped me a lot. I have large pores and I've been trying almost all the drugstore foundations for my type of skin and they all looked awful. Also I like a natural looking face and hate when you can really tell that I'm wearing foundation. Thanks to you I saw NudeStix tinted Blur stick and I thought this is exactly for me, just something to hide my imperfections and look natural so I orded online and can't wait to try it. I've looked at your channel and really enjoyed it a lot and learned a lot so thank you one more time 😀
Such a pretty base - looking fresh, natural and not as if you had cement on your face! I love it!
This is such a great video! So helpful :)
You look GORGEOUS in here✨
How beautiful your makeup 🥰
Such a helpful video, thank you !
Omg. You really are a great makeup artist ❤️
Thank you so much for this video. Im nearly 43 and my pores appear larger and larger and I do agree that lighter coverage foundations do look a bit too much on porous skin. I appreciate this video so much x
Thanks a lot for this video. I have been searching for some advice on how to handle my textured skin. This is like a holy Grail video.
I just turned 51 and this was a great video reinforcing what I've been discovering by trial & error. I was a full coverage/matte girl due to my oily skin. I have large pores around my nose, center forehead & cheeks along with acne scars & occasional break outs. I've gradually been sheering the coverage & finding a less matte finish is much more flattering. I'm experimenting with mixing a serum with my foundation. Great suggestions & thank your friend for me🙂
Just luv your videos & you have such a great positive approach to makeup 👍😃🌈🌈🌈🌈
Great video! Yours are really helpful. Thank you
Great content Shelbey....I've never used a brush for my primer. I'll have to try that!
Loved the way u explained soo true thanks
Great vid, you look extra stunning in this one 😊
Wow. Youve earned a new subscriber here girl - after following various KZread beauty gurus for over a decade, I wanted to give up. No one could captivate me and be as eloquent and informative as Michelle Phan, until you came along. I even moved to Korean beauty artists because I was so tired of the western world’s beauty gurus, but you feel like a breath of fresh air in this industry. Thank you for all that you do, and all the effort you put into your content for us!!!
YES! I tried Neutrogena skin tint with NYU pore filler...omg my lines & wrinkles & pores were less apparent!! Thanks so much this was so helpful!
I owe you a huge thanks. I have mature, textured skin with oily t zone AND rosacea, lucky me! I been trying so many different foundations with medium coverage because I need to cover my uneven skin tone and I have found only a couple that work for me that don’t make me look ‘old’ and a grease slick in a few hours. Chanel, Perfection Lumiere Velvet is one, L’Oréal Fresh-ware is another. I never tried a light coverage foundation because I didn’t think it would cover my rednesses. I finally tried the Dior Face and Body. I didn’t think it would work because you have dry skin and you are young. Wow is all I can say. Only need slight touch up after a few hours. A fan so far.
Great video and thank you so much. You mentioned you would have your video linked below on the different types of foundations and skin types. I dont see it? Would love to watch it.
love the way you did your eye shadow in this video

Shelby, because of your videos, I purchased MAC Face and Body. I'm 62 with textured skin with pores and it is the best product for me. Funny thing is the salesman at MAC tried to talk me into their longwear foundation. He did half my face in each product and was amazed at the difference. When you age, less is more and results in a younger, fresher look.
Thank you for the information! I have texture on my cheeks, nose & chin. They seem to become more visible the older I get. I do not have the MUFE primer- YET 😁😁 I plan on purchasing one. Now I need a great foundation that lasts all day! 😀💚💚 I would also like to see a tutorial on your look today.
Thank you for the video!!
Hi shelby!! EXCELLENT informative video. Thanks so much. Thank your dear friend for sharing her beautiful natural face❤❤❤ Excellent recommendations😙
Thank you so much for this recommendations Shelbey. Always looking beautiful. You think the new bare minerals stick foundation is a good one?

Hey you're done with your braces😁😁😁 congratulations!!!!! I thought something was different and couldn't figure it out. Spent the first 4min racking my brain lol LOOKIN GOOOOOD😁
Great topic to touch on. So many people thank that full coverage foundations means that it covers texture/pores too. I just wanted a video review for Kevyn Aucoin’s foundation balm in which she said that it can be applied to wear sheer. Have you tried it yet? Thanks, love🍃🌸
Thank you for this! Great info 👍🏼👍🏼😊
This is something I am possibly most self conscious about. My nose pores are enormous. I use tinted moisturizer or bareMinerals powder foundation, after Prime time, and it is the best I can do. Thanks for the tips!
Thank for this !!!!
This video was so helpful 😊 thank you what are your thoughts on the elf putty primer? Have you tried it?
Excellent info! I still wish I knew how to use the MAC Face & Body! I know you have done a video... I’ve never had a foundation I couldn’t figure out! Haha
*One product that really will tighten pores is the Pixi Glow Tonic. If you have dry skin you may only want to use it 2 - 3 times a week (YOU MUST USE A GOOD SPF 30 or more, which you should be doing anyway) if you have normal to oily skin you may be able to use it daily but again, use a good SPF and during nighttime skin care, last step use a good quality oil, like Josie Maran Argan oil or her Divine Drip Sleeping Nectar*
Excellent tips....i have very big pores on my cheeks near my nose 💕💕💋
Love the makeup look! Can you do a tutorial with the items you used? Thanks!

"Long live the pores." LOL! This video is super helpful!
You need to turn this into a career babe! You're good at it!!
So true 👍🏻😘 And love your look too! What you have on your lips?
That eye look tho. Would LOVE a tutorial on that!
Revlon photoready pore minimizing did a GREAT job on me, even better than smashbox’s one. But I’ve stopped wearing it since I want to embrace my skin more~ I’m trying not to care so much about my huge pores and accept it
Love your look in this video! Curious to know what brand and name of lashes you’re wearing here?
Great video! Thank you!
The NARS Luminous Weightless foundation is extremely thin in texture but medium-full coverage. That would be my recommendation next to the MAKE UP FOR EVER WaterBlend.
Great video... Thanks! 😀💕
Hi shelbey! Loved the video! What brush are you using to apply the foundation and powder?
Thankyou for your wonderful video shelby...what about oily textured skin ? Are there any lightweight foundations that will last all day long on oily skin ?
Very informative! Thank you! Which primer did you use in the demo on your friend? And what eyeshadow/s are you wearing in this video? Thanks x
I like foundations with thin formula, they really enhance without masking and aging, but they not cover melasma (so big that it takes the place of bronzer and blush area) and age spots. Maybe the next theme of tutorial? Thank you!
LOVE your eye makeup. What are you wearing?
Super helpful.....um tut on this look ? 😊
Hi Shelby, where did you get your necklace from, it’s so beautiful, thanks x
Without your braces you look much older, and you look great (you always look good), but you have a confidence about you!! Keep the video’s coming! Stacey H. Long Island, NY
First: Like! Second, funny story: today at work they were surprise about how much i love makeup and skincare, so i tried hard to find a photo in my cloud and I couldnt find a photo that shows bigger pores and acne from last year! (i wanted to show how good my skins now after using Niacimine 10% from the Ordinary). Well in camera my skin looks almost flawless. I dont use pore filling primers, I don't see any better finish. I stick yo better skincare routine (Niacimine+ buffet, from Ordinary, and 50spf with color gel from Heliocare) and now in person my skin looks better than ever but of course I have pores! Third: great video!
