I'd say, it's the same difference between being kind and a pushover. People don't respect or think they owe anything to pushovers. Your good deeds have no value if they come from the weakness of your character rather than the strength of your heart... A measure of selfishness is necessary for one's happiness. You have to go by the win/win philosophy. Being able to say no and set unchanging boundaries means everything. If I was Wojak and Zoomer leeched my rightful bonus like that, it'd mean the end of our friendship. Clearly, he didn't remember all the good actions and walked all over Wojak anyway.

There's nothing wrong with being nice, but kindness has its limits. Don't take a nice person for granted, because it will backfire and the resulting karma isn't worth it. Return the kindness from time to time.

When youre too kind to the wrong people, they take advantange of you. This is why kind people are so rare nowadays. Not because kind people dont exist anymore. Because they are being manipulated and used by self centered people. ☹️

Yep. I used to sacrafice my own comfort to be nice, but I realized people were taking advantage of me. So now I don't do that shit and just treat them like a normal person and all of a sudden im an asshole for not providing for all their wants when they weren't even willing to donate a dollar for my needs.
