Stolen Parts And Flat Cams - 1966 “Garbage Can” Plymouth Barracuda Needs Help

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Today on Dead Plymouth Garage, it’s the Garbage Can Cuda, a car that has been in the “family” for seven and a half years. After trading my ‘70 Swinger for the car in 2014, I then traded it to a friend for a Coronet, who traded it to a friend for a Valiant, who traded it back to me for the same Valiant (and a truck - more on that later.) After doing a few burnouts, I robbed the engine for another project, the Barracuda then found itself in the hands of one Davis - and now another. Hopefully at the end of this saga it’s almost as awesome as it once was and destroys tires with a reckless abandon once again.

Yeah that was a brand new McLeod. Turns out clutches do better when the bellhousing bolts are tight 🤣

Good Morning. I also have a 66 with a 318, 2 actually but one is mostly for parts. I am exploring header options. So far Dougs and TTi are my only options. I see you went a different route, through metal, lol. What are those and how difficult was it. , thank you jim

They are Hooker Super Competition fenderwell headers, I believe. They were in the car when I first got it back in 2014. In the new iteration of the car, I’m improving the setup quite a bit, with bigger fender openings, and a return to the signal pot master cylinder, as the later dual master directly interferes with one of the primary tubes. The fenderwell setup sucks in a lot of ways, but it also makes working on the engine at least somewhat possible, and doesn’t live on the torsion bar like the TTIs I’ve seen in a ‘65 do.

@@DeadDodgeGarage Thank You. As I learn more, and focus on my goals for the car, I may just stick with a quality dual exhaust. I am making the car frisky and fun to drive, not an all out racer for the strip. With a 4 speed it should still be plenty fun and I can put the grand plus in other areas of the car. j

The fenders, hood, grille, and front bumper are all 1966 Dart. It bolts right on, and because Chrysler was cheap, the body lines perfectly match the Plymouth lines.

Trying to figure out how! The school year starting a week or two before that kind of complicates things… I’m hoping I can make it work
