Stone Temple Pilots - Wicked Garden (Guitar Play Along)
This time around I decided to just do the main rhythm guitar track with no fills (I only hear a few fills). Standard tuning (EADGBE). If this song gets enough views I may do a full lesson later on though. Thanks for watching and enjoy!

Nice cover man, those riffs sound very powerful. This must probably be my favorite STP song. Keep covering like this!
Fantastic timing, tone and performance!!

Do gibson explorers usually come with Seymour duncan pickups? They are truly the heaviest most gnarly pickups ever made for guitars. I use them myself and love them so much ever since i was 16 years old when i got a nice jackson with them in it.
Love that guitar
Bloody awesome, Jake!!! 👍 Thank you for doing this... and I hope you do a lesson on it. You do a fantastic job showing us how to play these songs. Big thanks once again. 🎸

who doesn't love a destroyer....and this talent!!!
your setup is so badass im a stratocaster guy but this sound is so powerfull and brutal man!
god the time signatures on that is so funky when it gets around 1:54 "burn burn burn" are the lyrics but im just talking about those chord progressions it's just all over the place I love it I bet it takes for fucking EVER to learn that part I can't wait to get a electric guitar alls I have is an epiphone acoustic with a sunburst its pretty bad ass.
I really appreaciate videos like this. Just playing the song right of the bat. No "Hey guys, today we're gonna play blah blah blah" and no eyerollingly slow chord breakdowns. Just playing the damn song so I can get an idea of the structure of the song without wasting time. Thank you!

glad to hear it man, I try to keep things balanced for people like us who like to learn things that way and for others who like the slower break downs. thanks for watching
Nice technique. Love this dude..
Awesome Jake ! You have my vote for a full lesson Thanks In Advance !
Awesome playing man
Nice job and sweet gibson
Awesome job dude ! This is a really accurate cover. I appreciate you posting it. Couldn't figure out what he was playing during one part, but I think you helped me out. Stay safe out there ✌️†🎸
Plp will look at those pickups in any other guitar and say their ceramic but they're not here...Nice and tight playing great tone...
Finally a guy who plays it right! Good job!

Love it. Thanks, Jake.
Crunchy af love it
Awesome!
The main riff is just slightly wrong I believe. On the A vamp that goes down to the G, the G chord happens on the downbeat not the upbeat of the previous quarter note. It's subtle and both work, but it seems Deleo plays it without the syncopation there.
Best cover
Visiting from six years in the future to comment on that killer tone.
Great job. Amazing whatta strong A chord can do
Fuuuuuu cover, magnific!!!!!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Nice job man
Nice!
Excellent.
Nice man. Nice Explorer too.
Dammit dude now I gotta learn this song 😂. But really good cover man
Awesome
perfect!
I wanted to see what the note was that rings out during the verses but you didn't play it.
I want that guitar!
Do you figure out by ear or do you find tabs somewhere? I can often get the main just of riffs n stuff by ear but usually need a trusty tab to check if im onto a winner or being a tard lol. But yeah wicked covers mate. You do and Alice in chains or Soundgarden stuff... And i'l tell ya what, there is a HUGE lack of TAD guitar covers / lessons on youtube which is well annoying as they're by far one of the best/ most underated of the 90s 'grunge' sounding bands If you ain't heard of Tad check em out, you will be keen haha, check 'Grease Box' and 'Just bought the Farm' as a good starting point, and plague years is not as heavy but you can hear the grunge-ness in it so much.... Also some L7 covers would be really dope too, wicked band. So yeah just a couple suggestions mate, keep the good work going, your on form, especially if you figure it out by ear, I can riff all day long but struggle figuring out by ear, especially when a lot of stuff is in weird tunings etc.... Cheers man... Listening all the way from Cornwall (most Southerly point of the u.k) Xx

Thanks! I've tried to develop my ear over the last 16 years and learn pretty much by ear (especially when no live vids are available). I haven't heard of TAD until now. It's always cool to discover new stuff from the 90's.
Fuck! Awesome!
Thank you
awesome sound
Damn that tone is just about it... Fuckin Aye!
Dude, that guitar sounds great... Does it have stock pickups on? I really like how crisp it sounds.

+JakesGuitarVids Also what kind of amp are you playing on? That tone is great!
How are you getting that tone? amp? Kemper? sounds great
gotta have that open g ring out in the bg, tho...
Gimme that.
Hermosa guitarra!
Thanks for the info. Everyone has a tone they love. You captured my preference exactly. I'm in the states a ce-1 costs as much as my first car-I can't afford a demeter tgp3 either but your sound is exactly what I've been after. Look me up on the face thing. You mentioned a sol amp are you down under. Sounds great wherever you are!

lol I hear that man they are pretty expensive now. I was lucky to catch one a long time ago before they jumped in price. The Boss CE-2 however comes close to the sound and is much more affordable. The amp on this vid is a Line 6 POD HD Pro on the "heavy chords" setting. The pre-amp is fairly affordable. The Soldano Avenger was used on other videos and is a little more expensive. Also, the '84 GIbson Explorer that I play here has a lot to do with the tone, the dirty finger pickups are known to have an edgy bite.

Jake I think I'll get the new one. I'm after dean deleo tone and that's something you have done very well in your videos. I aspire to be able to do what you do. If it wasn't for Jimmy page or the deleos I would have no interest in music at all. So I really appreciate hearing someone playing what you do. You are very talented
Wich pickups were used in that guitar?

JakesGuitarVids I never would have expected that to come from a line 6. I remember playing through one in 02 and I thought it sounded like shit but I was a shitty guitar player then. They've come along way-line 6. I hope someday rock is as cool as it was then. I don't know what happened. The 90s were heavy metal beatles-perfect! Then wtf. I would like to be frozen and thawed out when good music is appreciated again.

Your missing the open note in each verse.. It's harder to play then that.
