I get the feeling that Jeff was really nervous to be singing this and that Dean was trying to encourage him. This is the big song and I think has a special kind of aura around it for the band and probably now is inseparable from the memory of Scott. I would be sweating too but he knocked it out of the park here.

He was with the band about 5 months when this video was posted. I do see Dean nodded his head a little as he kept his guitar strokes. That could have Dean's subtle way of staying on timing while Jeff prepared the next notes from memory or he could have gave Jeff some feedback.

Gotta agree with this, most grunge music sounds like it should be pretty self-explanatory in the guitar - and it usually is. Then you get something like Plush and start wondering where do these weird chords come from yet sound so natural. And don't even get me started with Pretty Penny, where your old reliable A-D-E progression goes to die a horrible death.

Not a fan at all. Too digital/over-effected. Not sure why you would connect that to Angus Young. I'm not an STP fan but admire their songs and Deans playing, as well as his brother's bass playing and songwriting, but I just can't take the over-effected stuff. There's no point in it to me when, like so many do, it's used to the point it processes the human touch out, at least to my ears. And I'm not talking gain.

At first, I would have just called Jeff a try hard and been convinced that no one would ever replace Scott. But, in a way, that's true. Scott was one of a kind and so was his voice. But Jeff needs a lot more credit than I've given him. With the direction music is headed and not in a good way, I'm ashamed I even thought that way. If this keeps Stone Temple Pilots going and 90's music alive, I will gladly cheer you on.

The first time I watched this, I was actually caught off guard. This rendition is really different. But listening to it again, it's pretty goddamn cool. Dean DeLeo is FANTASTIC, and I love that this shows him off more. The way they built tension, continually leaving you in anticipation, was pretty genius.
