Stone Age - Make it Yourself: Beads

In Schipluiden archaeologists have found beautiful beads made of amber and jet. About 5,500 years ago, the Stone Age farmers who lived here made and wore this jewelry. Would you also like to have some of those beautiful beads? Diederik and Dorothee show you how to make them.
This video is part of a series of five that goes with the book 'Steentijd in je Eigen Tijd' (Stone Age in Your Age) by Dorothee Olthof and Diederik Pomstra, in which they demonstrate a number of Stone Age finds and techniques.

Actually surprised I didn’t need to look for subtitles!! I’ve been trying to learn Dutch and while I don’t have the confidence to attempt speaking/typing yet, I’m starting to understand it a bit, using context to guess the words I don’t know yet lol! So bedankt for interesting video and for the opportunity to practice my listening skills!!

I can't understand many words of your video but I loved it! Watched the whole thing. I recently made 22 turquoise beads with flint drills, stone age style. Some beads drilled fast 3 to 7 minutes. Others took almost a whole day of leisurely drilling, and several drills ground to dust! I like the string saw in your video. Awesome video.

I can understand most words and I don't even speak their language, I speak English and a little German and know some Old English from school (and Latin, which may help with some roots) so hearing something make sense in a language I know nothing of was so trippy for me!

If you turn on closed captioning, there's a complete translation for everything they're saying. It doesn't even seems to be youtube translate, but actually done by a real translator. I hope that helps!

Tof! En waar kunnen we de ruwe materialen hiervoor kopen? Of kan ik ze ergens op het strand vinden?

Als je heel veel geluk hebt vind je ze inderdaad op het strand. Maar een (online) stenenwinkel geeft meer kans op succes. 😀
